Nicole’s POV
I anticipated Gio would opt for the women, not out of desire but necessity.
However, his response caught me off guard. "I'll take the drinks, but if you try any tricks, you'll lose everything you hold dear," he warned, making Santiago nod anxiously.
"Don Black is a man of his word."
Gio was the only person in white, a contract to his intimidating presence.
Though I didn't want him to choose the women, I detested the idea of him drinking excessively.
The disappointed expressions on the women's faces brought me some satisfaction anyway and I gave them the middle finger.
I decided to time him as he opened the first bottle of vodka. It was well sealed, showing the impossibility of it being drugged.
One minute was all it took for the bottle to be empty but I feared the lasting effect it might have on Gio.
In less than four minutes, he had emptied four bottles of vodka, the most he had ever consumed in one sitting, and he appeared intoxicated.
“Gio, we should go home,” I implored, afraid of his condition being used against him but he was adamant.
"I finished it in under four minutes," he mumbled, glancing at his watch. "When do I meet him?"
It seemed to me that Santiago wasn’t expecting him to choose the alcohol option but we still wondered what else he had in store for Gio.
“Ehmm…ehmmm," he stammered, but fury blazed in Gio’s eyes, he punched the middle-aged man in the stomach.
Coughing from pain, he bent over a little and that was gave Gio enough time to grab him by the neck, smashing his face against the table.
I should be happy but all I felt was fear, just like everyone present. How was it possible that even when drunk, Gio's senses were still intact?
After everything, I might just beg him to share his secret. The bodyguards inched closer, but this was my time to prove my usefulness as I rose to my feet.
"If you come any closer, this could turn into a bloodbath," I warned them.
The people in the restaurant, whether guests or Santiago’s men, began to leave in pairs.
"Please, I just got the confirmation,” Santiago announced, his face red and swollen.
“Don Black will send the date, time, and location, but only if you come with Molly," he explained. I saw Gio's expression darken as if he wanted to explode. "What?"
Giovanni’s POV
Upon receiving a text message that Hank was at my house with Molly, I felt uneasy and was eager to leave.
Hank was my best friend, and while I trusted him, I sensed that he was hiding something about Molly. Until he revealed the truth, I couldn't fully trust him with her.
This uncertainty led me to quickly consume vodka, despite knowing its negative effects on me.
Don Black's actions had devastated me, and I was tempted to retaliate by causing chaos. However, I realized that wouldn't solve anything, so I needed to remain composed.
I found it difficult to trust anyone, even Nicole, but I was taken aback when Molly's name was mentioned.
"Who is Molly?" I inquired, seeking more information.
It turned out that Don Black was aware of Molly's presence with me and simply wanted us to appear together at the same location a month later.
“Don Black knows that Molly is under your protection and wants you to come with her to this same venue, exactly one month from now.”
I was about to refuse as Santiago continued to say. “He has no intention of taking her away. He just wants to see her.”
I regretted wanting to bring Molly along before, but I was glad she refused to accompany me.
“Never. That will never happen,” I refused, and he nodded. “Then good luck in your search for Don Black.”
Anger surged through me as I weighted my options. I promised to protect Molly and not put her in danger. However, I also needed to destroy the bastard.
Now that he knows I have Molly, he might try other means to get her if I refuse.
But if I agree, she will be safe until I figure out how to get out of this situation.
‘Molly, I failed you before, but not again. I will protect you with the last drop of my blood,’ I vowed.
“Alright, I will bring Molly, and he will tell me the reason why he wants her," I stated firmly.
Santiago smiled. "Don Black is pleased." He was bout leaving but I considered negotiating.
"Let him know that since he has bodyguards around, I will bring mine to our next meeting," I added, Santiago stared strangely at me.
"He never stopped you," he shrugged as he massaged his reddened temple. I was only gentle with him because of his age; otherwise, he would have been dead by now.
However, the information he shared caught my attention, and I glared at Nicole.
"Did you hear that?" I questioned, noticing an awkward smile on her face, wondering what other lie she was going to come up with.
"I misread the rules," she mumbled, looking anywhere else but me. I didn’t trust her but now, I was beginning to hate her.
To say that I was disappointed would be an understatement. As I stood up, I staggered a little, feeling dizzy and hot all over.
"You drugged me," I accused, pointing out the obvious. Santiago smiled but created a good distance between us, before making a revelation.
