Lord Madison's POV
"Nora!" l called in panic as l held on to her, but she kept clutching her chest and exclaiming in pain. "Alpha Leo!" sheexclaimed loudly in anguish while l held her tightly against myself.
"Calm down, Nora," l pleaded and noticed that she was still wailing in discomfort, so l quickly unleashed my abilitiesand hugged her tighter.
felt her trembling in my arms as she tightly shut her eyes and fell unconscious in my arms.
With a sigh, l laid her on the bed and tried to establish a mind link with Leo , but just as Nora said, his signals weredead, which got me worried and scared.
"Maddison," l heard Aunt's voice in my head.
"Aunt," l responded in panic.
"We won, but Leo is missing" she sobbed, causing my heart to sink. "According to Beta layson, Alpha Leo's powerunleashed uncontrollably and he burnt half of the vampires, but when the fre subsided, they couldn't fnd him, leowas burnt to ashes with the vampires," she sobbed loudly, and l felt tears welling up in my eyes, trying to force theilway down my cheeks.
'Leo is gone, my life is gone," she sobbed loudly, causing me to sink onto the sofa.
Aunt's words buzzed in my head, causing my heart to clench in my chest. l couldn't believe he was gone when he hadjust talked to me a few hours ago.
Slowly, the tears flowed as l regretted the fghts l had with him. Leo wasn't just a cousin, but he was a friend and abrother. Sadly, our relationship went sour when we both fell for the same woman.
'Get search parties to look for his body or anything that belongs to him," l suggested, and Aunt responded.
"We've found something that belonged to him. lt's his wristwatch, but it was burnt beyond recognition," shemumbled through tears, and l took a deep breath and stared at Nora, who was unconscious.
If she could be in such pain, then it meant only one thing... Leo was gone.
"What am l going to do? How do l live without my Leo?" she asked in tears, and l couldn't find the words to comforther. She continued sobbing until she ended the mind link.
Gulping in pain, l stood to my feet and walked over to the bed where Nora was lying. l took a closer look at her andsaw a droplet of tears fall down her cheek despite her eyes being closed.
"Nora," l called but didn't get a response from her.
I climbed onto the bed and lay beside her before pulling her to myself and squeezing her in my embrace. l noticedher body was extremely cold, which made me panic.
"What is wrong with her?" l asked my wolf, who quickly gave a response. "We need to act fast. Her wolf is in pain, andshe might lose it," he said, causing me to furrow my brow.
"But I'm here. i'm also her mate," l responded, frightened.
'The bond of a frst mate is stronger than that of a second chance mate," my wolf responded, causing a frown toappear on my face. “What do we do? l don't want her to lose her wolf" l spoke.
My wolf remained silent before finally speaking."You have to have sex with her and mark her as yours. That way, thebond she has with Leo would be broken, and she would only belong to you,” my wolf suggested.
I lay there, stunned, as my wolf's words echoed in my head. The idea of taking advantage of Nora's vulnerable stateto mark her as mine felt wrong. She had just lost a mate, and it didn't seem fair or respectful to force myself uponher in such a moment of grief.
But my wolf had a point. lf Nora's wolf was in pain and at risk of being lost, i had to do something to strengthen thebond between us. l couldn't bear the thought of losing her too, especially when she needed someone to lean on nowmore than ever.

'Are you okay?" l asked while pulling her into my arms.
Alpha Leo, something is not right, My wolf, l feel i'm losing it" she mumbled in pain, and l sighed and placed a kisson her forehead. "i'm here. Nothing is going to happen to you," l comforted her and noticed her body was gettingcolder.
