LEILANI.
I moved from my spot, but I did not move far enough before a young man carefully approached me from the front. I could tell he was trying to keep his eyes on my face, but I could see him stealing glances at my cleavage.
Oh, here we go.
“Hi. I’m-”
“She already has a dance with me,” Neil’s voice cut him off before he even formed the words. I turned to see Neil, staring at the guy with unfriendly eyes. His arm wrapped protectively around my waist.
That was fast. A smile tugged on my lips.
The young man looked back at me for a moment before he turned around and weaved his way away from us. I giggled and faced Neil.
“You can’t even leave me alone for one second.”
He shrugged with a smile. “Yeah. Especially with all these men staring at you. They should fucking know you’re taken.”
I laughed teasingly at him but at the same time, my mind suddenly tried to form how Adonis would react if he were in Neil’s shoes.
Definitely deadlier and probably with less talking and more fists.
The thought made my belly flutter. The fact that Adonis was not here was slightly saddening. This is why I had never met him before he showed up on our doorstep.
Neil was saying something, but all that filled my mind was how Adonis had given me so much pleasure that midnight by the pool, groping my wet, naked body as he thrust into me, kissing me with those soft, skilled, and sexy lips of his.
The sinful way he ate my pussy.
His sensual, dirty as fuck commands. My inner thighs throbbed and I slightly squeezed, nearly gasping when the action gave me more pleasure instead of easing it. I was not wearing panties.
Then I thought back on the cold way he had spoken to me back in Neil’s study. That was really how he spoke to Neil too, but I can’t help but wonder if he was mad that we were kissing and Neil was touching me right in front of him. He did not seem like the type that would be bothered by heavy PDA, but he fucked me, and seeing his brother touch me was probably bothering to him. Even I was bothered.
Thinking about Adonis made my skin heat and my mind spin. It was a terrifyingly delicious sensation.
“Leila? You listening…?” Neil’s voice cut through to me and I blinked.
“Y-yeah. Of course.”
A waiter passed and I placed my empty glass on it. I was about to pull Neil for a dance to keep me from thinking about a certain sexy man but a soft voice reached my ears.
“Neil?”
We both turned. The owner of the voice was a porcelain pale blonde. Her skin was so white, with wavy platinum blonde hair that poured over one shoulder. Her eyes were dark and slightly curved upwards. She was in a light blue gown that curved and flowed down her petite body. The blue was the exact shade of Neil’s eyes. And her neck, hair, ears, and wrists were adorned with pretty pearls.
And there was something in her eyes as she gazed at Neil that I immediately disliked.
“Rita,” Neil said in a low tone.
I furrowed my eyebrows wondering why she was gazing at him like that. Neil’s arm snaked around my waist and her eyes followed the motion, her face unreadable.
“Cora told me I’d find you here…” She said almost distractedly, her eyes still on my waist.
Neil looked at me. “This is Rita, her father is one of dad's Asian partners.” I looked back at her. She did look a little bit Asian. But you had to look real close to tell.
“Yeah, I know you can’t really tell. I got most of my mother’s genes.” She said airily, though it sounded a bit forced to me. That was the thing with these sorts of events. It’s filled with people who fake their emotions throughout conversations.
“And this is Leilani. My beautiful fiancée,” Neil said, putting a little bit more emphasis on the fiancée like he was giving Rita a message.
I knew then that there was something between them. Or, there had been.
“Oh, so this is the famous fiancée I’ve heard so much about.” Her eyes flashed with something that looked like hurt, though a small smile was on her face.
“It’s flattering to know I’m a hot topic among people here,” I gave a radiant smile as I subtly placed a hand over my lips, making sure she caught the glint of my engagement ring and my diamond necklace. I cringed within, but it was crystal clear that she liked or loved Neil and the way she kept staring at me in Neil’s arms exuded suppressed jealousy. “Nice dress you have there, by the way.” I tried to sound as friendly as possible.
She gave a shaky smile. “That shade of blue is my favorite.” Then her eyes moved to meet Neil’s meaningfully, with some kind of soft light in her eyes.
She was talking about Neil’s eyes.
Neil’s face remained stoic and expressionless. “I’m going for a dance with my fiancée.” She flinched at the word. “See you around.”
Then he pulled me softly and we moved away, leaving her standing there, staring at Neil’s back sadly.
The music had switched to something a little slower and we stopped when we had gotten far away from where we stood earlier.
I placed my hands on Neil’s shoulder as we softly swayed to the music, his hands on my waist. His handsome face held an expression that was still unreadable.
“Who is she?” I asked softly.
He blinked slowly, leaning in to place a soft kiss on my forehead. “A family friend. Like I said before, her father and Dad have been partners since forever. I was kind of surprised to see her here, she had moved to and stayed at her dad’s home country, The Philippines, for a long time now.”
“You didn’t seem surprised to see her. I mean, you weren’t very friendly.” I said.
He arched an eyebrow. “You want me to be friendly with all the girls?” His eyes shone. “I’m too helplessly in love with you to look at other women, babe.”
I blushed but then realized he was skipping something. “Maybe I should rephrase the question. Who is she to you, Neil?”
He noticed I was serious and he let out a sigh, looking away from a moment before he met my eyes again, blue eyes hard.
“She’s my ex-girlfriend.”
