In the context of love, it is known fact that opposites attract. That's why both you and everyone around you believed you and Natasha to be the perfect couple. Don't be mistaken, the two of you had plenty in common. Shared interests, similar humour, an equal attraction to one another.
But one distinguishable difference.
Natasha was notoriously and morning person. She was the kind of girl to wake up at 6am sharp every morning, without the need for an alarm and be productive straight away if needs be. As soon as morning came around she was wide awake, alert, and urging to get on with her day. It's what makes her such a productive person. She could workout or go for a run in the morning; she could sit out on the balcony and read a book as the sun rose; she could make breakfast before anyone else in the compound had a chance to use up all of the good food. She was a morning person through and through. Always has been, always will be.
You on the other hand... total opposite.
Unlike Natasha, you were a a huge night owl. You found the evenings to be the time of day when you were the most awake and full of energy. No matter how much you wanted to get up early you couldn't yet you could easily stay up all night if you had to. Parties until 5am - easy. Doing all your paperwork while everyone else in the compound sleeps - the norm. Staying awake and watching the stars; listening to music; endless midnight snacks; the evening hours were where you thrived. You had been a night owl since you could remember. Always have been, always will be.
This was a known fact among the other compound residents. Even before the two of you began dating, this defining difference between the two of you was easily discernible.
Everyone knew it and certain times or specific interactions made this all the more obvious. Yet somehow, it just worked. Some may think that a couple having such different waking hours could have a somewhat negative effect on a relationship but the two of you... well, worked.
Natasha took good care of you in those gruelling moments when you had no choice but to break from your perfect cycle and get up and an ungodly hour in a morning for some sort of meeting or mission:
— Morning —
7am Sunday - Meeting day
As Natasha sits comfortably upright in your shared bed, resting against the headboard, reading one of her favourite books, she notices the time displayed on the clock sitting on your bed side table.
7am.
Today there was a meeting. After a week long mission lasting up until Saturday morning, finishing with a celebratory party on Saturday night, Fury called a meeting for 7:30 sharp in the compounds conference room to debrief. Having been awake for an hour, basking in the morning calm as you slept peacefully beside her, Natasha knew what time it was.
She never dreaded this time, seeing as grumpy-morning Y/N happened to be among many of Natasha's favourite versions of you, however she knew these things never came with ease. She slid her bookmark, which happened to be a row of photo booth photos of the two of you from one of your many dates over the years, into her book and placed it on her bedside table.
She stroked the side of your face delicately. Carefully ridding some stray hairs from out of your face. The back of her index finger running up and down your cheek softly as she admired your tired yet blissful looking expression. Leaning down to press a kiss to the side of your face, she began her wake up process. The kisses ran gently all the way from the corner of your mouth right up to the back of your ear.
"Y/N." She whispered.
Just a quiet groan in response.
"Y/N." She whispered again.
A large exhale from you this time.
"Sweetheart it's time to get up." She kissed your ear lightly.
You groaned and turned over.
Her arm hooked its way around your waist and she pulled your body up against hers. She kissed your other ear and repeated her actions.
"Y/N baby I'm serious. We've got a meeting in 30 minutes." She says slightly higher than a whisper, kissing the back of your ear as she speaks.
"Can we just have 5 more minutes." You groan keeping your eyes shut.
She giggles. "You and I both know 5 minutes never really means 5 minutes."
You open your eyes much to your dismay and turn to look at her face. Those sparkly green eyes never failed to make you smile and warm you all over. It was almost as if you were never tired in the first place.
"I mean it this time. Just 5?" You grinned innocently.
She glanced from your eyes to your lips, then back to your eyes. "Nope." She said scooping you up and throwing your restless body over her shoulder, carrying you all the way over to the bathroom.
She placed you down on the cold marble and gave you that all too familiar smirk.
"I was being serious this time, I just wanted 5 minutes." You whined rubbing your eyes.
"Yeahhh... no you weren't." She stared at you, like a questioning mother.
"....yeah you're right." You admitted, as she leaned in and pecked your lips before the two of you started getting ready for the day.

Equally, Natasha had her similar moments of struggle during the evening. And just like she does to you, you were always on hand to help her out.
— Evening —
"Y/N please."
As per, you and the Avengers are attending a more than anticipated Stark party, except it's at the old tower in the middle of NYC instead of at the compound like normal. You decided as a team to stop hosting at the compound after an unknown series of events which lead to all of our pipes blowing which meant you didn't have heating or water for several days.
You were all celebrating Peters graduation, so as well as all the usual guests, most of which are Tony's friends who none of you still didn't know the names of, Peter invited a few people from his class. So that meant the whole thing started at 7pm which is earlier than usual, yet Tony was adamant that you were to plough through to the normal end time of around 2-3am.
It was currently around 11:30 and after a fairly eventful and exciting night, you could tell the night was wearing down a certain someone. They made their way over to you, exhaustion and restlessness written all over their face and planted themselves practically on you.
"Please Y/N." Nat begged, arms clinging around your waist.
You were situated in the kitchen area with a few of the girls, like Wanda, Carol and Pepper. Back resting comfortably against the kitchen counter top, a glass in your hand as you chatted away. Natasha only recently made her way over to you from where she was before; which was with some of the guys in the sofa area. Immediately she wrapped her arms around your waist and let her whole body rest against yours.
"Nat it's only 11:30 what do you mean?" You said glancing down at your phone on the side as it displayed the somewhat early evening time.
"I know but we've been here since 7 and I'm tired." she frowned. "That's a whole 4 and a half hours Y/N." Her hands gently ran up and down your back as she pouted sweetly at you, gazing hopefully into your eyes.
"How about we give it one more hour and we'll head out?" You bargained, trying to reason with her. She only slumped even more and huffed, clearly dissatisfied with your response.
"Y/N I can't hold on for another hour." She whined, letting her head flop down into the crook of your neck. One of your arms holding onto your glass whilst the other lay protectively over her back, keeping her body close to yours.
"Please baby." She whispered only loud enough for you to hear. After you didn't reply immediately, she pulled her head out of where it was wedged between your shoulder and neck to try and read you. You looked into her slightly glazed-over eyes only to be met with genuine sincerity. You placed your drink down on the counter behind you and used your now free hand to embrace her in a full-on hug. Pulling her tight against you, letting her drop her head back down onto your shoulder whilst her body just sank into yours.
You rubbed her back as her hands absentmindedly fiddled with your belt loops. You nudged her head up off of your shoulder to where she would be looking straight at you again.
"How about, I finish off this drink, wrap up this conversation and we'll head out? I'll be 5 minutes max." You said you her.
She perked up ever so slightly and gave you a tired smile. "I love you so much." she admitted quietly. While her gaze flipped from your eyes to your lips repeatedly. When you smiled back, she leaned in and pressed your lips together in what felt like a very lust-filled and thankful kiss. One that you could sense the relief through.
Not wanting to have a full blown make out session in front of everybody, all of whom weren't even listening in anyways, she just gave you lots of short yet sweet pecks on your lips, smiling to herself in between each.
"Alright alright." you mumbled between kisses. "If you keep kissing me I'm not gonna be able to finish this drink." you smirked. She sighed, knowing you were right, and gave you one final kiss on the lips before grabbing your drink from the counter, pulling your jaw down so that your lips fell open and poured the reminiscence into your mouth. She proceeded to lick up a stream of alcohol that had dripped down the corner of your mouth, all the way up to your lips. When she got there she gave you a long and final kiss.
"Home time." She smiled, grabbing your hand and leading you over to the elevator where the two of you would make your leave.

As opposite as these attributes may appear, the fact is, it's things like this that make you all the more similar, in that you are two individuals who are willing to compromise and work together to make what you have work. As different or as similar as you may come, what's sets you aside from all of those things is that you share the same feelings for one another; feelings so potent that differences don't set you apart.
T Ruthman always said:
'It's the things in common that make relationships enjoyable, but it's the little differences that make them interesting...'
