Molly’s POV
“What are you up to, Molly?” He asked in a serious tone but for some reason, I was not afraid of him.
I folded my arms and glared at Gianni, explaining the situation vividly to him.
“If you handle getting him ready for preschool every morning, then I won’t have a job, right?” In other words, I would rather stay elsewhere than free-load in his mansion.
I noticed the conflicting look in his eyes and continued, “How did he even get ready this morning, and don’t you travel at all?”
Someone like him would indeed travel a couple of times so who takes care of Roger when he’s away?
“When Dad’s not around, I do everything myself. No one must help me except him,” Roger said defiantly, I was beginning to wonder if he was a toddler or an adult.
The commanding way he spoke mirrored his father but he was too young to have that attitude.
“You’re still too young to do everything yourself. I’m here to help, and if you won’t be my friend or allow me to be your nanny, then let me be your personal maid.”
I was just looking for a way to get him to accept me into his life but the mischievous in his eyes made me want to take back my words.
He sighed, confirming my instinct. “Alright, personal maid, let’s go eat. But you must do everything I say.”
“Enough, Roger. She’s not going to be your personal maid,” Gianni finally interjected, but I was rather concerned about how my relationship with Roger would develop.
“Stay out of it, Gianni. It’s between me and him.”
“Dad, what did she call you? Why should she call you so informally?”
He looked displeased, but Gianni explained to him, “I already told you she was my friend.”
“Alright, I’m starving. But why weren’t you home last night?” He asked, making me realize that Gianni had a boss, and that boss was his son.
Besides keeping him away from toys, he was fulfilling the boy’s every wish.
There was an emergency last night, so I couldn’t come home. Let’s have a meal together, okay?"
Gathering around the large dining table made it feel like a real family, something I never experienced with Wesley.
Due to his parents’ behavior, I usually ate alone in my room, even after preparing the food.
“Dad, this food is terrible,” Roger complained as soon as he tasted it, causing the chef to lower his head.
This little boy seemed to trouble not only me but also all the domestic workers.
“This food is perfect,” I complimented after trying it, but Roger frowned. “I said it’s horrible, so let’s eat out.”
I wasn’t an expert with kids, but I suddenly realized that Roger was taller than the average four-year-old and could use an adult chair without any support.
Additionally, his eating habits were mature. It dawned on me that Roger’s behavior was more fitting for someone twice his age. Considering this, he probably didn’t need those toys.
“Roger, I'm very tired and I have to leave early tomorrow for something important," Gianni refused.
I wondered what the important thing was. Was it the divorce or business? I couldn't wrap my head around it, but Roger was not pleased.
"You said I could have anything. I don't like the food. It tastes terrible."
"Watch your language," Gianni said sternly but he was right. The food was delicious so Roger was just being stubborn.
Having spoken to him so sternly, Roger had tears in his eyes as he left the table in anger.
"Should I go after him?" I asked, unsure if it was a good idea and seeking confirmation but Gianni refused, perhaps understanding that training a young child to be an adult so fast was not the best.
"No. He can't always have his way. He's too young for that."
With his confession, I could not help but ask. "Do you think his rebellion is the result of being without a mother?"
I knew I should not have raised a matter concerning Roger’s mother because Gianni seemed upset by the question, wiping his lips with a napkin.
"I need to rest first."
With the father and son gone, I lost my appetite and decided to take a shower. However, when I reached my designated room, I was stunned.
I have never been poor in my life, but this was a luxury I had never experienced.
For the first time, someone had arranged my clothes for me, even though Gianni had said I was going to work as a nanny.
I was mesmerized by the elegance of the room and the grand chandelier above me. The shower room was as spacious as Wesley's living room, equipped with everything one could need - a shower, jacuzzi, a large vanity, and more.
It all felt like a dream as the water was just the right temperature. I forgot about everything as I lay my head on the soft pillow and silky bedsheet, drifting off to sleep.
However, my peaceful slumber was interrupted when I felt something moving on my body.
It was uncomfortable, so I pushed it away. Then, I felt the movement on my face. Still half-asleep, I brushed it off but eventually reached out to turn on the bedside lamp.
Fear gripped me as I saw creatures crawling in my room, and a scream escaped my throat.
