Giovanni’s POV
“We know you too well, Don Dawson, so please don’t misunderstand. We have to prioritize our safety. Boys, let’s go,” he said to the bodyguards around.
If I remember correctly, the bottles were sealed. I opened them myself, so if this was right, then they must have been drugged from the factory. So much for not booking an appointment when they seemed so prepared for me.
Well, I couldn't let them have their way. Removing my portable revolver, I fired four shots, targeting the legs of four bodyguards.
“Don Dawson,” Santiago said with fear in his eyes as his bodyguards fell to the ground, groaning in pain.
“Well, that’s for not telling me the drinks were drugged. Four bullets for the four bottles. I would have still drunk it even if you warned me, but what you did is unforgivable.”
I believe in honesty, and coming clean would not have caused this mess. “How is it that you are still in your right mind after drinking all that?” He asked, and I glared at him.
“A bullet to your head for the answer.” I pointed the gun in his direction, determined to reach my target despite the distance. “Do you still demand an answer?” I asked him, and he made the right choice.
“Just forget about it.” In less than a minute, the restaurant was empty, even those I thought were guests. Was I that intimidating?
Being called the Devil in white for protecting those under my jurisdiction was preferable to being seen as a coward.
"I'll drive," Nicole offered when we reached the car, and I accepted her help, but I called Zak to meet us halfway as I couldn't fully trust her, especially while under the influence of an aphrodisiac.
Even if I were to be with any woman, it would never be Nicole. I was determined to resist her advances because I didn't want anything to come between Molly and me.
I wanted to make things right with Molly by returning everything Wesley had stolen and more.
Despite feeling hardened and uncomfortable, I resisted the urge to undress until Zak arrived halfway.
He left his car for another bodyguard and approached mine. "Nicole, I'll drive."
"It's okay," Nicole responded as Zak looked at me, awaiting my decision.
"Nicole, sit in the back," I instructed. She was displeased, but at least I could finally remove my blazer. Upon arriving home, I nearly lost my balance as I stepped out of the car. Nicole steadied me, while Zak parked the car.
I had forgotten that I wasn't supposed to bring her here until I saw Molly and Hank.
They appeared to be engrossed in a conversation, but when Molly noticed me, she hurried over.
"Gianni, are you okay?" she asked, showing concern. I appreciated her care, but I was taken aback by Nicole's attitude.
"I've got this, Molly. Just step back and show me to his room," Nicole interjected, displaying a hint of hostility.
I was worried that Molly might comply, so I chose not to interfere, wanting to test Molly's true intentions.
Knowing that she was only with me because of the promised assistance was disheartening, and I hoped for more from her.
Molly, however, stood her ground. "No, I'll take him to his room," she countered, which pleased me as I had expected her to be upset with me.
Before Nicole could say another word, I decided to intervene and dismiss her.
"Nicole, go home," I instructed firmly.
Just as Nicole was about to protest, Hank intervened, taking her by the arm. "Let's go. I'll drive you home," he said, effectively diffusing the situation after casting another glance at Molly.
Despite Nicole's resistance, I knew she wouldn't be able to overpower Hank in a confrontation.
"I don't have a home yet," Nicole pleaded, turning to me with a hopeful expression.
"Don't worry, I'll arrange for an apartment for you," Hank assured her, and I inwardly smiled as Molly assisted me up the stairs.
Upon reaching my room, I expected Molly to leave, but she surprised me by helping me remove my shoes. I felt a sudden urge and rushed to the toilet, emptying my stomach. I had suspected this might happen and had taken some pills, but the dosage was too high, causing irritation in my stomach. Molly, sounding concerned, asked if I was alright. I reassured her that I was fine.
She offered to get me soup and hurried out of the room before I could stop her.
After I finished, I took a cold shower, unsure of how long I stayed in there. I brushed my teeth to get rid of the acidic taste in my mouth.
Molly informed me that the soup was on the coffee table as I stepped out of the shower. She was about to leave the room, and I noticed her red face, wondering what was bothering her.
"You seem like you're in a hurry," I remarked.
Her face turned even redder, and I realized I was only half dressed, wondering if she still felt any attraction towards me.
“I have to shower," she said seriously, already at the door. I sensed she was avoiding me, so I decided to make it difficult for her.
"Then take the soup with you if you won't help me with it." I noticed her freeze in front of the door. Was it genuine concern for me or just because of the help I had promised her?
