Noel immediately moved the box away before Chloe could reach it.
Chloe's hand froze in the air, and her surprised smile suddenly faded. "What do you mean by this? Wasn't it supposed to be a gift for me? Why don't you give it to me? Are you trying to keep it for yourself?"
Noel calmly replied, "It's not for you. It's for the beautiful lady next to you. You're not the one it's meant for. You're not beautiful at all, so please don't get ahead of yourself."
Chloe's face turned bright red with embarrassment, and her body shook with anger.
She cursed in her mind, 'Damn it! This guy is doing this on purpose to humiliate me. He deliberately made it seem like the gift was for me, only to turn around and say it wasn't.'
She also realized that the person behind this guy wasn't ordinary, and despite how furious she was, she couldn't afford to lash out. All she could do was glare at Olivia with as much contempt as she could muster.
Olivia, still a little confused, asked, "It's for me?"
"Yes, please accept the gift from my boss," Noel replied smoothly.
"But who is your boss? Why would he give me such an expensive gift?" Olivia asked, genuinely puzzled.
"My boss prefers to remain anonymous for now. You don't need to know who he is. Please just accept the gift. He mentioned that he was negotiating a business deal earlier.
"The other party refused his terms, but after he glanced at you, the other party immediately changed their stance. My boss believes it was you who brought him luck, and that's why he wants to thank you with this gift."
Olivia thought this was all a bit ridiculous. She wondered, 'What kind of reason is that? Just because he saw me, and he landed the deal? This sounds absurd.'
Noel insisted, "Please accept it, ma'am. My boss said if you didn't accept it, he'd have me shot. You're my last hope, so please, take the gift as a favor to me."
Olivia felt like she was being placed on some moral pedestal, as if refusing would mean she was condemning someone to death.
At that moment, Chloe slyly nudged Dylan over.
Dylan said in a low and firm tone, "She's my wife, and it's inappropriate for her to accept such an extravagant gift from your boss.
"Take it back and tell him that we appreciate his kind gesture, but we don't need it. If he's willing to share his contact details, I'll go thank him on behalf of my wife."
Chloe chimed in, "Exactly. She's married. How can she accept gifts from other men? Marriage means loyalty. No flirting is allowed."
Noel let out a chuckle. "Oh, so in Gravellia, a married woman can't even accept a gift on her own? Is marriage there about love, or is it more like a transaction?"
Dylan and Chloe's faces clouded with fury.
Noticing the way Chloe and Dylan were holding hands, Noel continued, "So this beautiful married lady can't accept a gift from another man, but this married gentleman can flirt with other women right in front of his wife?
"You've brought your mistress into the presence of your wife. Perhaps this morally questionable gentleman should take care of his own behavior before policing others."
Dylan's face turned ashen with rage. He wrenched his hand away from Chloe's, a hostile air emanating from him.
Noel turned to Olivia, a smile playing on his lips. "Beautiful lady, now that you understand, are you ready to accept the gift?"
Dylan, clearly enraged, threatened in Gravellian. "Olivia, don't accept it. If you want something, I can buy it for you."
Olivia didn't plan to accept the gift, feeling suspicious that there was some hidden agenda. She didn't believe the story Noel had just told.
No one would give away a 3-billion-dollar necklace for no reason, no matter how wealthy they were. Even if she were in need of money, she wouldn't dare accept such a thing.
