Molly’s POV
Gio looked at me with an indescribable look, and remained silent. Then I knew.
Many emotions surged into my heart and I couldn’t tell what they were. Hurt? Angery? Sad?
So he had a kid with another woman after abandoning me years ago, and now he offered me to be the nanny of this kid? Was the world joking with me?
But I had no place to feel sad. Whether he had a son with another woman has nothing to do with me, and I wouldn't care.
I was not here to rekindle anything between us. I was merely using his help to take back what belonged to me and get revenge on Wesley and my evil sister.
“Is his mother around? Does she know the relationship between us?” I asked. Not out of jealousy. Just needed to know what situation I put myself into and got prepared.
A trace of emotion flashed across his face but disappeared instantly. “No, he only has me.”
Well, another poor girl abandoned by him.
“Okay. What is his name?” I asked, switching the topic.
“Roger Dawson. And he’s four.” Gio’s face relaxed, a fatherly pride flickered across it. Looking at his face, a mixed feeling surged. If I had a kid myself, I would be proud to talk about them too. However, I couldn’t tell if it was a bad thing or not that I didn't have one. I couldn’t picture the cunning Wesley to be my baby’s father.
"I'll agree on one condition."
"Tell me," he replied quickly, turning to settle back in the recliner, eliciting a sigh of relief from me.
"After this is all over, I simply want to live alone on an island free from the drama of men in my life," I declared. Before he could respond, I added a stipulation.
"You must not interfere in my personal life once I've regained everything. I will choose where I want to reside thereafter."
A flicker of emotion passed through his eyes, but he nodded, speaking with a calm authority. "A fair agreement."
Having reached a mutual understanding about my role in gaining his assistance to reclaim what I had lost, I took a seat on the sofa, facing him in the recliner.
Having little experience with toddlers, as Wesley's siblings were teenagers, I knew I had to give it my best shot. After all, Gianni was my key to reclaiming what Wesley had taken from me.
"If you can help me regain control of the company as promised, your son will be happy," I assured Giovanni. About to say something, he was interrupted by a phone call, glancing at the caller ID.
"We'll continue this later, but think carefully. I won't assist a married woman," Gianni stated firmly before excusing himself to take the call.
"You promised to help me without any conditions, so why are you insisting on me signing those papers?" I called from behind.
“If you want me to help you, you need to trust me and follow my rules completely.” Gio said from across the room. I snorted. It wasn’t like I didn’t want to sign the paper. I just wanted to be cautious. But I guess if Gio was correct about Wesley’s cunning moves, there was no need to wait anymore.
"I'll arrange for someone to take you shopping, and I'll meet you later to take you home,"
Before I could protest, he disappeared into the closet before I could speak. When he emerged, he was dressed in an all-white suit, looking tempting.
I always associated white outfits with weddings, but Giovanni wore it with a unique flair.
He made the off-white three-piece suit look like a sophisticated everyday attire with a touch of elegance.
Despite his stylish appearance, there was a hint of aloofness and sophistication that surrounded him.
I considered complimenting him, but decided against it.
As soon as he left, a familiar face entered the room. Seeing Nora, a sense of warmth filled me, hoping she might provide the answers I sought, like how and why Gio found me last night, and who his baby mama was. But she didn’t seem comfortable talking about anything related to Gio as I asked her.
"I don't know much about his personal life, just rumors about a woman and a son. We need to leave now. Don gave us only two hours," she said hurriedly, leaving my mind struggling to keep up.
Being a housewife had shifted my perspective on many things, so re-entering the world made me nervous. Thanks to Wesley, I was determined not to give up, but hearing her mention ‘Don’ piqued my interest.
"Don? What do you mean? Is he some kind of mafia boss?"
