The throne room was filled with bone-chilling screams and cries. A massive fire was burning in the middle of the hall and five recently bitten humans were quivering in fear.
Vampires were waiting for the decision of whether to let humans live or kill them. Who will make the choice?
While sitting on the throne, V was calm in contrast to the noises, his eyes crimson in color. A lord of the entire vampire race, he reigned over all of the underworld.
"One last chance"
A powerful deep voice quickly silenced the commotion.
"What on earth were you doing in that dreadful cave, to begin with? We have warned you three times—not once, not twice. Answer immediately, you filthy, terrible humans"
Did someone in the group raise their hand, believing he was in a school or something? Oh, how stupid.
V nonetheless gestured with a long, thin finger as if to start speaking.
"P-please hear me, s-sir, the only thing we're looking for is a place to spend the night. W-we assumed the warnings were just hallucinations because we were unaware that the cave was p-prohibited."
The already flaming eyes were getting even redder, to the point where you began to wonder if it was even possible.
''A lie''
The Lord's smirk was fully gone, and his face took on a grave expression.
The instant the liar was about to start pleading, a hand ripped his heart from his chest and hurled it into the flames as the Lord said the word "Kill."
''Hm Killing the stupid ones gives me a wonderful feeling."
His crimson eyes swept over the remaining ones as the seductive sneer returned to the curling lips, asking, "Who wants to be killed next? Don't waste my time."
''A-actually, w-we went there looking for vampires because there was a word that they were in the forest hunting, so we c-came to see if the rumour was real or not."
''And?''
The word startled the guy who was speaking, but he tried to appear honest enough and continued, "T-that's all. We are just curious about v-vampires because we've never seen them.''
''You never learn, do you?'', V chuckled with a deep voice and feigned a sigh. ''Then I can't help. Burn him.''
''W-Wait! I will tell the truth. I will tell the truth, don't kill my brother, please. My lord please''
V tsked in annoyance, ''Now what?'' and glared at the young boy who looked like he was in his 20s.
"A-along with the existence of vampires, t-there is a rumour. We were trying to capture the vampire and o-obtain the blood since it was claimed that "y-your blood, vampire blood, can make d-dead people alive."
As soon as the words were spoken, all the vampires in the room bared their fangs and hissed out loud, with anger filling the room.
V lifted his hand to silence, and the hall was dead silent again. He stood up from the throne and stepped down the stairs, slowly and casually approaching the shaking boy.
''Finally, not a lie. What's your name?''
''I-I'm Haneul and We are all from an orphanage near the village. We are paid to do this, and we are not willing; we are afraid, but w-we are tempted by the money because that is a huge amount."
The poor boy was flinched by a hand placed on his shoulder, more by a deep voice, but he couldn't dare lift his head and look into the devil's eyes; he might faint in the place.
''Do you know the person who ordered this?"
''A-actually yes. He was also from the orphanage, but he was adopted by some rich man, so he can afford to pay us. He said he wants to see the vampire and will sell the blood for business.''
V smiled again. Even though his smile looked so evil, ''Great. Now, you have to bring that person here, and I'll spare your brother and little friends."
The boy's head lifted quickly, forgetting the man in front of him had just killed one of his friends.
''Really? If I bring that person, will you make us turn into humans again? But how can I trick him into coming here? I'm afraid I can't do that.''
''Of course, if you keep your promise. And you don't need to bring him here personally; just lure him into the cave, saying some shit like you've found one vampire or something. My vampires will take care of it from there.''
