I really pretended to be clueless, and to be honest, I didn't think it was something my brothers would go ahead with.
" As much as this is arranged, but at least it's with somebody that you seem to love." it honestly means a lot coming from Alex because he was the number one person against Killian.
" Who are all of you, and what have you done to my brothers." l joked, and we all laughed.
" it's still us, but we've decided to put your happiness first." it's really a nice gesture, but I'm not sure about the whole marriage thing it just seems too soon and sudden.
" Do you think we should wait." Killian wouldn't want to wait, but I don't want us to rush things and hurt each other in the process.
" You're being hunted, Rosa, and this is the only thing that can ensure your safety." Realization took over, and I noticed that everybody knew what I was running away from, and I'm happy that l didn't have to be the one to explain it to them.
" Marriage is something done for love but not Duty, I can't let him carry that load." l said. I really appreciate him and the fact that he wants to help, but at the end of the day, he has more to lose because this is his whole.
" I may not like him, but one thing I know for sure about him is that he doesn't do something, but he doesn't want to do. The fact that he wants to marry you means that he really does want to marry you, not because he's forced to or he feels sorry for you." Elonzo said.
" I just don't want him to resent me for it in the near future." l said.
" He wouldn't, and if he does, then he'll have to deal with us." Alex said.
We were laughing amongst ourselves when we noticed that standing in the threshold. I could see how sad he was, and it made me feel guilty that I played a part in that.
" I don't want to sound rude, but you've overstayed your welcome, guys." l joked.
I want to talk to Dad because I miss him, and these guys have had him for all these years, so I deserve to have him alone, too.
" Is that your way of kicking us out." I know they also saw dad, and they are teasing me.
" Yep, I don't bother anybody in their room, so why should I be bothered in my room." Having to openly say my room is just phenomenal because this is my home and my room.
" we missed you, squint." Leonardo kissed my forehead, and l frowned.
" What the hell is squint." l said, and they laughed, leaving the room. I didn't like the look the exchange with Dad, and I wonder how they relationship has been in all these years because they truly loved each other.
" I'm glad you're okay." he said, sitting at the couch that Killian was sitting on.
" it wasn't anything out of the ordinary." l lied because I don't want him to feel guilty for this.
" I spoke to your therapist, and she said that you haven't had an episode in years, so you don't have to lie to me." Why didn't I think about that.
" You seem to be having it harder than I am." He looked exhausted and haggard. I'd like to think that I'm the only reason that he's looking this way, but I think there's a lot more.
" it's hard having to bear with children's hate every day." He said, and my heart sored.
" I don't hate you, Dad. I've never hated you and would never even dream of it." l said, holding his hand.
" I wish you hated me just like your brother's do." Seeing my dad cry broke me because I get my strength from him, and if he is weak, then I don't know how I will be able to carry on.
" I think they never got over me leaving, and they took it out on you." I think they think that they're angry because dad took another wife, but they don't want to confront the real issue.
" No, they hate me because I am a bad father." My brother's and I are going to have a very long and deeper conversation about this because I won't let them continue treating my dad like this.
" you didn't see me grow and you weren't with me my entire childhood but you've managed to feel that gap in just a few years and if there's one thing that I do not question in my life, it's your love for me.
A lot has happened, and I think there's a lot more that's still going to happen, but I'm not scared because I know you're here.
if you give up or get weak, then I know I have no chance of winning." l said, and a few unwanted tears fell from my eyes.
He hastily wiped them away. I could see that seeing me cry affected him, and I hope he knows that seeing him this way affects me as well.
" l feel so lost and confused, but I would never give up when it comes to you and your brothers." Now, this is my father.
" I don't mind seeing your wife, but I don't want a relationship with her. I don't want to get to know your other family, and you know the reason why." I know that my dad values transparency, and that's exactly what I'm giving him instead of false hope or trying to please him.
" it hurts that you feel this way, but I'm glad you're starting to stand up for yourself." I could see the pride in his eyes, and it means the world to me
