                    Giovanni’s POV
I was greatly upset because I never let people like Melody and her friend off the hook.
It bothered me that my employee was being mean to a woman who had once saved my life, an ex-girlfriend whom I had promised to help.
Despite my determination to declare them missing, Molly somehow prevented me from doing so. I was acting in her best interest, so if she didn’t want it, there wasn’t much I could do about it.
Upon returning home, I was surprised to find out that she had Roger in mind.
Marie was already aware of my strict rules regarding children's toys, as I wanted to ensure Roger's intellectual development surpassed mine.
In the underworld, dangers lurked, and age or innocence did not matter to those who sought to harm us. We lived each day prepared for any threat that may come our way.
I provided Roger with books to enhance his cognitive abilities, even though he was only four years old. Roger was exceptionally bright, reading and comprehending fluently by the age of three.
Despite his intelligence, I knew that his childish nature would occasionally surface.
Roger was no ordinary child. His birth was shrouded in darkness, and I sensed that a desire for vengeance would eventually consume him. It was my duty to prepare him for the challenges that lay ahead.
Just as I was making progress in convincing him that toys had no place in his life, Molly's gift arrived.
“What is that?” I inquired, realizing that I couldn't fault her for not knowing the rules.
As for her persistent inquiries about the fate of those men, I chose not to disclose the truth to her, as her compassionate nature remained a vulnerability.
I couldn't pinpoint what made her nervous when I asked a simple question, but she stared at Roger and replied,
"It's a gift I picked up for him, but I'm just realizing you prefer him reading."
I thought she was still as naive as before, but she was learning fast now.
"At least you didn't lose your brain."
Good thing the betrayal taught her a valuable lesson, but my words must have been too sharp.
Sorrow crossed her face, and she seemed offended. "What do you mean by that?"
As much as I hated people calling her beautiful but lacking in brains, Molly was indeed so naive that one could think she wasn't smart.
However, remembering how she saved my life, I always knew she was intelligent, but the problem was her soft heart.
About to speak, Roger's voice overshadowed mine. "Dad, who is she?"
I turned in his direction and calmly explained, "Her name is Molly, and she's going to be your nanny."
I saw how Roger's gaze darkened. He had my eyes, but everything else about him was different, including his hair color, which he got from his mother.
“I hate nannies," he yelled, his anger rising. It was true. The fifth nanny had left about a month ago, and the agency was hesitant to provide me with another one.
Although Roger had caused the previous nannies to quit, I was unaware of the reasons. However, I couldn't let Molly stay without taking any action.
There were maids to handle everything except Roger. None of them could get near him unless he allowed it.
In Molly's desperation for revenge, I knew she would give this job her best shot, which is why I hired her.
"I understand, but she's going to stay here," I explained.
The previous nannies would come to prepare him for preschool and leave once he fell asleep at night. I would return before he woke up because Roger always woke up screaming.
During those times, I was there to comfort him myself. Even with the brief moments he spent with the nannies, he managed to drive them away or make them quit.
My honesty seemed to only make matters worse.
"Send her away. I don't want her," Roger yelled. I could sense his anger fluctuating, but I had to calm him down.
He was a small human with big emotions. Taking deep breaths, I spoke softly to him.
"Listen, Molly is a friend of mine and will stay here, okay?"
I softened my voice, but my message was stern, which only upset him more. He turned and ran upstairs in a fit of anger.
This wasn't the first time we had a situation like this, but it was worse this time because I mentioned that Molly was my friend.
I was about to go after him, but Molly asked, "Do you mind if I try?"
I was hesitant, considering she was the cause of the problem. I had to be honest with her, "Not a good idea."
Molly persisted, and I couldn't tell if she was trying to impress me or genuinely wanted to help.
"Let me try since I'll be with him most of the time," she insisted.
"He's in preschool," I reminded her. Roger wouldn't be home during the day, giving her time for her rounds.
Molly was determined, "So, after preschool."
I relented, "Okay, go ahead." I directed the bodyguards to move her things to the room next to mine.
I followed closely, making sure not to escalate the situation. I showed her to her room and said, "This will be your room," pointing to where her belongings were being taken.
She nodded and knocked on Roger's door, receiving an angry response, "
Go away."
I had expected Roger to wake up screaming in the night, but it was Molly who did. I realized Roger must have played a trick on her.
