LEILANI.
I slowly sat up in the soft bed and looked over to Neil’s side of the bed. He was not there. After I left the home theatre last night, I had come back into the room to see Neil awake. I nearly had a heart failure because if he had stepped out of the room to come looking for me, Christ, he might have walked in on Adonis and me fucking in that shadowy room.
He had been sitting on the couch, staring thoughtfully into space when I walked into the room. Without a word, I desperately tried to hide the thong in my fist as I disappeared into the bathroom. By the time I came back out, ready to go to bed, he was on his feet like he was about to say something but I promptly ignored him and slid into bed, facing the other direction.
I was upset with both Neil and Adonis and I really did not have the strength to deal with both of those men this morning.
I sighed and got out of bed, padding across the room and into the bathroom for my morning routine.
In a couple of moments, I stepped back out, my hair in a loose ponytail and my body wrapped in a white bathrobe and fluffy white footwear covering my feet. I moved out of the room and down the stairs, heading to the kitchen to make some good breakfast because I was really hungry after last night.
But as I got to the bottom of the stairs, something red flashed in my sight from the corner. I turned to see Chase. He was playing with something puffy and red. I moved closer to him.
“Chase, where did you find that?” I cooed, leaning down to run my fingers through his abundant black and gold fur as he mouthed and pawed at a red boxing glove, his massive body curled in a corner near the stairs.
In response to my touch, he abandoned the glove and nosed my palm, licking excitedly his tail wagging. I took a closer look at the boxing glove. My eyebrows furrowed. It definitely wasn’t Neil's, so-
The faint sound of laughter filtered into my ears, snatching my attention away from Chase immediately. It came from the kitchen. I straightened up and moved towards the kitchen, and Chase promptly followed me, his new toy in his mouth.
As I reached just outside the doorway, I saw Sara by the counter, busy with making breakfast while talking to Adonis with a light blush on her cheeks. He was standing by the counter, a few steps behind her, peering at what she was doing with her head about the same level as the lower part of his chest.
Sara looked so small and soft standing next to his tall, broad, and sinfully masculine figure. He was in one of his deliciously clingy hoodies, grey in color with the front open to flaunt his ripped, beautifully tanned, and toned ab muscles. The matching grey sweatpants rode low on his mouthwatering v-cut, triggering nasty, dirty thoughts.
He just possessed killer genes.
Every part of his body was molded and honed as a deadly weapon of sex. Flashbacks of last night blazed through my memory, when that massive sexy body of his was on me, his cock pumping into me deeply. Heat blossomed under my skin and I nearly forgot I was supposed to be upset with him.
As Sara made to turn around, unknowingly, her hand brushed against the tall glass flower vase standing on the glistening countertop and it toppled. As Adonis moved to hold the vase back in place, Sara turned around only to bump into his chest.
“Sorry.” She squeaked, face turning tomato red, trapped between the counter and him. He muttered something to her that I didn’t catch as he moved out of her personal space, but whatever he said made her blush harder.
Something roiled inside me as I watched them. Sara was a middle-aged woman but around Adonis, she turned into some kind of schoolgirl in love. I knew it was harmless flirting on Adonis’ part, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Sara already had some kind of crush on him. The worst part was that he would probably lose interest very, very quickly but females would remain hooked and crazy over him. The fact that Adonis had this kind of effect on women was dangerous. The kind of powerful effect he had on me.
It made him the master, and I, the slave.
Sara turned to face the direction of the doorway and finally noticed me. A smile lit up her face as the redness faded. “Good morning, Miss Waters. How was your night?”
“Hey, Sara.” I stepped into the kitchen. Adonis turned to rest his magnetic dark eyes on me. “My night was…” My belly heated. “…okay...” I finished, trying not to blush.
“That’s great. Breakfast will be set any moment now. The process was much faster because Adonis was such a great help.” She smiled brightly. Then she looked at him. “He’s hot, young, and can cook! The complete package. Don’t you think so, Miss Waters?”
What the fuck is she doing?
I blinked, the kitchen suddenly deafeningly silent as she waited for my response. I did not dare look at Adonis.
“Um…I guess…” I choked out and she nodded, grinning at Adonis. I did not look at him to see the expression on his gorgeous face. Fuck, Sara, you’re so clueless. I moved to grab some fruit because I was literally starving and I felt a cold nose nudging my legs, Chase’s soft fur tickling my skin.
“Is that Neil’s?” Sara suddenly asked. I looked up from peeling my banana to see her pointing down at Chase. He was curled on the floor beside me, the red boxing glove placed protectively under his strong jaws and paws.
“No-”
“It’s mine.” Adonis’ deep voice sounded casual.
I looked at him before I could even stop myself. Butterflies erupted in my chest when our eyes met. Fuck. I’m supposed to be upset! I did not know the exact reason for getting upset last night when he told me he wanted to take me on a trip with him, but it didn’t sit well with a tiny part of me that he only ever looked at me because of sex. But why should that upset me? I only want sex from him too, right?
I was ready to be his sex slave, sex toy, and slut, so why was I beginning to… want something else? What am I even thinking? I only want to be fucked good by him, that’s all.
That’s all.
“Oh no, I can clean it up for you,” Sara spoke up and tried to move closer to Chase but he growled in warning, got up from his curled position, picked the boxing glove in his mouth, and trotted majestically out of the kitchen.
“It’s fine, Sara.”
In a moment, after I was done eating my banana and Sara was setting the table, I walked out of the kitchen just as Neil stepped into the house, and from his dressing, I could tell he just returned from his morning run.
His blue eyes fell on me just I turned towards the stairs. “Leila.” I barely acknowledged him, just continued moving towards the stairs, not ready to talk to him, but he followed me and soon I felt him hold my wrist, making me stop. I sighed.
“Let’s talk about last night, babe.” He said carefully. I turned to face him, my face blank.
“This is so important to me, and you acted so callously, saying all sorts of things…” I said, my disappointment showing. He ran a hand through his hair with his other hand, closing his eyes briefly.
“I was in a bad mood already and-”
I cut him off. “Take your time to simmer down and think about it, then you can talk to me.” I wriggled my wrist out of his hold. “I said I already signed the contract out of anger yesterday. But I’m going for the signing today. This morning, in fact.”
He looked at me solemnly, his shoulders dropping. “You’re really serious about this.”
“When have I ever joked about my business?” I asked back, unsmilingly. He went quiet, solemnly staring at me.
I held his gaze for a moment before I sighed and turned away, walking up the stairs. As I walked to the bedroom to get ready, I decided not to have breakfast at the table so I could just get my day started without any more of these stressful interactions. I’ll just grab something with Brooke on the way.
A couple of heads popped up at the sound of my sharp heels clicking the glass floor as I walked into the office reception. I left my hair flying in its glossy, luxuriant length as my hips swayed in my short navy office skirt that wrapped my curves alluringly, exposing my smooth long legs tucked in navy red-bottomed heels with a matching light shirt within and a sleek navy suit jacket. My designer bag dangling from my hand matched my outfit perfectly.
What I lacked in emotional strength this morning, I made it up with my looks, putting extra effort to look deliciously good and formal for today’s important events.
“Miss Waters, good morning!”
“Good morning, Miss Waters!”
Greetings erupted immediately they found their voices after staring mindlessly at me. And I, of course, plastered my polite smiles and returned the greetings, even though I was feeling kind of cranky. And hungry. A nice breakfast would probably do my mood some good.
As I walked further in, I saw Brooke step out of her office with a guy- that Jake guy from the next floor- right beside her. They were having some kind of animated discussion, and Brooke was smiling in a way that made me suspect that there was probably something between them.
Maybe Jake was her date for the beach event.
Jake saw me first and a wide grin appeared on his face as he moved forward. “Leila, it’s a pleasure to see you again.” I had gotten close enough for him to take a few steps and take my hand for a shake overeagerly.
“Hi, Jake.” I smiled. His hand held mine for a second too long. He was about to say something to me, his eyes twinkling with genuine gladness, but Brooke spoke up. “Good morning, Leila. You’re quite early, we were supposed to leave by eleven.”
“We are going to grab breakfast on the way. That would take some time. Is everything ready?”
She blinked, “Yes, everything’s set. Everything has been set for a long time, I’m so excited.”
I nodded and looked back at Jake. “Would you like some breakfast sent to you?”
His eyes lit up at my offer and were about to say something but Brooke laughed. “He really just had breakfast before coming up here.” She looked at him. “I could send you some good brunch though, yeah?”
He looked uncomfortably between both of us before he nodded. “Yeah, sure. Um, I was leaving, I got stuff to do back in the office, but it was nice talking to you again, Leila.”
“Alright, Jake.” I smiled and he smiled back, walking down the hallway till he was out of sight. I looked back to see Brooke staring at me thoughtfully.
“You always have breakfast at home, but today you seem kind of…off. Is everything okay?” She was as observant as always.
“Of course.” I smiled and skillfully changed the topic. “I can’t wait to sign that contract so I can break the amazing news to the rest of the staff.”
She nodded, smiling eagerly. “Same, Leila, same.” Then she paused. “If you don’t mind me asking, how’s Neil taking it?”
My smile did not waver. “He’s happy for me, Brooke. He’s just being super supportive as always.”
Liar.
