Her child was still overseas and wasn't coming back soon. Even if he came rushing back now, it wouldn't undo what she had already been through.
Soon enough, Lillian's hair was almost all chopped off.
Stella pretended not to know anything and said, "Lillian, what happened to your hair? Oh, my God! You're bleeding."
Jordan looked at Stella and couldn't help but smile.
When he saw Stella whip Max last time they were at the Hayes residence, Jordan realized that Stella and he were the same kind of people, both cold and ruthless when they had to be.
But they didn't have any other choice. They weren't born this cold and ruthless. They were forced to become this.
Emily was also there today, but she was just sitting unnoticed in a corner. She was utterly terrified by Stella's wild actions.
Emily couldn't help but shiver when she thought that Stella might find out that she had been involved in the kidnapping back then.
With blood streaming down her face from her scalp in thick, ghastly lines, Lillian looked like the ghost of a horror movie.
Stella was giving Lillian a taste of her own medicine. She studied Lillian with a mocking tilt of her head and said, "You look much better than before."
The ladies nearby were left speechless. They wondered, 'Looking much better? Has she lost her mind?'
"But something is missing." Stella grabbed a rag from the side and started wiping Lillian's face.
No one believed that Stella was doing this out of kindness. Although Lillian had been over the line, Stella was on a whole other level of fear. No one had a clue what she was going to do next.
Lillian was shaking all over. She asked, "Wh-what are you planning now?"
"Well, I wiped your face clean, but the blood just keeps coming. I can do nothing about that," Stella said.
"Please let me go. I swear I've learned my lesson," Lillian begged.
Stella's hand whipped across Lillian's face with a sharp slap. Stella said, "Is that all it takes for you to admit your fault? Lillian, have you already forgotten how many times you slapped me just now?"
Stella could only hate her vulnerability, but Lillian's face was already swollen from the slap.
Stella kept slapping Lillian. Each slap across Lillian's face brought back Stella's memories of being slapped when she had nearly been assaulted in Dusty Pines.
Those men were incredibly strong because they were used to working the fields day in and day out. A few slaps from them would make Stella's nose and mouth start bleeding.
Stella thought those days of nightmares were finally over, but Lillian just proved she could still be bullied all over again.
Everything Stella did today was to make sure everyone saw that she was no pushover.
Even though Stella barely had any strength left, she kept slapping Lillian as hard as she could.
The people standing around started counting the number of slaps.
It didn't take long before Lillian fainted. Stella told someone to splash cold water right on Lillian.
When Lillian woke up, her face was full of despair. She groveled at Stella's feet, almost licking Stella's shoes.
Lillian begged, "I'm sorry. I know I was wrong. I really do. Stella, what do I have to do for you to let me go? I'll do whatever you say."
Stella kicked her aside, feeling nothing but pure disgust. Stella asked, "If I had begged you like this earlier, would you have shown me any mercy?"
Lillian stiffened all over. She crawled back over and pleaded desperately, "I'll give you whatever you want, money, houses, anything. Just let me go, please."
Stella let out a cold, mocking laugh. "Do you think I'm short of that stuff?"
"Then what are you short of? Just say it. I'll do anything," Lillian pleaded.
With a wicked grin, Stella said, "You know what? There is something I want you to do, but I doubt you've got the guts to agree."
"What do you want me to do?" Lillian asked.
"Divorce Joey," Stella said.
