Giovanni’s POV
I received a message from Dwayne, my trusted hacker, and texted him to meet me in the office after leaving Molly’s office. While doing so, I also dialed Hank’s number.
“You were right. I think I have a suspect,” I said. I was tempted to inquire about his connection to Molly, but decided to save the question for our meeting in the office.
Upon hearing that I had a lead on who Don Black was, Hank hurried to my office without me having to ask.
“Are you a ghost? How did you get here so quickly?” I asked, to which he sighed. “I heard about what you did to your mother’s men and came to offer my support, just in case she sends more goons.”
“I see.” A knock on the door signaled Dwayne’s arrival. “Come in, Dwayne.”
My hacker seemed nervous in the presence of Hank, but I reassured him. “It’s okay. Tell us what you found.”
“There wasn’t much about his personal life, so I hacked into his personal archive to access the data on his phones and computer. This is what I discovered.”
He opened the laptop, and what I saw made my heart skip a beat. The psycho had Molly’s pictures from her teenage years scattered all over his laptop and phone, each accompanied by disturbing notes.
‘You looked beautiful when you went to the park today.’
‘I saw you with a guy, and I wasn’t happy about it.’
‘You look beautiful, yet you refused to dance with me.’
‘You suddenly disappeared, and I can’t trace you.’
There were hundreds of messages on Molly’s old photos, and I noticed some recent ones, including the one from the club where I rescued her.
‘I’m sorry I arrived late. Gio got to you before me, but I will retrieve you from him.’
There was another picture of the incident at the boutique with her. ‘I was so close, yet you slipped from my grasp again.’
The more I read it, the greater my fears grew. It wasn’t like he wanted to make Molly his maid; he wanted to possess her.
“I want to know his location,” I said as the hacker tried his best and shook his head. “It keeps changing, indicating he’s trying to hide it.”
“At least we know what Don Black looks like,” I consoled myself. Hank asked, “How do you know it’s him?”
“He was Molly’s classmate in high school and persistently tried to hit on her. He gave her a warning that she would beg to be his maid.”
Hank’s expression turned mysterious again, so I dismissed Dwayne with a warning. “Keep trying to find his hideout and inform me as soon as you locate it.”
“Yes, Don,” he replied as I cautioned further. “Keep this information private, or you'll never see your family again.”
With fear in his eyes, he hurried out of my office with his tools, and I made a joke.
“So, how are you, Smile?”
The confusion on Hank’s face was evident as he asked me, “What did you just call me?”
“Smile.” He blinked as I walked over to my chair. “Sit down and smile.” I noticed how he suddenly sighed with relief.
“Tell me, what is your issue with Molly,” I asked directly. He forced a smile, masking his confusion.
“Gio, what are you talking about?”
“Did you forget a girl who nicknamed you Smile?”
His gaze locked on me. “You know her? Please tell me. Where is she?” The eagerness in his tone made me realize he had no idea who that girl was.
“Are you sure you don’t know her?” My expression turned serious this time. His teeth gritted as he confessed.
“Honestly, I thought it was Molly but she doesn’t look like she knows me. That girl was called Molly, but since I left that neighborhood, I never saw her again. Every time you mentioned Molly, it reminded me of her. The last time, I wanted to ask her, but I never got the chance."
"You should have told me," I said seriously. He looked apologetic. "I'm sorry. I thought you'd think I was insane to keep thinking about something like that."
I shook my head and explained, "When I asked her to tell me about all the people who made an impression on her, she described your eyes, but I didn't tell her it was you."
He smiled with longing. "Do you mind if I talk to her?"
"Sure, but I hope you don't harbor any feelings for her."
My question caused his expression to turn painful. "That would depend on you. Do you want her back?"
The sound of my phone disrupted everything, and seeing Jace's ID, I knew it concerned Molly.
"Don, I'm so sorry. Molly and Roger begged me to take them to the pack."
"Tell me you didn't." My teeth gritted as I responded, ready to leave the office.
"I did because it was the first time I saw her getting along with Roger, but then they ran into her sister, Kiara. I saw Molly beating her, but then Santiago's men arrived, and I fought them. During that time, I lost track of Molly and Roger. Their bags are in the car, so they don't have their phones with them," he concluded, I was furious.
“I'm going to kill you if anything happens to them, Jace," I hissed before ending the call, Hank shared my concern. "Should I come along?"
"No, keep an eye on Dwayne. I'll update you on the progress."
I left without waiting concluding what he brought up. Upon reaching the park, I spotted Jace's car in the parking lot before entering.
The park was closing, but I managed to gain entry. It wasn't difficult to find Jace, and I didn't hesitate to punch him in the face.
"I trusted you."
Remorse filled his eyes as he handed me a video. "It was Molly and Roger." Hearing Roger call Molly mom stirred something inside me, and I couldn't stay mad at Jace. I wondered how Molly and Roger had bonded so quickly.
Despite our search efforts, we found no trace of them. I took a moment to rest against a tree before continuing the search.
The park was vast, and with enemies lurking, I could only trust Jace to assist me in finding them.
"Don, I think I found something," Jace said as he approached me. "It's Molly's shoes."
Following his gaze, I saw Molly's shoes. As I reached to pick them up, I was met with a beautiful sight.
