                    Jordan nodded. "Okay."
After what had happened the night before, Jordan no longer worried about Stella. He felt she had become much stronger.
When they stepped outside, they saw Lionel.
Lionel was just about to speak to Stella when he noticed Jordan following right behind her.
For some reason, every time Lionel saw Jordan, Jordan gave him an unsettling, almost scary look.
"Stella, are you heading to the hospital?" Lionel asked.
Stella's expression was colder than ever. She replied, "Of course, but I'm not going for the same reason as you."
Lionel frowned. "Stella—"
Before he could finish, Stella cut him off. "Call me Mrs. Erwin. You are not qualified to call me Stella."
Jordan's lips curled into a satisfied smile. He had been annoyed for a long time by how Lionel kept calling her "Stella". If he could, he would have already warned Lionel to stop.
Lionel stared at Stella for a long moment. When he saw her face remain completely blank, his heart turned cold.
"I don't know if it was right to ask you to go there," Lionel said.
"But you did, didn't you?" Stella shot back.
Stella gave him a cold look and said, "And you don't get to take it back now. I'm going to visit them with my husband."
With that, Stella put her hand into Jordan's and led him straight to the car.
Jordan's lips curled into a smug grin, and he tried to make sure Lionel saw how pleased he was. Especially when Stella called him "husband", it felt like a whole garden of flowers was blooming inside him.
Once they were in the car, Stella finally let go of his hand. She said with a little embarrassment, "Sorry about that."
"It's fine," Jordan replied.
As Jordan pulled his hand back, he kept his eyes on the window. When Stella wasn't noticing, he kept touching the spot where she had held him and thought, 'Yeah, my wife held my hand.'
The other three members of the Hayes family, who had been in jail for days, were finally released after bribing the police.
However, the police made it clear that they would have a criminal record.
They thought, 'Whatever. Anything is better than staying locked up in there.'
Life inside the jail was miserable. Even after paying up, they still got crappy food, and people were always sent to mess with them.
Fiona had always tried to protect Anna, but the two couldn't stand up to those people. They were often shoved over the toilet and forced to drink from it.
The toilets in prison were nasty as hell to begin with, and after days of barely eating, they had lost a lot of weight.
Normally, one could get out with just a little money, but somehow, they got fleeced for way more than necessary.
As soon as they were released, they heard that Max had been hit by a car and had been unconscious for days, with his life hanging by a thread.
When they arrived at the hospital and saw Max lying in the ICU, they nearly passed out on the spot.
Max was incredibly handsome, with girls falling all over him, but now he looked very frightening.
Luckily, Lionel was there. He tried to reassure everyone that as long as Max could make it through, as long as he stayed strong.
Emily had been there for days. At night, she slept on a chair by the door. During the day, whenever she had a chance, she would go into the ward and wipe Max down.
When she saw the Hayes family arrive, she held back her tears and said, "Max couldn't have been in such a bad state.
"Stella was right there when it happened. I can't understand how she could be so cold to turn her back on him when Max begged for help.
"I used to put in a good word for her in front of you all. I thought she wasn't that kind of person, but I was so wrong.
"How could she care so little about her brother's life? She hasn't even come to visit Max these days. Does she want Max dead that badly?"
