Joey threatened Jordan by saying, "Jordan, maybe everyone else is scared of you, but to me, you're not even worth a damn. Once I get out of this room today, you'll pay off your wife's doing to mine."
Jordan walked over to Joey, crouched down, and gave his cheek a few mocking pats. He said, "Joey, did it ever cross your mind that I dare to lay a hand on you and your wife because I've got something up my sleeve?"
Joey's expression changed instantly.
Jordan said, "It's not that I don't want to show Mr. Shaw some respect, but what you all did to my wife was way out of line. If I don't stand up for her today, everyone will think she's just some pushover, won't you?"
With that, Jordan stood up and swept his gaze across the room. He continued, "My wife didn't come here today as Mrs. Erwin, but as the CEO of Hayes Group.
"You all heard about what happened to the Hayes family. The rest of the family isn't up to the task. They can't handle the company. My wife came here today to build relationships with all of you.
"Unexpectedly, before she got a chance to say anything, she was bullied by this woman."
Jordan was backing Stella up all the way today. He continued, "Well, everyone here knows Troy, right? You know exactly what kind of bastard he is, probably even better than I do.
"Let me ask you. Has Troy ever messed with your daughters or killed them?
"Just think about it. If my wife hadn't stood up, the Shaw family and the Carver family would still be doing whatever they wanted, and we wouldn't know how many more people would get hurt.
"Do you know why Kevin took over the company? Because their father gave up on Troy. Troy is going to spend the rest of his life in prison.
"If you keep reporting him, his charges will keep stacking up, and he might even end up on death row before long.
"So tell me, does it make any sense for Lillian to bully my wife over such a bastard? And Joey, just because he spoils his wife no matter what, thinks he can threaten me.
"Let me ask you. If word goes out about all this, whose side do you think everyone will take?
"Even if the Shaw family is capable, I still believe people know what's right in their hearts."
After Jordan finished speaking, everyone went silent. They thought Jordan made sense.
Everyone knew Lillian always threw her family's clout around and bullied whoever she wanted. Those families whose heiresses had been hurt by Troy all had a score to settle, in particular.
This suggested that what went around came around.
Kevin knew that if he didn't stop Jordan and Stella today, he would be in for a serious beating from his father when he got home.
However, he knew both the Carver family and the Carson family had done so many terrible things. It was time for them to get what was coming to them.
Stella walked to Lillian. Though Stella didn't wear heels, her leather shoes were more than enough as she stomped down hard on Lillian's right hand.
"How does that feel? I'm not even as strong as you." Stella taunted.
Lillian cried out, "I know I was wrong. Stella, please let me go."
"Really? Now you realize you were wrong? If I let you go now, you'll just forget all about this and try to mess with me again," Stella said coldly.
"I won't. I swear I won't," Lillian pleaded.
"Sorry. I don't believe a single word out of your mouth, not even the punctuation," Stella replied.
Stella kept her foot firmly pressed on Lillian's hand and let out a sigh. "What a pity. I haven't recovered from what I suffered, so I barely have any strength left at all."
