Nicole’s POV
Molly appeared frightened and anxious, clearly caught off guard by the situation. "I..." Her words seemed to stick in her throat as Gio reminded her of my past actions.
"Don't forget how she almost killed you," he said, picking up my gun from the floor and handing it to Molly.
I desperately tried to reach the gun before him, but I failed, watching helplessly as my blood spilled onto the floor. All I wanted was to end Molly before I died, to make it all worthwhile for my mom.
Gio placed the gun in Molly's hand, guiding her finger to the trigger. I hoped against hope that she wouldn't go through with it, but my fears were confirmed when he ordered, "Shoot her, Molly."
Molly's hands trembled, fear evident in her eyes. She hesitated, saying, "No, I can't." A wave of relief washed over me as she tried to pull her finger away, but Gio held it firmly in place.
"This is my world, Molly. There are others like Nicole out there. If you can't eliminate those who threaten your life, you may not survive when I'm not around," Gio stated gravely, sealing my fate.
Gio aimed to corrupt Molly, to make her as ruthless as himself, making it even harder for my mother to defeat her.
I shuddered, putting on a desperate display to appeal to Molly's compassion. "Gio, please, there must be another way. Molly, I deeply regret everything. I promise I will never harm you again. I would even protect you."
Gio, engrossed in the meeting, sensed that something was amiss due to our absence.
All I wanted was a chance to live, and the next time, I knew I wouldn’t miss killing her.
However, Gio kissed the top of Molly’s head and gestured towards me. “All you have to do is shoot, Molly.”
“Molly, don’t do it,” I pleaded, but a sudden darkness of anger clouded her eyes and her voice rose with it.
“You were ready to kill me. You said Mom sent you and you called her to send her backup away,” she reminded him, and Gio smiled.
“I warned you the first time, Nicole, and since you refuse to heed my warning, I will send your corpse to my mother for burial.”
I tried to get up, but all I felt was pain and dizziness. With my pool of blood on the floor, I knew exactly why.
“Gio, please, let’s talk about this. I will be on your side from now on,” I pleaded, but there was no empathy in his eyes.
“Do it, Molly, and you will be able to protect Roger at all times,” Gio added. I saw something flicker in Molly’s eyes before her finger pressed the trigger. All I saw, was darkness.
Giovanni’s POV
I almost doubted Molly’s ability to do it, until I mentioned Roger. I remembered how she had threatened to take him away from me if I ever left her again.
Molly's love for me extended to a boy who wasn't even biologically mine, but Roger would always be mine, whether biologically related or not.
I was there when he was born and was the first to hold him in my arms. We shared the same blood, and I claimed him as mine from that moment, grateful that he had my eyes.
Despite the limited physical resemblance, he grew up to be just like me, deepening my love for him.
With Molly, we were on track to have a perfect family. However, when I glanced up from the documents and noticed two empty chairs, I sensed something was amiss and immediately inquired, "Where are Molly and Nicole?"
Ever since Nicole's return, I had been vigilant about Molly, knowing Nicole's potential for causing trouble.
"They went to the restroom," Jace informed me. I sprang to my feet, no longer concerned about the meeting, and hurried to the restroom.
Fortunately, I arrived in time. When Molly chose to stay behind to observe my actions, I decided to let her. If she succeeded, I wouldn't have to wear white anymore to prove my innocence.
I no longer feel the darkness of my soul as intensely as I used to, as it was all connected to her.
However, she did it. She committed her first murder, and it brought me joy, but her hands were trembling, and the gun slipped from her grasp.
"I killed her," she whispered. I smiled and lifted her into my arms, instructing Jace to deliver Nicole’s dead body to my mother with a message. "Anyone who dares to target Molly will suffer a fate worse than Nicole's."
Placing Molly on the sofa, I handed her a glass of water, which she sipped. "I could go to jail," she trembled. I reassured her, "You won't go to jail; we will simply report her as missing, and her body will never be found."
"Gianni, you are wicked. You made me do this," she accused, looking frightened, but I knew she would overcome it.
"That makes you just like me, Molly. Would you rather be the one holding the gun or the one it's aimed at?" I waited for her to grasp the meaning of my words, and when she did, she embraced me.
"She was trying to kill me, so I had to defend myself," she rationalized. I smiled and kissed her. "In that case, let's return to the meeting."
We arrived as if nothing had happened, and I eventually turned off my phone to silence my mother's incessant calls, only answering when Hank contacted me through Jace.
"Gio, I'll keep Roger with me for a while. Your mother's bodyguards are at his school, and I suspect they are there for Molly."
