Giovanni’s POV
“I don’t have all day, Eleonor.” I was running out of patience when I saw her wasting time at the door.
As she entered the office, I quickly warned her. “Don’t ever dress like this to my office again.”
She knew perfectly well that her services weren’t needed in my office and should have dressed more appropriately but rather, she looked confused and asked me, “But Don, you never complained before.”
I decided to clarify, “Point of correction, don’t come to my office unless summoned.”
It was better that way because I didn’t invite her. I knew she might be wondering why I suddenly began giving her rules, but the reason was that Molly was starting work, and I didn’t want her to get any ideas.
Until she recovered everything Wesley stole from her, she needed peace of mind to focus on her work.
“Okay, I’m sorry, but you haven’t been answering my calls, so I came to check. I have some new girls, and as usual, we wear masks, so you won’t know them, and they won’t know you. Your secret will always be safe with me.”
My mind was preoccupied, so I didn’t have an answer yet. “I will see you tonight, and we can talk then, but you know what I like.”
This topic always saddens my soul. I have never been the same since the night I left Molly. That was the reason I felt it was right not to be in her life, but then that scandal happened, and I felt guiltier, feeling the need to help her through it but I couldn’t trace her.
"I will prepare them, Don. You won't regret it," she said.
"Negotiate the payment with Zak when he's free," I replied. She frowned a little, but I didn't bother to ask why.
It wasn't until a few months ago that Zak made me realize how I had been overpaying these girls. I gave him the responsibility of making the payment on my behalf, but it was still double what the usual market paid because of what I demanded from them each time.
Also, the same girl could not appear before me a second time. Even with a mask, I would know.
If they knew my identity, they most probably would have sold me out like the did to most of these rich men.
As soon as she left, I was confronted with a pile of work, so I focused on the urgent tasks. The remaining work would have to wait until Monday due to its complexity.
"Agatha, please retrieve the signed documents from my desk. I have emailed you the approved ones, but the others should be scheduled for Monday.”
“Prepare an office for Molly as she will be joining us," I instructed my secretary over the intercom. She acknowledged, "Understood, sir."
I couldn't leave Zak to handle the spy situation alone, so after discharging Eleanor and signing some documents, I headed to the basement where he was being held.
To my surprise, Hank was already there. "This is a challenging situation," he hinted, mentioning Don Black's involvement.
The mention of Don Black ignited my anger. He was the cause of the rift between me and Molly, and now I understood why his spy was targeting her.
"Have you determined his whereabouts?"
Hank replied with a saddened expression, "No, but he's intent on destroying anyone close to you since he can't get to you. You kept Octavia safe, but I think you inadvertently exposed Molly, and he found out about your past with her."
Finding Molly was unexpected, and the joy of it overwhelmed my senses. She was the only woman in my heart then, and if only that night had not happened, she would not have been as broken as she was.
Although we would never be a couple again, I vowed to protect her with my life. Don Black lived up to his name, full of darkness and the root of most of my problems. Because of him, I would forever be a beast to any woman I try to have intimacy with.
Only Eleanor’s special girls could handle it, so I compensated them generously.
"Let me see the spy," I requested.
"He's already dead," Zak replied, displaying the head of the spy he had butchered. I couldn't fault him as I hadn't instructed him to wait for me.
"Good. Dispose off the body and clean up the torture and butcher rooms. Have they been reported missing already?" I inquired.
"Yes, Hank took care of that," Zak confirmed.
"I'm considering infiltrating Don Black's men with our spy. What do you think?" Hank proposed, prompting me to contemplate the risks.
While I could be ruthless towards my enemies, I never wanted an innocent person to suffer.
"What if they are discovered? It would mean certain death," I cautioned.
Hank puffed on a cigar and tossed one to me, which was just what I needed after the information he shared.
"What if I told you Wesley is asking for his help to reach Molly?"
