Kieran's career took off like a rocket after that. With my family's subtle backing, he quickly carved out his place in Hollywood and amassed a loyal following.
He'd promised me once he hit A-list status, we'd go public. No more hiding in the shadows. I'd started dreaming about our future together.
When New Year's rolled around, I decided to bring Kieran home. I couldn't wait to introduce him to my family—to finally reveal who I really was. I kept picturing his stunned expression when he realized the truth. But on my birthday, he blindsided me with a betrayal I'd never forget.
He crushed me without hesitation. Threw me away like yesterday's trash—all for his precious career.
The bastard didn't even look back.
After everything I'd done for him, after all my sacrifices, he discarded me without a second thought. The pain was excruciating, but through the hurt, one thought burned bright: You'll regret this, Kieran. I'll make damn sure of it.
That afternoon, our family chauffeur drove me back to the estate.
The mansion buzzed with activity—early arrivals mingled for the evening's festivities. Most guests didn't recognize me, which wasn't surprising. I'd always flown under the radar, and my parents had shielded me from the spotlight.
I spotted my parents schmoozing with D.C. elites near the grand staircase. Needing air, I wandered the grounds with our Pomeranian when I heard the unmistakable sound of fake laughter.
There they were—Margot and Kieran holding court with his film crew, everyone fawning over them like they were royalty. The sycophancy was nauseating.
"Margot, you're a miracle worker! Scoring the Fitzgerald estate for our wrap party? Unreal!"
"This place is legendary! I've heard billionaires get turned away at the gate!"
"All thanks to you two! Kieran, your performance carried the film! And Margot—when's the wedding? Don't forget our invites!"
Margot preened like a peacock while Kieran played humble with that practiced smile of his.
"Oh please," Margot simpered, "it wasn't easy convincing the Fitzgeralds. The heiress and I have... a special connection. She insisted I bring you all tonight." Her tone turned sharp. "But mind your manners—this isn't some Vegas club. One wrong move and you're out. Even I can't save you then."
The crew nodded like trained seals. I nearly gagged.
Special connection? This bitch had slapped me six hours ago. Now she was strutting through my home like she owned it?
My Pomeranian let out a sharp yip—their heads snapped toward us.
Margot's face twisted in disgust. "Ugh. You again? Like a bad penny, always turning up to ruin the fun."
Kieran's smile vanished. The look in his eyes said it all—he knew he'd just made the biggest mistake of his life.
