"Mr. Fitzgerald, Mrs. Fitzgerald—I swear I can explain!" Walton's voice cracked with panic, his hands trembling. "I had no idea that wretched woman was targeting your daughter, much less breaking the law! Effective immediately, she's fired from Velvetline. I'll draft the termination papers myself!"
My father's response was ice-cold, each word measured yet carrying the weight of a judge's gavel. "Today is my daughter's birthday. I won't waste another second on your incompetence. Clean up your own mess. And if I ever see you causing a disturbance on Fitzgerald property again..."
He let the threat hang in the air before continuing, eyes glinting like steel. "But understand this—when your employee struck my child, she struck the entire Fitzgerald name. That insult won't be forgotten."
Walton's mouth flapped uselessly before security seized him, hauling him toward the exits. Margot fared worse—her legs had turned to jelly, forcing the guards to carry her limp form out like a sack of garbage.
Her fate was already written. Even if I showed mercy, half the city would trip over themselves to punish her on our behalf. Crossing a Fitzgerald meant signing your own ruin.
As for the rest—the sycophantic crew and hangers-on—they barely registered as I watched security drag them away, their faces ashen like ghosts seeing hell's gates. Tonight was supposed to be their golden ticket. Instead, it became their professional obituary. Not a soul in Hollywood would touch them now.
Then there was Kieran. He stood frozen, his Adam's apple bobbing before the lies spilled out. "Lila, I was trapped! Margot forced me into this!"
His voice cracked like a teenager's. "She made me dump you—you know how cutthroat this industry is for nobodies like me! Without connections, I couldn't refuse her! She threatened to hurt you if I didn't obey!"
He took a shaky step forward, desperation oozing from every pore. "I love you, Lila. I messed up, but give me one chance to—"
There was a time his puppy-dog eyes might've worked. Now? I felt nothing.
"Funny," I said, tilting my head. "All those nights you whispered about our future, and yet the second Margot dangled fame in front of you..." My smile turned arctic. "Tell me, Kieran—how many 'reluctant' boyfriends buy their mistakes diamond bracelets? How many 'victims' get lead roles in their producer's next blockbuster?"
His flinch told me everything.
"Now that you know my last name carries more weight than Margot's entire bank account, you come crawling back." I stepped into his space, watching sweat bead on his forehead. "But here's the truth—you and Margot deserve each other. Two greedy little climbers who'd sell their souls for a taste of power."
I turned away, leaving him choking on his own ambition. "Enjoy the spotlight while it lasts."
