Molly’s POV
Roger left after uttering the words, as if it wasn't him, and hurried up the stairs.
Gianni was right. Anyone could betray him, but not Roger. As for Hank's stance, it remained uncertain.
"What do you want, Mom?" Gianni asked sarcastically. Beatrix smiled and replied, "Just so you know, I'm not your mother."
"Of course. Your son is right beside you," Gianni retorted, Beatrix's gaze fixed on Octavia. "Did you tell him everything?"
"So what?" Octavia replied in annoyance, her face and eyes flushed red.
"What did they do to you?" I inquired, and Gianni ordered, "Remove the tape from her mouth. We are all tied up anyway. Or are you afraid I can still harm you even with my arms and legs bound?"
His words seemed to provoke Beatrix, as she commanded, "Remove the duct tape from her mouth." One of the bodyguards complied, but Octavia appeared too exhausted to speak.
"We finally have the scoundrel here," an elderly man spoke from the dining table, and the others nodded in agreement.
"Yes, Giovanni has become a menace, worse than his father. It's time we eliminate him too."
Expecting a response from Gianni, he chuckled. "You will all pay for what you did to Molly and Octavia. You tortured Octavia and nearly killed Molly by depriving her of oxygen."
"Octavia is mine. I can do as I please with her," Gael retorted as he approached me. "If you don't cooperate, I might just take it out on your beloved Molly too," he said sarcastically.
I had managed to cut the rope, but my hands remained behind my back to avoid detection.
Hank took a back seat as Gianni confronted Gael. "You seem to be forgetting something."
"What's that?" Gael asked, looking slightly apprehensive as Gianni sneered. "Dead men don't talk."
"I'm not dead," Gael argued, to which Gianni responded seriously, "You will be, along with everyone here who isn't on my side."
His unwavering confidence made me wonder if he had already devised a plan to escape the restraints.
"Bold words for someone in your position," a voice from the dining table remarked, prompting Gianni to address him.
"Uncle Roy, I hope you've said your goodbyes to your family because I'll ensure they receive your remains in pieces." The middle-aged man tensed at Gianni's words, speaking in a panicked tone.
"Beatrix, are you certain you have everything under control?" It appeared that they had all been deceived by Beatrix and were playing into her hands, but she remained confident.
"Roy, are you afraid of your nephew? Don't worry. I will take back everything that was once mine," Beatrix taunted.
Gianni chuckled, unfazed by her threats. "Do you truly believe you can take anything from me? Initially, I had seventy percent of the shares, but what if I told you that everything now belongs to me? I have acquired all your shares," he declared, causing their faces to pale in shock.
"You must be joking," Gael questioned, to which Beatrix responded, "Of course he is. He has no knowledge of where the will is. Barrister Clayton has passed away," she revealed with a mournful expression, but Gianni scoffed.
"Passed away? Or did you have a hand in his death, just like you did with my parents?" Gianni accused.
"Octavia!" Beatrix yelled, her anger flaring as she lunged towards Octavia, but I intervened.
Grabbing the chair I had been sitting on, I struck Beatrix on the head, colliding with Gianni in the process. It seemed we both acted simultaneously to protect Octavia, and the grateful look in her eyes made it all worthwhile.
"Kill them," Gael ordered, but Beatrix interjected from the ground as I untied Octavia. "No. If you kill him, everything will go to charity."
"I'm glad you're aware of that," Gianni smirked. His father had done a thorough job. Any assets that could not be claimed by the rightful owner would be liquidated and donated to charity.
"So, how do you plan to make me sign it now?"
"Hank, bring Roger," Beatrix shouted, but Gianni's voice cut through hers. "Hank, eliminate them all except for four."
Confusion clouded my mind as a sudden force pushed both me and Octavia to the ground, followed by the sound of gunshots ringing in the air.
Screams mingled with the gunfire, and soon, it was all over. However, there were more bodyguards present than I had anticipated.
"I said all of them," Gianni stated firmly, to which Hank replied, "They are on your side."
Shock coursed through me as I struggled to my feet with Gianni's assistance. "Gianni, did you know about this all along?" How did he know that Hank would obey his command?
Hank rushed to Octavia's side. "Are you okay? Who shot her?" He enquired angrily but no one could tell. The bullet could have been from the opposing side.
However, he was helping to stop the bleeding, but from the corner of my eye, Beatrix was reaching for a gun when Gianni pressed his foot on her hand, eliciting a scream from her.
“Do you think I would make death so easy for you?” His expression was terrifying, but I couldn't understand what was happening. There were numerous dead bodies on the ground, but Uncle Roy, or whoever he was, was trembling on the floor with another elder.
“What the hell is going on here?” I asked as a knife flew through the air and pierced Gael's arm, causing a gun to fall from his hand.
Following the trajectory of the knife, I saw it was Roger, and the boy seemed unnervingly calm. “Gianni, please tell me what the hell is going on?”
“I'll tell you,” Hank said after covering Octavia with his jacket. “How is she?” I inquired, and he smiled.
“It was just a scratch. She passed the test, but are you alright?” He asked me. I was confused, and Octavia and I simultaneously asked, “What test?”
Gianni appeared puzzled by that part as well, but before Hank could explain, Beatrix was cursing amidst painful groans. “You fucking son of a bitch. I'll kill you all.” Another knife came flying from the top of the stairs, piercing through her thigh.
Roger seemed to have impeccable aim, and the boy looked fierce.
