                    Nicole’s POV
With the gun still pressed against Molly’s head, I had the upper hand, but mom's orders were clear: do not let Gio know that you did it.
The thought of her orders sent a shiver down my spine as I searched for any exits, finding none. I dialed her number on the phone. “Please tell your men to retreat. Gio is at the door.”
Molly had a shocked look in her eyes, and I knew she didn’t believe I would do it before, but just as I wanted to do it and face whatever punishment Gio would give me, I heard his voice again.
“Nicole, open this door or I will break it down, by the time I count to three.” I realized Molly’s back was against the door, so the push would hurt her.
I smirked, about to urge him so the blame of Molly being hurt would rest on him, but she spoke up. “Gianni, please don’t.”
My teeth gritted together when I heard Gianni’s voice soften because of her. “Molly, tell me what’s going on.”
She gazed at me, and I lowered the gun before whispering in her ear, “This isn’t over, but if you try anything silly, I will finish what I started.”
Perhaps I could pretend like we were having a nice chat and complete the assignment another day.
Even if I had to trick Jace to get away from her door and do it before he returns, I would do it anyway. But before I knew it, she kicked the gun from my hand.
Gosh, who turned the fragile bitch into a wild one? The gun fell from my hand, and I knew how long it would take to win a fight against her. I tried to pick up the gun, but she pounced on me before my hand reached it.
“Gianni, now,” she yelled as she tried to pin me on the floor. I was tougher than her, so I kicked her stomach after she was able to land a few punches to my face. I rolled to my side, picked up the gun, and lunged to my feet. But as I pointed the gun, I was met with Gio.
The bitch had escaped, and I hated Gio so much for training her so well.
“I thought you had changed, Nicole,” Jace had arrived as well and stood in front of Gianni, but the latter pushed him away.
“You want to kill Molly? Has it come to that?" Gio asked with disappointment in his eyes, but I knew I had to get rid of her.
"You have to come with me," Jace said to Molly, but she refused, and that made me happy. Despite everything, I knew Molly was soft. With her here, Gio would not be able to act as barbarically as he did the last time and cut my tongue.
"Molly, please follow him," he said softly. I feared she was going to oblige, but she refused, much to my joy.
"No, I'm staying," she said seriously. He didn't force her anymore, but I saw Jace pull out his gun from his pocket, and I stared at Gianni with pain in my eyes.
He was going to take Molly's side again, and I had to prevent him. "Gio, this is mom's order. Molly has to go."
A chuckle escaped him, his expression turned cold as he mimicked my words. "Molly has to go. Says who? Who gave you that right?" Pain resonated in his voice, and it rose an octave high, making me shiver slightly, but that didn't stop me from speaking my mind.
"She's not good for you. You killed your family bodyguards because of her, and she has to go." Gio shook his head and sighed frustratedly. "You know what, it's time for you to go."
Hearing the sound of a gunshot, it was accompanied by the searing pain that shot through my legs, sending me to my knees.
Jace had fired the shot because of Gio's words, and my left leg bled. He had changed since Molly's arrival in his life, and I was afraid he was going to die from whatever she did to make him like this.
"Gio, I'm your family," I groaned from pain and lifted the gun, pointing it at Molly. My aim was her head, so she would never survive it.
She was the cause of everything, so if I was going to die, she would have to accompany me. Just as my finger was about to press the trigger, Jace fired another shot, causing the gun to fall from my hand, which Gianni then kicked aside.
Jace had fired the shots without missing his targets, showing no concern for the fact that we were family.
Dizziness overwhelmed me from the loss of blood, but I could still hear Gio's voice clearly in my head, amidst the pain of the gunshots and heartbreak.
Despite my love for him, he had chosen her over me. "What did I tell you after cutting your tongue?" he asked, indicating his intent to kill me, but he seemed to be forgetting the rules.
"You can't kill me. I'm family!" I yelled, but my protests were met with a scoff. "You've already chosen my mother, so it ends here," he declared, his gaze softening as he turned to Molly.
"Molly, I'm going to kill her. What do you say?" I felt a surge of nervousness, but I also remembered Molly's kindness. Surely, she wouldn't allow Gio to kill me, right? However, things took an unexpected turn from what I had anticipated.
