Olivia shot him a glance, her tone flat and dismissive as she said, "Oh, congrats. Must be nice having so many women lining up to be your mom and take care of a man-child like you."
Dylan's face went dark with anger. "You're absolutely hopeless. The second you realize you can't win me over, you start throwing personal attacks. Do you really think pulling this kind of stunt will get my attention?"
Sometimes when someone says something completely absurd, it really makes others want to laugh.
Olivia couldn't help but let out a laugh, thoroughly amused by his ridiculous theory.
She said, "If you honestly believe this is all just some stunt to get your attention, then just ignore me. That way, no matter what tricks I pull, they won't work.
"Do you realize what you've been doing these days? I ignore you, and you come running. I curse you and even hit you, and you convince yourself I must be madly in love with you, that I'm just using a different tactic to get your attention.
"You're making it hard not to suspect that maybe, just maybe, you don't hate me nearly as much as you claim and you actually care about me.
"Otherwise, why would you get so worked up every time I ignore you? Why go out of your way to say dumb things just to piss me off and force me to pay attention?"
Of course, Olivia didn't actually think Dylan cared about her or liked her. But she knew that deliberately twisting his feelings would make him avoid her like the plague, and he'd finally stop bothering her.
It was true that Dylan had been furious when she pulled away, but that wasn't love—he just wasn't used to her not fussing over him.
Even swapping out a pillow that people have slept on for years can keep them up at night.
Not to mention, for the past three years, Olivia had basically been his housekeeper—handling his meals, his tea, ironing and organizing his clothes, even lighting incense to help him sleep.
She'd even learned how to give massages and rubbed his shoulders and back every night before bed.
Anyone would feel thrown off if their super-attentive "housekeeper" suddenly stopped caring for them. So, Olivia was certain it wasn't love—Dylan just couldn't handle her indifference.
Dylan instantly flew into a rage, his hands clenched into fists. "You're delusional! There's no way I'd ever like you. I came here to warn you—stop trying your tricks on me."
Olivia snorted, "And I'll say it again—if you really think I'm playing games, then just don't take the bait. After all, my so-called trick is to ignore you and stay away from you. As long as you don't react, no one will be affected.
"But why are you so mad? Clearly, you care. You can't stand it when I ignore you."
Dylan's face flushed, but he couldn't come up with a single word to fight back.
That was because Olivia's logic made perfect sense, while his was all over the place. In the end, all he could do was storm off to his study, fuming with embarrassment.
"He's so rude—he couldn't even be bothered to close the door for me," Olivia grumbled, walking over to shut it herself.
Just as she was about to shut the door, Chloe suddenly rushed over, shoved the door open, and glared at her with a nasty look.
"You really are something, managing to hook Dylan," she sneered. "He used to be so indifferent to you—never even spoke to you unless necessary. And now? He's always the one coming to you. And he's not cold anymore. You must be feeling pretty smug, huh?"
Olivia's lips twitched. 'Yeah, he's not cold anymore,' she thought. 'He comes by every day just to yell at me and put me down—honestly, I'd take the cold shoulder over this.
