Margot whirled around, her voice dripping with icy venom. "How the hell did you get in here? This isn't a place for trash like you."
Kieran's jaw tightened as he cut in, "Lila, haven't you caused enough damage already?" His eyes darkened with warning. "I don't care how you slipped in, but you need to get out—now. Unless you're itching for a world of pain."
He lunged forward, ready to drag me out himself, but Margot sidestepped, blocking him with a sharp glare.
"Think before you act," she hissed, her voice low and dangerous. "We're at Moonlight Manor. If the Fitzgeralds find out some nobody snuck in, it won't just be her head on the line—it'll be ours."
Kieran froze, conflict flashing across his face. Margot scoffed, tilting her head mockingly. "What, you wanna play hero? Go ahead. But remember—one word from the Fitzgeralds, and Velvetline Entertainment vanishes overnight. Poof."
The color drained from Kieran's face. He dropped his gaze, shrinking back like a scolded dog.
Margot turned to the crew with a snap of her fingers. "Call security. Tell them we caught a thief."
As a few scrambled off, she stalked toward me—then crack—her palm struck my cheek so hard my vision blurred.
I barely had time to react. She actually hit me—in my own damn home.
Margot's lips curled into a vicious smile. "If it weren't for Kieran's soft heart, you'd already be in a ditch." She leaned in, her breath hot against my ear. "Who do you think you are, you worthless nobody? I could erase you before lunch and not lose a minute of sleep."
Her laugh was poison. "I considered letting you crawl away, but no—you just had to waltz into hell yourself. Moonlight Manor? You think a peasant like you belongs here? The consequences will ruin you."
A sudden, piercing scream cut her off.
The Pomeranian in my arms had seen everything. With a furious yelp, it launched itself at Margot, sinking tiny teeth into her ankle.
Chaos erupted. Margot shrieked, kicking wildly as Kieran and the crew rushed forward, torn between helping her and recoiling from the snarling fluffball.
"KILL THAT MUTT!" she screeched, face twisted in rage. "NOW!"
The crew hesitated—until Margot snarled, "Whoever guts that rat gets the lead in my next film."
Greed lit their eyes. They advanced.
I threw myself between them and the dog, baring my teeth. "Touch him and I'll end you."
Margot's laugh was shrill. "What are you waiting for? DO IT!"
Then—
"ENOUGH!"
The roar froze everyone mid-step.
Walton Gries, founder of Velvetline Entertainment and a man who'd clawed his way from nothing to empire, stormed into the room like a thunderclap.
The crew bowed instantly, voices trembling. "Mr. Gries!"
His glare could've melted steel. "Are you trying to get yourselves killed? Acting like rabid animals in this house?!" He jabbed a finger at the floor. "Do you realize where you're standing? Or are you just that eager to dig your own graves?"
Silence. Even Kieran looked ready to bolt.
Margot, clutching her bleeding ankle, fluttered her lashes. "Mr. Gries, that—that creature attacked me! I was just trying to protect everyone..."
Walton's expression turned lethal. "Shut your mouth before I shut it for you."
Kieran's jaw tightened as he cut in, "Lila, haven't you caused enough damage already?" His eyes darkened with warning. "I don't care how you slipped in, but you need to get out—now. Unless you're itching for a world of pain."
He lunged forward, ready to drag me out himself, but Margot sidestepped, blocking him with a sharp glare.
