The room was locked down.
Damien had called the meeting without warning—no assistants, no aides, just blood relatives and board-level access. It was the Kingston private vault—a room used only for crisis, covered in layers of surveillance and security spells so tight, not even a whisper escaped its walls.
Arielle sat silently at his side, her expression unreadable, while the Kingston family members shifted in their seats, sensing the atmosphere had turned from tense to toxic.
“I know one of you has been selling company secrets,” Damien said, voice like steel drawn across stone.
The words dropped like daggers.
Eyes widened. Mouths opened in protest. But Damien raised a hand.
“No denials. Not yet.”
He turned toward the screen on the wall behind him. With a single command, encrypted files blinked into view—emails, transfer logs, intercepted messages.
The room went quiet.
It wasn’t speculative anymore.
It was proof.
He stepped forward.
“These were pulled from a shadow server accessed from our family’s private network. Messages traced directly to an IP in this very estate. For months, our blueprints, client rosters, and merger strategies were sold to Carrington & Chase.”
He looked to his left.
“Edward.”
The name cracked through the room like thunder.
Edward Kingston straightened, feigning offense. “You’re seriously accusing me?”
Damien didn’t flinch. “I’m not accusing. I’m confirming.”
He flicked the screen.
There it was.
Edward’s private login, buried in a list of exported files. Dates. Times. Matching the release of confidential leaks that nearly cost them the board vote.
Arielle inhaled sharply beside him.
“You lied about our past,” she whispered. “And now you’ve tried to ruin our future.”
Edward’s jaw clenched. “You were a mistake. He was obsessed. You don’t belong in this family.”
“I built this company,” Damien said coldly. “I belong more than you ever will.”
A security team entered.
Damien turned toward them. “Escort Mr. Edward Kingston to the private holding wing. He is to remain there until the authorities arrive. And notify the board—there will be a special session tonight.”
Edward stood, chest puffed. “You’ll regret this.”
Damien walked closer.
“No, cousin. You will regret underestimating me.”
Later, as silence returned to the estate, Damien sat in the garden, dusk painting the horizon in blood-red hues. Arielle joined him, a hand on his shoulder.
“You okay?” she asked.
He shook his head. “He wasn’t just a traitor. He was family. I trusted him.”
Arielle knelt beside him. “That’s what makes your victory stronger. You didn’t just fight greed. You fought betrayal. And you won.”
He leaned into her.
But as he closed his eyes, the weight of legacy returned.
Edward may have been
caught.
But the damage had already begun rippling.
And the war wasn’t over yet.
