'What's there to be smug about? No wonder they end up together. Their logic is equally bizarre.'
She gave a half-smile and said, "If you think my little tricks are that effective, want me to teach you? Just do what I did—go slap him across the face twice. I guarantee he'll start seeing you in a whole new light."
Chloe couldn't stand Olivia's arrogance and raised her hand to slap her. "You bitch! How dare you try to seduce my husband? I'll make you pay—"
Olivia caught Chloe's wrist with her right hand and slapped her across the face with her left. The crisp sound of the slap echoed down the wide hallway.
Chloe let out a miserable scream. It took her a few seconds to recover. She glared at Olivia, eyes wide with rage. "Y-You hit me?!"
Olivia shook off her hand. "It's not like this is the first time I've slapped you. Why are you so surprised?"
Chloe's chest heaved with rage, her voice trembling. "How dare you be so arrogant?! You stole my husband and even hit me. You shameless homewrecker!"
Olivia chuckled and replied, "Do you even hear yourself? Dylan is my husband. You're the homewrecker.
"You show up acting all self-righteous and try to hit me. I was just defending myself. You should be grateful I'm kind enough not to get back at you."
Chloe screamed, "So what if you're his wife on paper? The one he loves is me. The one he doesn't love is the real homewrecker!"
Olivia replied coolly, "Then you have even less right to talk. You know perfectly well why Dylan likes you."
Chloe clenched her fists tightly. Her eyes burned red with fury, but underneath, she was deeply unsettled.
She thought, 'Dylan only likes me because he thinks I'm the one who saved his life—when in fact, it's Olivia who did. If the truth ever comes out, and I lose that advantage, will Dylan still care about me?
'I've been with Dylan for eight years—ever since I lied to him at sixteen, telling him I was the one who saved him. Even without the backstory, eight years should be enough to build something real, right? But I don't dare bet on it...'
Suddenly, an idea flashed through Chloe's mind. Since that credit didn't belong to her, she'd earn one for herself. As long as she truly saved Dylan once, then even if that lie came to light, she wouldn't have anything to fear.
Chloe shot Olivia a vicious glare, spat out "Just you wait," and ran off to the study.
Olivia figured Chloe was going to tattle to Dylan, and that he'd be coming to defend his precious girlfriend any minute now.
She cracked her knuckles, already gearing up for a good fight. If the two idiots showed up, she'd beat the crap out of them.
But she waited for a long time, and neither of them came. Rolling up her sleeves, she marched straight to the study.
The moment she opened the door, she saw Chloe sitting on Dylan's lap, her arms wrapped around his neck, looking shy and a little nervous.
"Honey, how about I give you a baby?" Chloe asked.
Dylan sat there, staring down in silence. Normally, he would've pushed her off right away. No way would he have a kid out of wedlock.
But just thinking about Olivia's attitude and all the things she'd said to him made his chest burn with anger.
He definitely didn't like Olivia. To prove it to himself, he wrapped his arms around Chloe's waist. Their faces slowly drew closer.
Just as their lips were about to touch, the study door was pushed open. They turned and saw Olivia barging in.
A faint smile tugged at the corner of Dylan's lips as he thought, 'She said she didn't care about me, but her actions tell a different story.
'The second she saw me with another woman, she just had to interrupt. And she still dares to claim she doesn't like me?'
