                    Molly’s POV
This was the longest peaceful chat I had with Gianni since our paths crossed again.
Everything was going well until the last part, but I knew he was joking about wanting me to sleep in his room.
“Stop being silly,” I replied, matching his teasing energy. Just as I caught sight of something, he covered himself with the duvet and yelled, “Get out, Molly.”
I could swear I saw pain in his eyes. His erection seemed abnormal, and I wondered why he wasn’t with his wife.
As a divorcee of a cheating ex-husband, I knew how lonely nights could be, especially when your body craved intimacy.
I’ve been there, and it wasn’t a pleasant experience, but maybe it wasn’t my business. I left with the empty soup bowl, and after my shower, I barely caught some sleep when I heard Roger screaming and quickly rushed to his room.
I still can’t understand why he feels comfortable around his pets when he has periodic nightmares.
Roger was drenched in sweat when I lifted him in my arms and comforted him. “It’s alright. I’m here.”
He opened his eyes blurry, and the moment he saw me, fear registered in his eyes, soon changing to disdain.
“What do you want here, Molly?” His attempt to put up a tough front was really cute, though.
“I heard you screaming,” I was saying when Gianni barged in, only in his boxers, and his hair damp. Clearly, he had come out of the shower prematurely due to Roger’s screams.
“Wait, did you shower again?” I touched his body, and it was cold to the touch. Wondering why he had a cold shower again, I remembered the erection I saw. Then the image of him lying on top of Nicole at the office.
If he desired a woman who wasn’t his wife, why didn’t he take advantage of Nicole when they went out together?
I despised cheating men, but I had no idea what was going on in his relationship with his wife. “Roger, what happened?" he asked, his concern evident. His love for his son was unwavering, and despite being a flawed husband, he was a devoted father, which was a redeeming quality.
"Dad, thank God you're here. Molly, you can go to your room," Roger said dismissively. I couldn't help but admire Gianni comforting him, or maybe it was just his chiseled abs that caught my attention again.
He had a way of looking like a sexy daddy effortlessly.
"Molly was here earlier to comfort you, and she smells good," Gianni winked at me. Roger shot me a glare before refocusing on his father, completely ignoring my presence.
"Dad, can you stay the night with me?" Roger's request surprised me, revealing a more vulnerable side to him compared to his earlier tough facade.
"I never expected a big boy like you to be scared," Gianni kissed his son's hair and tucked him into the large bed. Roger glanced at me, his gaze shy and uncertain.
"Nah, I'm not scared anymore," Roger declared, trying to maintain his bravado.
Gianni seemed to playfully tease him about his fear as he got up to leave the room. I couldn't help but blush at how attractive he looked in just his boxers. Why did he have to walk around like that?
The sight of his boxers reminded me of my own attire—a transparent lingerie with a silky coat over it. I quickly averted my gaze, feeling self-conscious.
"Alright then, I'll head to my room," Gianni announced, but Roger interrupted.
"Wait." A mischievous smile danced on Gianni's lips.
Roger hesitated before finally admitting his fear, albeit indirectly, by inviting us to spend the night in his room.
“Can you spend the night here? And Molly too.”
The idea felt comforting, making me feel like I belonged here, but I couldn't bring myself to stay with the pets. "No way am I spending the night with those animals."
Roger looked disappointed as he peeked out from under the duvet. "Come on, Molly, they're caged and won't harm you."
I glanced around and noticed that the creatures were engrossed in their own world, securely locked in their cages.
Gianni's eyes remained fixed on me, almost pleading for my approval, so I turned to Roger and asked, "Does this earn me some points with you?" I hadn’t forgotten my one-month deal with him.
A frown creased his adorable face as his fingers clenched together. "Fine, I'll try to be nicer, but don't expect me to be too friendly."
Gianni seemed ready to reprimand him, his eyes flashing with anger, “Roger,” but I intervened. It was enough that Roger wanted me there, so I settled into his duvet with Gianni on the other side.
"Let's get some sleep," I suggested, wrapping my arms around Roger on one side while Gianni did the same on the other, and then I switched off the bedside lamp.
For the first time, it felt like a real family, but our rest was interrupted by the sound of Roger's alarm clock. How fast time moves. It was already morning.
"I can shower on my own," Roger insisted, looking more excited than I ever saw him.
Did it mean that he missed having his parents around like normal kids? I brushed the thought aside but as I tried to move my leg, a sharp pain shot through my body.
"Ouch!" I exclaimed, seeing genuine concern in Roger's eyes for the first time.
"What's wrong, Molly? My pets are all caged," he asked with a hint of care, but his gaze quickly turned mocking.
