I sprang to my feet, desperate to make a break for the bedroom. Zachary's hand shot out like a viper, clamping around my wrist. "Whoa there, Speedy," he drawled, amusement thick in his voice. "What's the rush?"
"Get your hands off me!" I twisted violently, my skin crawling where he touched me.
Jasmine watched with that infuriating smirk, arms crossed. "God, Evelyn, relax. We're just messing around. Don't be such a prude."
Her words hit like shards of glass. I wanted to claw that smug expression right off her face, but Zachary's grip was unbreakable.
Liam edged closer, all fake concern. "Come on, babe. You were all over us last night."
Jasmine sauntered up until we were nose-to-nose, her eyes glittering with malice. "Cut the act. We all know you've been eyeing them. What—you think playing hard to get makes you special?"
Something inside me snapped. My free hand flew out before I could think, the slap cracking through the room like a gunshot. Jasmine staggered back, clutching her cheek where an angry red mark was already forming.
For one beautiful second, everyone froze. Then all hell broke loose.
Liam and Zachary lunged at me, but rage had me moving faster. I launched myself at Jasmine—only to be tackled to the ground seconds later, their weight crushing the fight out of me.
Jasmine rose slowly, rubbing her cheek. "You little bitch," she hissed. "Look at you—writhing on the floor like some trapped animal. Pathetic."
My eyes flicked to Liam, but his expression confirmed the worst: he'd chosen his side. A few nights with Jasmine, and I was already yesterday's news.
"Liam got tired of your vanilla routine," Jasmine sneered. "Newsflash, princess—love's just hunger with better PR."
Each word landed like a punch. I squeezed my eyes shut. She wasn't wrong. I'd been their toy from the start.
Liam crouched beside me, shoving his phone in my face. "Call Daddy. Tell him you need ten grand wired ASAP—or things get ugly."
Zachary shot him a look, but Liam just grinned. "Relax, man. Her old man's loaded. That's the whole reason I stuck around—until his 'my daughter's too good for you' crap got old." He turned back to me. "We'll split it, get out of this shithole. Win-win."
I recoiled like he'd offered me a live grenade. "Go to hell," I spat. "I'd burn that money before I let you touch a cent!"
