Only then did Dylan and Julian finally let her go.
Olivia politely helped Charlie over to a table. Just as they were about to sit down, she bent slightly and whispered in his ear, her lips barely moving, "Don't you dare say I'm pregnant, or I swear, I'll hang myself at your front door tonight."
Charlie's lips trembled hard. When he looked up, Olivia was already sitting across from him, smiling sweetly, her wrist extended toward him.
Charlie placed his fingers on her wrist to check her pulse. After two or three minutes, he finally pulled his hand back.
"So, Charlie, how is she?" Herbert asked eagerly.
Charlie cleared his throat. Not daring to meet his old friend's eyes, he lowered his gaze to hide his guilty look. "Her stomach is indeed upset. I'll write a prescription when I get back—have her come by tomorrow to pick it up."
Dylan visibly let out a sigh of relief, all the anger and gloom on his face disappearing.
Julian, on the other hand, looked a little disappointed. He thought, 'If Olivia were pregnant, that child would bind us together in a way that couldn't be undone. What a shame.'
Chloe stood at the back of the crowd, her eyes blazing with jealousy and anger.
All night, she'd been nothing but a wallflower, drifting from group to group, trying to make connections—only to be ignored. She wanted to talk to Dylan, but never got the chance.
Dylan had completely brushed Chloe off. And yet, the moment Olivia showed even the slightest sign of distress, Dylan got all worked up.
Whether he was happy or mad about Olivia's pregnancy didn't matter. The fact that his mood was affected by Olivia proved he cared.
If he didn't care, he wouldn't have gotten so emotional—whether it was about Olivia being pregnant or just having stomach problems.
A sense of crisis kept growing inside Chloe. She thought, 'I have to move up my plan. I need to create a moment where I can save Dylan and become indispensable.
'No, that still isn't enough. If the opportunity presents itself, I want Olivia gone for good.'
The party went on without any further drama. When the event ended, Olivia and Dylan stayed the night at the Klein residence.
The next morning, after leaving the Klein residence, Olivia went to a fruit shop, bought a carefully selected gift basket, and visited Charlie's home alone.
Once inside his study, she spoke with sincerity, "I'm sorry, Charlie. I didn't mean to threaten you last night. I've only been pregnant for a little over a month, and I'm worried something might go wrong. I didn't want to turn Herbert's joy into disappointment.
"You know how his health is. He can't handle emotional ups and downs. I thought I'd wait until I'm safely past three or four months—until the pregnancy is stable—then share the good news with him."
Charlie said, "You're so thoughtful. I don't blame you. But you're not wrong to be concerned. This pregnancy isn't very stable."
Olivia's heart suddenly skipped a beat. That was just a random excuse she'd come up with—but it actually turned out to be true. "Charlie, is there any way to keep this baby? I really need this child. Please, you have to help me."
Charlie said, "You've been too anxious lately, with too much on your mind. Emotional stress can affect fetal development. And since you're carrying twins, you need to be extra careful. You must stay relaxed and maintain a cheerful mood.
"Even without a pregnancy, being overly stressed can lead to real health problems. Many illnesses start from emotional strain. Don't brush it off just because it's not an issue with your organs. It's still serious."
Olivia was shocked that she was pregnant with twins. She'd never had kids before, but she'd read online about how tough it was for women carrying multiple babies and the toll it took on their bodies.
'Great, just what I need—one more thing to stress about,' she thought. Forcing a smile, she said, "Thank you, Charlie. I'll be careful."
Charlie sighed. "All medicine has side effects. You're still very early in your pregnancy, so I won't prescribe anything just yet. But you should consider seeing a therapist—get some emotional guidance."
Olivia thanked him and left the house. She didn't go to a therapist. She went straight home.
But the moment she stepped into the living room and saw the familiar figure, her heart nearly stopped. 'Julian?! What the hell is he doing in my house with Dylan?' she thought.
