Kiara’s POV
“No, Roger is very intelligent. He has already skipped two classes and is my senior, but he never had a mother until now."
The revelation seemed to upset Roger. "Leave me alone," he yelled. Molly comforted him, saying, "Don't use that language, and you don't have to be upset. I'm here for you."
It appeared to me that the boy wasn't actually hers as she claimed. When Roger glared at Wade, I feared he might harm him. However, he recognized another child, who was much older, and the two were playing hide and seek.
"So, Molly, how did you get involved with someone like Don Gio? It seems to me that he is out of your league since you are not the mother of his child. You do realize he's not in your class, right?"
She stared at me mockingly. "How is it my fault that he wants me by his side all the time? Don't tell me you're already tired of Wesley. Oh, and by the way, you should advise him to start working out or he might end up with a round, potbellied stomach."
Rage surged within me. Even after everything, she still believed she was superior to me. The truth was that Wesley hadn't been taking care of himself lately, and his stomach was slightly protruding, but not as exaggerated as Molly made it seem.
Was it because she hooked up with someone as attractive as Don Gio? "You're just a promiscuous woman, jumping from one man to another. You'll never be a star in your own right. It's been a while since I released an album, but at least they're still selling, thanks to you, and I'm still making money," I taunted.
All the songs that brought me fame were hers, making it easy to set her up and turn the world against her.
"Kiara, stay away from me, or I might kill you and enjoy it. I think even Mom and Dad would be happy to have you join them," Molly threatened. I felt a sense of satisfaction in provoking her anger.
However, I was still seething with anger when I recalled how Don Gio had made Wesley's family bow down to her. I attempted to slap her, but she caught my hand and retaliated with a hard slap to my face.
My face stung from the pain, and I stumbled back from the force as she spoke mockingly, "Wesley isn't here to save you. You might end up dead, leaving your son to be raised by a stepmother."
She slapped me again, harder than before, and I felt as if I was seeing stars. My eyes met my son's, and I felt ashamed that he had to witness this. Despite the pain, I taunted her.
“Molly, you're still in love with Wesley. Otherwise, you wouldn't be so upset with me when you have a man like Don Gio. Unless he's not yours, whose kid is that?” I challenged.
She raised her arm again, but I quickly stepped back, realizing we had attracted a small crowd, including children.
“He called me mom, so what do you think?” Molly retorted proudly, leaving me confused and unable to process her words.
“Molly, you don't deserve anything good,” I shouted. She slapped me once more, causing me to fall to the ground. She knelt down, smiling wickedly, and pulled my hair, grinding my face into the ground as she cursed.
“Kiara, if you think Wesley is a good thing, then you're just as crazy as him. I want no part in your madness. As for the things you and he stole from me, I will reclaim every last one, even if you walk around naked,” Molly threatened, smashing my head into the grass before standing up and glaring at me.
As I tried to get up, she pressed her foot against my stomach, but Wade intervened. “Let my mother go,” he demanded, trying to pry Molly's foot away from me as tears welled up in my eyes.
Meanwhile, Roger was shouting, “Mom, you're so cool,” before suddenly changing his tone.
“Mom, those are bad guys!” He ran into the crowd, with Molly chasing after him in her stilettos, which she quickly discarded to run barefoot.
I realized the men were Wesley's associates, and a sense of relief washed over me, knowing that help had arrived.
“Where's Molly?” Wesley inquired as he approached. I was slightly irritated that he had started calling me Kiara instead of Kitty.
“Help me up first,” I requested, extending my hand to him. However, he walked past me, giving instructions to the new bodyguards he had hired.
They were quite expensive and had to be tougher than the previous ones.
"Get her. Make sure she doesn’t escape," he instructed. However, Molly’s bodyguard was already headed our way.
Gosh, he was so strong in fighting off the new bodyguards, but an idea crossed my mind. What if I stole the boy? I could use him to get close to Don Gio.
I ran in the direction Molly went with Roger and searched but couldn’t find them.
"Mom, you look terrible. Why didn’t you beat her?" Wade asked with disappointment. But how could he have known that the only time I had an upper hand was the day Molly left Wesley?
I had the chance to slap her, but Wesley stopped me from retaliating. "Come on, help me find them."
"Daddy’s men are down," he observed. I was saddened that if we didn’t find Molly early, this bodyguard might hurt all of us.
However, the search continued for close to an hour, and yet, Molly still was not found. When I saw Don Gio arrive, the only thing I knew to do was escape, and that was exactly what I did.
My greatest disappointment when I reached home was to see Wesley there. The bastard left me and his kid at the pack and hid here like a scared cat.
"I regret meeting you, you asshole.”
