Hank’s Pov
Things were not supposed to turn out this way, but my reason for not following Gio's plan was because I couldn't trust Octavia.
I thought she was more cunning than Nicole, but after being interrogated by Gael, I realized that people could truly change.
This made me regret all the torture I watched her endure, although I tried to minimize it and prevent Gael and his mother from eliminating her.
However, I found satisfaction in the fact that Gio understood the message when I handed him a knife after removing it from where I had pressed it against his neck. The message was clear.
Beatrix and her son were easily convinced. Initially, I hesitated to accept the contract, but the agency insisted that the client wanted the best and highly recommended me with an attractive payment offer. Intrigued, I agreed.
Upon discovering that Beatrix was the one trying to contract me, I accepted her request, even offering to do it for free as a surprise for Gio.
This gesture won her trust, allowing me to manipulate the situation through Gio's bodyguards. When I convinced them to resign, they complied, understanding that it was to protect their master. I knew they would disobey any order to harm Gio or Molly.
Roger was an excellent partner, and our mutual understanding allowed him to act without needing explicit commands from me.
Our focus shifted to Beatrix on the floor, but Gio suddenly punched me, causing me to fall.
"What the heck, Gio? I'm not the enemy, and at least, you should have prepped me" I protested, noticing his distress.
This attack was unexpected from someone like him so I made to attempt to defend myself or avoid it.
"You were supposed to protect her, not subject her to torture," he admonished, referring to Octavia. I took responsibility, apologizing for not trusting her initially.
“I’m sorry. I just didn’t trust her before.”
"We'll discuss this later," Gio said, redirecting his attention to the two individuals on the floor. When Gio mentioned "except four," he meant Beatrix, Gael, Uncle Roy, and Barrister Tom.
These four were the instigators of the controversies within the Dawson Group. “Dad, I'm sorry, but it was all Uncle Hank's plan," Roger apologized as he descended the stairs. Gio ruffled his hair and smiled. "I'm so proud of you, son. There's nothing to forgive."
"I'm your father, Roger," Gael groaned, still bleeding from the stab inflicted by Roger's knife. Roger glared at him, and his words made me laugh.
"Gael, those times Uncle Hank told me to pretend you were my father to protect Dad were the most torturous in my life. Who gave you the idea that you could claim a child just because of sharing DNA?"
Roger's training was harsh, I had to admit. He missed out on his childhood, but I honestly loved what he had become. The boy could engage in an adult conversation, and most times, I forgot about his age due to his height matching his wit.
"You little brat," Beatrix began, receiving a kick in her rib from Octavia. "This is for what you did to me, and don't you dare talk to my son like that."
I had to admit that Gio did well in training her in just a few days. Beatrix rose to a sitting position on the floor, her thighs bleeding from Roger's knife. She dared not remove it as that would worsen the bleeding.
"You won't get away with this. None of you will," she yelled. Gio glared at her. "Even if you live to see another day, you will have no means of survival because this house belongs to my father, and it’s among the assets he willed to me."
Beatrix's gaze darkened, and Gael looked lost. "Mom, what does he mean? I told you we should have stuck to the original plan," he said, deflated. Octavia replied,
"That plan failed before it started because I told Vanni everything."
Enraged, Gael moved to attack Octavia with his uninjured hand, but that was the worst mistake of his life.
Octavia gave him a beating of a lifetime, leaving him half-conscious on the floor. This seemed to be her vengeance for all Gael did to her earlier.
"You! You were never like this before," Beatrix said with fear in her eyes as she dragged herself to where Gael lay.
Octavia shrugged with no sign of regret. "Molly trained me, so what?"
Gael's mouth and arm were bleeding, his face swollen, and he could barely move. What amazed me was the fact that Gio allowed Molly to train Octavia. Weren’t they what I would call rivals before?
“Gio, I found out about Beatrix’s secret textile company in Virginia. I got a hold of the documents,” I informed. Beatrix went mad.
“No, it’s mine. You can’t have it.” If she wasn’t injured, I was sure she would have caused a commotion, but sadly, I had already taken out all her loyal bodyguards.
“Giovanni, it’s indeed not fair for you to take what does not belong to you,” Barrister Tom said. I felt sorry for him.
“I wanted to save you for the last, but now, you would be the first,” Gio said before stabbing the middle-aged man in the spine, earning painful screams from him.
“Gio, I can be your father,” he let out a painful groan. Even if he survived the stab, I knew he would never be the same again.
“But you are not, and you helped her to steal my family’s money to start a business. Thanks to Hank, it’s all mine plus everything your family owns, I would take from them.”
I hadn’t mentioned it yet, but Gio already figured that the middle-aged man was equally leeching off the Dawson’s group because of the funds controlled by Beatrix, which were in hundreds of millions.
Barrister Tom seemed like he had something to say, but his death came too soon.
Gio turned to Uncle Roy. “Your turn,” he said. The elderly man was shivering on the floor. “Gio, please, forgive me.”
“Forgive you?” Gio looked around sarcastically. “It didn’t look like you were going to show us mercy when you had dominion, did you?”
What Uncle Roy revealed next was unexpected.
