Nicole’s POV
For the entire three weeks I was away, Gio never bothered to check on me after what he did because of Molly.
Mom took charge of the situation and sent his bodyguards to bring Molly the moment Gio sent the pictures to him.
When I woke up after the tongue surgery, Mom was by my bedside, but I couldn't speak due to the anesthesia, which made my tongue feel heavy.
I wondered how my tongue had returned - was it artificial or pieced back together? I gestured for Mom to give me a pen and paper, which she did.
"My child, I can't believe he did this to you. Molly, or whatever her name is, must pay." Her expression at the mention of Molly turned cold but I smiled at her words and wrote on the paper, "Did you send someone to take care of her?"
Sorrow clouded her face as she confessed, "He killed them all."
This had gone too far. Molly had insinuated herself into Gio's life, leading him to eliminate his own family's bodyguards because of her.
"I'm so sorry. They died because of me. Have you talked to him?"
Despite their frequent disagreements, she was still his mother, with the power to influence many things and people, including her own son.
"Don't worry. Molly will pay for this. She doesn't deserve to live. I'll send someone to take care of it."
Whoever accomplished this task would be rewarded, and since it involved removing Molly from Gio's life, I couldn't entrust it to anyone else.
"Please allow me time to recover. I will handle it."
She squeezed my hand and smiled. A few days later, I was discharged, and mom took me in until I regained my ability to speak, albeit not perfectly.
At times, I felt like I sounded like a toddler, but it was an improvement over being completely unable to speak.
Arriving at the office earlier than usual to set my plans in motion, mom’s words continued to resonate in my mind.
"Please don't put yourself in danger. Once it's done, I want you to leave immediately."
It pained me to be away from Gio, but as long as Molly was out of his life, I didn't mind. When I reached the office, Agatha was already there, so I asked her to leave.
I could smell Gio's cologne before he even entered my office, and to my surprise, he was accompanied by Molly, who also smelled the same.
"Look who's back. I must admit, I underestimated you," Gio said coldly, showing no remorse for his actions towards me because of her. I had returned with a clear purpose in mind, and that was to deal with Molly.
"Good morning, Don," I replied with a forced smile, eager to have a private conversation with Molly. However, Gio made it clear that he had no intention of involving me in his affairs.
"Even though you're here, I won't involve you in anything. Agatha is doing a good job and will continue. You can stay at the office entrance and pass information to mom, I don't care. Just stay out of my business," Gio stated firmly.
His words destroyed my already broken heart and coupled with his cold behavior towards me, it was all because of Molly.
After what he had done to me, I knew he wouldn't hesitate to harm me for her sake.
Molly remained in Gio's office for over thirty minutes, during which time his door remained locked, a rare occurrence.
Neither Jace nor Zak were allowed entry when they knocked. An important meeting awaited their joint attendance.
Observing Molly's flushed face, I couldn't help but suspect they were having an affair.
The morning meeting didn't go in my favor, but fortunately, Molly excused herself. Seizing the opportunity, I made up an excuse and left as well.
Gio was engrossed in explaining things to the managers and directors, so I managed to catch up with Molly in the restroom.
"No matter how he treats you, you'd be no different from his other women," I remarked, expecting her to be upset. However, she responded with a serene smile, as if my words held no weight.
"You know nothing about me, so why should I care about what you say?" she retorted.
As she dried her hands under the dryer and prepared to leave, I blocked her path by locking the restroom door. "Today is the day I put an end to you, Molly."
Confusion clouded her expression, but I couldn't help but smile as she questioned, "What are you talking about?"
I remembered the bodyguards who were my good friends and loyal to mom, and my anger increased as I called her on the phone.
"I have her in the restroom and should be out of the building in ten minutes," I informed her.
"Good, I will send backup," she responded curtly. I glared at Molly and replied, "Two of us cannot work here. One of us must go. So, who should it be?"
Her confused expression remained, indicating her lack of understanding of our world.
"You want to kill me? Why?" Molly asked, puzzled by my statement.
My accent sounded strange to me, and I wondered if she noticed it. "He did this to me because of you and killed his family's bodyguards because of you. Goodbye, Molly."
Taking down someone as frail as her should not have taken more than thirty seconds, but as I lunged at her, she swiftly dodged, causing me to crash into the wall face-first.
"I hope that didn't hurt," she said, feigning concern, though I knew it was sarcasm. Anger boiled within me as I balled my fist and attempted to punch her, but she evaded it effortlessly, unbuttoning her blazer in the process.
Had she been pretending to be weak all along, or had Gio trained her? I quickly landed a kick to her stomach, but her knee met my jaw, causing me to bite into my tongue.
The pain was excruciating, due to the surgery from before but this time, she retaliated with a punch that I couldn't dodge due to my bleeding tongue. Her blow was forceful enough to send my face crashing into the washbasin.
"Damn you. Who trained you?" I spat out, fueled by a mix of hatred and anger towards her.
