                    Molly’s POV
I was surprised that Wesley dared to call me his wife after what he did. I had a feeling his desire to meet me was related to the disappearance of the two men he had sent to harm me.
I couldn't bring myself to meet him and take responsibility for something I had no knowledge of.
He was the one who had sent those men to approach me, and if Gianni hadn't saved me, another scandal would have erupted.
“Wesley, the only place I will meet you is in court. Until then, I don't want to see your face,” I said without hesitation.
His response made me chuckle inwardly, but what surprised me the most was Gianni giving his full attention to this pointless call.
Didn't he have more important matters to attend to?
“But I was there for you when everyone else abandoned you. I supported you through the scandal. Come on, don't be like this,” Wesley said, trying to manipulate me as he always did.
It was the same trick he used to make me sign everything over to him, but I was determined not to fall for it again.
"I used to believe that you loved me because of what you did for me, but it seems you were two-timing me all along, with an insurance policy in Kiara. Your son is probably four years old," I confronted him.
Wesley had nothing to lose, as Kiara was the woman he loved, and I was the one he wanted to exploit.
He succeeded in both, making him the current winner in this game of betrayal, but not for long.
"He's only two and a half," Wesley argued, but I chuckled. That boy was almost as tall as Roger.
"That's not true," he insisted, trying to deflect, but I knew what I had seen.
"It is," he continued to deny, and I wondered why I was even arguing about something so trivial.
"Fine. Kiara was pregnant for nine months, and we were married for two. Wesley, just return everything I signed over to you peacefully, and you won't have to face my wrath."
“Hahahahahhaha." I heard his mocking laughter at the end of the line, feeling ashamed that I was just a joke to him.
"Molly, what can someone like you do to someone like me?" His sarcastic words made me want to cry when my eyes locked with Gianni's, and I thought he would be upset. Instead, he gave me an approving nod, and I held back tears.
"Look, the only reason I want to see you is to give you a little money for your upkeep. You can take it from there by finding a job as a waitress," he taunted.
A bitter smile lingered at the corner of my lips, and I took a deep breath before responding.
"Well, thanks for your kindness, but the only thing I need from you is the company and assets."
I was about to say more, but Kiara's annoying voice cut through. Why was I surprised? Perhaps because she wasn't there when I spoke to Wesley last time.
"Come on, Molly. This is the best deal you'll ever have. After the divorce, you will have nothing. At least, that is what happens to an adopted child like you."
Even if they meant what they were saying, why would they care? Obviously, they were trying to lure me to the club to finish what they couldn't last time, and I wasn't going to let them win.
Gianni and I have been apart for a long time, but I have seen enough to understand that he was a very powerful man and wealthier than Wesley.
"Kiara, I can see your end, but it won't be good. At least check whose name the documents are in."
I was not surprised when the call ended abruptly. Wesley must have ended it to prevent me from giving Kiara a clue.
Seems she was just as dumb as I was before, having the divorce papers but not reading what they contained.
Wesley not only outsmarted me but also Kiara, while I have Gianni. Who does she have besides Wesley? I thought I was pathetic, but she was the pathetic one.
I heard someone clapping, bringing me out of my trance. My heart warmed to see that Gianni was pleased with how I handled the call.
About to show my gratitude, there was a knock on the door. "Come in," Gianni said.
“Sir, the footage is ready," a bodyguard entered and said, adding, "I need to access your airdrop."
Giovanni did something on his phone and said to Jace, "Thank you, but call Marie."
The bodyguard smiled a little before he stepped out and returned with Marie.
She had paled when she entered the office again, and I felt pity for her as Giovanni asked her, "You said you were not eavesdropping, so what is this?"
The footage on his phone showed that Marie was indeed eavesdropping.
"I'm sorry. I..."
Giovanni did not allow her to complete her sentence before speaking coldly, "Go and see HR."
I wondered what that meant, but the way Marie pleaded made me understand that he was firing her. For eavesdropping? That was so heartless of him.
"No, sir, please don't do this. It was just one mistake," Marie pleaded. My heart ached for her, but Giovanni's response gave me a hint into his personality.
