                    Molly’s POV
Octavia must have regretted her words because she smiled nervously and tried to take them back.
“That’s not what I meant. What I was saying was…”
Gianni didn’t allow her to finish her sentence before cutting in. “Roger, I wanted to wait until you were older, but since she already said it, it’s true. You weren’t formed from my DNA, but the moment I laid eyes on you, you were mine, and I never stopped loving you.”
Gianni’s words were honest, as his gaze bore into Roger's. The boy’s expression was unreadable, and a deafening silence took over the table as we waited for him to say something, but it took time.
The more it was delayed, the more anxious we got, and for the first time, I saw tears in Roger’s eyes as he asked in a sorrow-filled voice,
“So, are you going to let me go?” I felt relieved that his only fear was losing the only man he had grown to love as a father.
Gianni smiled, and I knew things were going to get better. Octavia was already nervous, seeing that things were probably not going to go her way.
“Never. Like I said, you are my son. I promised your father on his deathbed that I would take care of your mother, and when I found out she was pregnant, I vowed to make you mine. No one can take you from me,” Gianni said seriously.
Roger embraced him tightly, and I wiped a tear from the corner of my eye. Love was very precious, and this moment reminded me of my late parents.
“I love you, daddy,” Roger beamed. I felt so happy that what seemed like a major problem was quickly resolved through the unprecedented love of a father for his son.
It didn’t matter if it was biological. What mattered was them accepting each other against the odds.
Octavia did not seem satisfied. Clearly, she was upset that, things didn’t work out the way she wanted.
“Roger, Vanni is only taking care of you out of obligation. He doesn’t love you,” she interjected, forcing the father and son to pull away from each other’s embrace.
What I admired about Gianni was his decision to prioritize winning over Octavia by first connecting with his son. "I love you so much, son. Your father saved my life by taking a bullet for me, but that doesn't affect my love for you." Roger's smile indicated his belief in Gianni's words, but before they could embrace again, Octavia's bitter voice interrupted.
"Roger, don't listen to him. I'm your mother. You have to come with me," she insisted, but I had had enough.
"So, he goes with you, and then what? You know how much Gianni cares for Roger. If he's with you, Gianni will have to chase after you to see his son. Is that your plan to win his heart?"
Octavia's eyes widened in surprise at my direct confrontation, and I noticed a smirk on Gianni's lips. I wasn't finished with Octavia yet.
"Are you surprised that I see through your intentions?" I continued, not giving her a chance to respond. Her shocked expression was satisfying to witness.
"It's not that difficult to see through your plans. You never cared for Roger when Gianni used to visit every weekend. Now that he's not around, you're trying to get his attention by claiming the child you previously rejected," I pointed out.
"If you want what's rightfully yours, go to court. But since you have no leverage against Gianni anymore, I suggest you pack your bags. Oh, and you won't be riding with us."
Even if Octavia pursued legal action, I knew Gianni would prevail because she had no source of income. It would be unwise for her to challenge someone like Gianni. Roger, on the other hand, seemed eager to support me.
"Well said, Mom," he exclaimed, embracing me as Gianni instructed the bodyguard to keep Octavia away from his house. "She must never be allowed back in."
As the reality of her defeat sank in, Octavia pleaded, "Vanni, you promised to take care of me." Gianni's eyes turned cold, a side of him she had never seen before. Her schemes were exposed, and his anger was evident.
"What have you done? Trying to sabotage my relationship with Molly and take everything dear to me. Gael would understand that I did my best."
Bitches kept losing and falling ever since I reunited with Gianni, and Octavia was no different.
"No, he won't understand because he wanted you to marry me. I heard what he told you on his hospital bed," Octavia declared. Gianni's expression turned sorrowful once again, but his response was firm.
"Then you also heard my answer, and that was a no."
"This is not fair," Octavia yelled. "If Gael had not saved your life, he would still be alive today, and he and our son would have had a happy family," she pointed out. I understood her plan.
She wanted what I wanted, but it turned out she was too late because over the years, she wasn't able to win Gianni's heart.
"The reason I didn't want to give birth to a child was that I didn't want to be a single mother. But now look, you took my son to have a perfect family, so what about me?" Sorrow filled her eyes and her voice.
