The clock read 2:15 AM when she finally stumbled in, clothes wrinkled and hair a mess. At this point, I was dead certain - she'd been turning tricks for cash for a long time.
What didn't add up? Our family's rent alone ran over twenty grand a month - more than enough for Dad and her to live the good life. So why was she still selling herself?
I quickly backed up the damning video on my phone and waited like a predator in the dark. Tonight, this gold-digging witch would confess rything to my father.
Creaking open my bedroom door, I heard Dad's thunderous snoring next door. Without her nightly "distractions," he was sleeping like a baby.
Vanessa Lombardi slinked in just before 3 AM.
"Working late again?" I lounged on the couch like a prosecutor. "Another shift at the motel?"
She jumped like a startled cat. "Y-yes! The night cleaner called out. Front desk was swamped so I..." Her lie rolled off the tongue too smoothly.
"Really? Then explain this." I hit play on my phone.
Her face went sheet-white. In a flash, she was beside me, pressing close. "It's not what you think! After seeing you last night, I just... Ryan, your father can't satisfy me anymore. But you..." Her perfume - something musky and expensive - made my throat tighten.
"Cut the crap. Tomorrow you tell Dad rything and sign the divorce papers," I said, though my voice didn't sound as steady as I wanted.
Vanessa moved like lightning, pinning me to the couch. Her hips ground against mine.
"I meant what I said last night - name your price if you keep quiet." Her breath was hot on my neck. "Don't pretend you don't want this, Ryan."
That strange scent of hers wrapped around me like smoke. ry rational thought screamed no, but my body burned yes.
"Let me take care of you, baby," she purred, lips curling in that wicked smile. "Just like I take care of Daddy."
