Zachary let out a cruel, mocking laugh. "You actually think Liam wants you? That he's been faithful? Please. He's already hooked up with Jasmine at the factory."
The words hit me like a sucker punch. My breath caught, my mind scrambling to make sense of it. Liam and Jasmine? Together? No way.
Zachary smirked, relishing my shock. "What, you don't believe me? You think you know him? Wake up—he's been screwing around behind your back, and you're the only one too stupid to see it. You wanna know why he couldn't get it up last night? Because he was too busy with Jasmine at lunch. He had nothing left for you."
I shook my head, my chest tightening. No. Liam—the man who'd held me like I was everything, who whispered promises in the dark—he wouldn't do this. We loved each other.
But Zachary's words burrowed under my skin like poison. Suddenly, everything made sense—Liam's cold shoulder, the way his eyes lingered on Jasmine, why they hadn't come home together tonight. Had it all been a lie?

And Jasmine? She just smirked, that smug, vicious curve of her lips like a knife to my ribs.
My voice shook as I pointed at them. "You—you both said you had things to do. So why are you here together?" The words sounded pathetic even to me.
Liam's jaw clenched. "Stop with the damn questions," he snapped. "You wanna explain this first?" His glare raked over my torn nightgown.
I swallowed the lump in my throat. I knew how I looked—wrecked, humiliated. But he was the one who needed to talk.
I forced myself to meet his eyes. "I didn't do anything wrong. But you—what's really going on with you and Jasmine?" My voice wavered, but I held his gaze.
His temper flared. "Don't play innocent! You've been acting shady since last night, and today you bail on work. Did you think I wouldn't notice?"
The accusation cut deep. I stared at him—his face, once so familiar, now a stranger's.
