"Oh? Is it that he never did it, or just never got the chance? If you keep running your mouth here, don't blame me if I get nasty," Stella shot back.
"How can you say something like that?" the woman gasped.
"I've already cut ties with the Hayes family. No, actually, I kicked them out myself. From now on, I'm the only real Hayes left. The Hayes family has nothing to do with me. Someone, throw this troublemaker out," Stella ordered.
The security guards came over right away. They knew Stella was here as an important customer, while Silas's wife, dressed in a tacky, mismatched way, was obviously not here to dine. Without hesitation, they dragged her out.
She was still shouting, "I'm here to get medical expenses from you. You beat him up, so you have to pay."
"That's all you care about. Fine, I'll give you the money," Stella said. Stella picked up her pace, but if one looked closely, they could still tell she was limping.
She tossed a single bill right at the woman. "Here's your money. Don't ever come looking for me again!"
Silas's wife looked at the money, her face burning with humiliation. She tried to get back inside, but the security guards blocked her way. She screamed and shouted, but no one even spared her a glance.
When Stella turned around, she saw Monroe still standing there, watching the whole thing. She shot him a look. "Did you tell Anna I was here, so she came looking for me?"
Monroe froze. "No, I didn't."
Stella ignored him. It was obvious she didn't believe a word he said, and just headed back into the private room.
Monroe felt a deep sense of being wronged. He really hadn't said a word to anyone.
He couldn't help but think, 'Wait, when I was texting earlier, I think I did overhear something. Could Mrs. Clark's finding this place really have something to do with Anna? But why would Anna do something like that?'
And then he shook his head because he couldn't bring himself to think that Anna was scheming. Monroe went back to his seat, wanting to explain himself to Stella, even though he didn't know why he cared about explaining to her.
But he just couldn't shake this uneasy feeling.
Stella didn't even give him a chance to speak. She went straight to someone else.
Stella wasn't really supposed to drink, but she still ended up having a little anyway. When she got home, she was surprised to find Jordan still waiting for her.
Her cheeks were flushed, and as she looked at him, she asked, "Why aren't you asleep yet?"
Jordan immediately stepped in front of her, concern in his eyes. "Have you been drinking?"
"Yeah, but not too much. I know how my body is," Stella replied. Still, she was clearly a little drunk.
Stella looked even more beautiful like this. She'd always been gorgeous, but now that she'd filled out a bit, her beauty was even more apparent. Jordan's heart skipped a beat. "Let me walk you back to your room," Jordan said softly.
Seeing her struggling to walk, Jordan didn't hesitate. He picked her up in his arms, carrying her bridal style.
Stella wanted to refuse, but her body had other ideas. She simply melted into his arms, letting herself relax completely against him.
Jordan looked down at her, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
Mary saw the scene and was moved to tears.
She looked up at the sky, thinking, 'Madam, can you see this? There's someone who will truly love Ms. Stella Hayes for you now. Don't worry, I'll always stay by her side and take good care of her, too.'
Jordan thought about calling Mary over to help Stella take a bath, but then, remembering her physical condition, he decided against it and let her skip it for tonight.
He was about to go make her some hangover soup when Stella suddenly grabbed his arm. "Jordan, can you stay with me?" she murmured, her voice soft and pleading.
