"Get your hands off me, you bastard! My husband's home—let go!"
I thrashed violently, my voice a desperate whisper as I fought against him.
Vincent Lowell's grin turned predatory. "Relax, sweetheart. Your hubby's in the shower. We'll make it quick—don't tell me you don't like a little danger."
"You're disgusting!"
I drove my knee up with all my strength.
"Gah—!"
He doubled over, clutching himself.
Good. I didn't give a damn how much it hurt. Grabbing his collar, I hauled him toward the door.
Eyes watering, he shot me a venomous glare. "You psycho bitch!"
He wrenched free, stumbling to his feet before hobbling out, still hunched in pain.
I stood there, pulse hammering, staring at the empty doorway.
Too damn close.
Vincent was slick—a master manipulator. Staying here was playing with fire.
Thank God the lease was almost up. I needed to get Daniel out of this place—fast.
"What was that noise?"
Daniel's voice made me jump. I forced a smile, smoothing my expression.
"Nothing! Just a giant rat. Took me forever to shoo it out."
Then, pouting, I added, "Baby, this place is a dump. It's damp, crawling with bugs—my skin's breaking out. Can we please move when the lease is up?"
Daniel groaned. "Moving's such a pain."
I shot him my best wounded look. "Do you even care about me? I'm miserable here!"
He caved instantly. "Alright, alright. Start looking tomorrow."
"You're amazing!" I flung my arms around his neck, smacking an exaggerated kiss on his cheek.
Then, lowering my voice to a sultry whisper, I added, "Now... don't you think it's time you took care of your wife?"
Daniel didn't need more convincing.
He swept me up and carried me to the bedroom.
Three minutes later, it was over.
