                    Nicole’s POV
“No one touches Molly and gets away with it, do you understand? She is under my protection,” he growled, his fingers tightening around my neck, depriving me of air.
Pain pierced my heart as our eyes locked. So, all of this was just for Molly. Who was she anyway?
“What will you tell Mom if I die in your hands?” I managed to choke out, Gio’s expression darkening.
I knew his mother held great influence over him due to the love he had for her after losing his father and other family members on that tragic day.
Gio had promised to ensure that his mother never missed his dad and had kept that promise until now. Was he going to break it because of that woman?
“Don’t forget that I’m the only one who can help you with Don Black,” I reminded him, feeling his grip around my neck loosen slightly. But in the next moment, he threw me harshly against the wall, the impact feeling like my bones were being crushed.
His office was in disarray as he started to approach me, his movements reminiscent of the boogeyman from old tales.
Gio was treating me like a criminal because of Molly, and if I survived this, I would make sure to inform his mother about it.
She raised me, so I call her Mom.
“Does Mom know about Molly?” I asked him between coughs as I struggled to my feet, taking deep breaths to steady myself. His intense gaze filled me with fear, and I instinctively tried to defend myself by launching a kick at him.
However, he effortlessly blocked my attack with his arm and swiftly overpowered me, pining my leg to the floor, and leaving me completely helpless.
Gio's formidable strength made it clear that I stood no chance against him, regardless of my training.
"Please, let me go. Don't you care about Don Black? Do you want to put Molly in danger?" I pleaded, knowing how much Gio loathed Don Black and how he cared for Molly. I had to use their importance to him as leverage, but Gio's focus had shifted elsewhere.
"If you breathe a word about Molly to my mother, it will be the last thing you do," Gio warned, emphasizing the threat to Molly rather than Don Black, revealing his true priorities.
A warm tear rolled down my cheek as fear gripped me. "What does she mean to you?" I demanded, desperate for answers.
"She means nothing to me, but I made a promise to protect her," Gio replied, his words sounding sincere yet leaving me with a sense that there was more to the story.
He was likely withholding the truth to prevent me from informing our mother and putting Molly in danger.
"You can confide in me, or I will tell our mother. Even if you eliminate me, she can still harm her," I challenged, trying to extract the truth from him.
A chuckle escaped Gio as he lifted me off the floor and pressed me against the wall, his piercing gaze sending shivers down my spine. Clad in white, he embodied his nickname, the "Devil in White," with his menacing presence, though his words seemed to contradict his intimidating demeanor.
Throughout, I believed he was unaware, but it turned out he was fully aware. Not only that, he also knew how to shatter my heart.
"Nicole, you are not my type of woman and never will be."
It felt like a sudden shock as his words hit me. I couldn't help but wonder if tough guys preferred the damsel in distress type of women.
"You prefer the vulnerable ones like Molly." Despite my efforts to hold back the pain, it seeped through my words. However, all he did was smile, further breaking me as he shook his head.
"No, you don't have what it takes to satisfy me sexually. Consider this your final warning. Stay away from Molly."
So, it all boiled down to his sexual preferences. Octavia had kept mum about the details, but it was evident that no woman could truly satisfy him. I struggled to comprehend how those women at the club managed to do it.
Gio couldn't slaughter me because mom had sent me here, but he was attempting to shield the bitch.
"I was taught to love you, but it's fine that you chose Octavia. You're not faithful to her, so I considered being your mistress. However, now there's Molly."
He distanced himself and reached for another cigar. Soon, the office was engulfed in smoke, giving me a moment to gather my composure.
He flicked the lighter away and responded with a steely gaze. Molly is not my mistress," I felt relieved by those words, but a worse one soon followed. "She's too good for me."
His words pierced my heart, and I yelled, "I will kill her."
Through the smoke, I didn't realize when Gio reached me. My head hit the ground with force as pressure suffocated my windpipe.
"Why don't I kill you first?" His voice was hoarse as he spoke from the corner of his mouth, cigar in the other side.
There was no hope for me as Gio refused to show mercy. Perhaps Molly was the one meant to die because the door pushed open, and she stood there, a mix of shock and fear in her eyes.
I smiled and pressed my hand around Gio's neck with the little strength I had, planting a kiss on his lips. This was my first kiss, and the pain in Molly's eyes was worth it.
