"Keep the things inside, I'll call David and check upon them."
Decha chuckled when he got a thumbs up from both of his sons, he smiled at Maya who sighed at him. Shrugging his shoulders he walked into their house at Doi Ang Khang.
Stepping into the living room he rushed towards the telephone that was propped on the mini table stand at the corner. Dialling the number he early waited for the call to get picked.
"Hello, David." A smile bloomed on the other's lips.
"We have already reached here. When can we expect you?"
"Oh, take right on the rest route. It's much easier that way. Yes, it's a metalled road too, will be a comfortable ride for you."
Decha glanced towards the door chuckled when he caught Kongpob curiously looking at him, the younger immediately turned his face away when Decha caught him staring.
"We're waiting for you all, David. Drive safe." Smiling he hung up the call. Shaking his head laughing he walked inside not wanting to tease Kongpob further.
"You're soo desperate," Nai nudged Kongpob's shoulder.
"I'm not!"
Nai raised an eyebrow, "Ok, one can hope that we believe you."
Kongpob bit the inside of his cheek, stopping himself from smiling as he playfully smacked Nai's head making the younger pout as he whined.
"Shut up and help Bpâa with arranging the things. You're all talk-talk."
Nai giggled as he watched Kongpob grumble under his breath as he walked towards Maya to help her set the things inside. He gazed outside the door as he wrapped his arms around his waist, over his sweater. It was a chilly day, the small layer of fog lingered around, sunlight passing through it.
"P'Kong!" Nai called out, an idea suddenly popped in his head.
"P'Kong! They're here!"
Nai giggled as he watched Kongpob reach the living room in a flash, a wide excited smile on his face.
"Where?!"
Nai laughed at the elder male. Clucthing his stomach as he stared at the still eager face.
"Someone is not desperate at all!"
"Nai!" Kongpob's eyes widened realising the other was playing with him. His skin turned red in anger and embarrassment as he sprinted to catch Nai who laughed harder at him while trying to escape the elder male.
"Please visit Doi Ang Khan! They don't have to know anything!"
A groaning voice made Kongpob stop on his tracks, the colour on his face drained as he stood beside the kitchen door. He watched Nai run upstairs still laughing but just hearing Maya grumble in anger made his smile vanish.
"Everyone is invited to Doi Ang Khang! Holidaying together!" Maya set all the items for cooking over the kitchen island, glaring at everything. "And here I get to do the chores!"
Kongpob gulped, a lump forming in his throat. Taking a deep breath he decided to go in to help the latter out. Maya had a point too, she isn't cooking for four like she usually does, now she has to cook for nine people. But what he doesn't understand is that she isn't alone at doing chores, he and Nai were there, even though Maya won't allow Nai to be near the stove claiming it will turn his skin darker, Kongpob was here to help her and he'll gladly do that.
"Maya, Why are you getting agitated?"
Kongpob shivered when he heard Decha's voice, he took a peek watching the elder male walk inside from the backdoor towards Maya.
Decha placed a soft kiss on his wife's cheek, smiling wide as he took the knife that the other held. Pushing her to the side he took her place, taking the vegetables in hand.
"Don't worry, I'll here help you." Decha smiled making Maya sigh as she nodded.
"You can relax, dear."
A soft smile played on Kongpob's lips as he watched the elder couple. He's happy that Decha understood the situation and handled it well.
Taking a deep breath he walked past the kitchen, walking upstairs. He heard Nai singing in high key from one of the rooms that made him chuckle as he made his way towards the balcony. Smiling as the balcony came in view, filled with plants and a small wooden bed patio at the corner. It was his favourite part in the house.
He took a deep breath, gazing out at the warm sky. The coldness of the air and warmth of the sun made him feel at ease, the happiness he was experiencing with the jitters of meeting the elder male again was a completely new turn of his feelings. He never thought he could experience something soo excited and nervous at the same time.
He walked towards the railing, he could see the road that lead to their house from where he stood and excitement took over him as he waited to spot a car making its way to the house.
"P'Kong! Are you at the balcony?"
Kongpob jolted at his brother's scream. He immediately walked away, rushing to fill the watering can from the pipe at the corner. He doesn't want Nai to find him staring out at the road, he's sure the latter would find out what's in his mind and tease him further.
"Oh! You're watering the plants? Uh-typical P!" Nai stepped into the terrace, smiling wide and high on his toes with excitement as he jogged around the terrace, continuing to sing.
Kongpob giggled at himself as he glanced at Nai, he's blessed to have a brother like Nai. Sometimes he feels guilty that Nai had to go through what he's going through with Maya because of him. He tried to apologize to the latter at times but Nai never let him do so. The younger male didn't like the sound of Kongpob apologising about something that no one has control over.
"Be careful, Nai. Don't slip." Kongpob warned the younger before making his way towards the plants.
He stood at a spot, looked out, trying to get a glimpse of the other's car while he acted as if he was there to water the plants. He couldn't hold in the jitters. He just wanted to meet the milky skinned man, the overwhelming hazel eyes as soon as possible.
"P'Kong, you know that they won't arrive out of the blue if you keep staring." Nai leaned over the railing beside Kongpob, laughing when he saw the elder's face flush red.
"Nai! Will you stop being such a tease?" Kongpob rolled his eyes.
"I'm only here to water the plants."
"Of course- Of course," Nai reached over to pinch the elder's cheek.
"Let my brother-in-law arrive I'll tell him all about your daydreams!"
The next thing Nai knew was Kongpob spraying with water from the pot making him whine.
"P'Kong! That's not fair!"
"80 kilometres more to the journey's end!" Arthit pointed at the signboard that they passed with a wide smile on his face.
He hissed and covered his mouth when he heard David groan in his sleep at the front seat by his exclamation.
"Someone is extremely excited." Neen giggled beside Arthit, her hand caressing Ryan's hair who was sleeping on his lap.
"Anything wrong with that?" Arthit batted his eyelashes making Neen laugh.
"I'm too tired seeing you daydream about Kong."
Arthit scratched the back of his neck, embarrassed at being caught. The sly smile his sister-in-law gave him made his whole face heat up.
"Achoo!" Arthit covered his mouth as he sneezed, sniffling he rubbed his nose.
"Bless you." Neen smiled at him, handing over a tissue which the other gladly accepted.
The cold weather was getting into him and Arthit just hopes that he doesn't get sick by the time they reach their destination. He doesn't want to get sick and get bedridden on their two weeks vacation. He had planned soo much, to get to know Kongpob, speak with the younger male and spend time with him as much as possible. He better survive the cold better. Arthit immediately pulled up the cap of the hoodie he wore over his head, pulling up the glass window so the cold wind doesn't hit his face and make it worse. Precautions are a must.
His eyes darted to Neen, a chuckle left his lips as he watched his sister-in-law irritate Aran who was driving the car why tickling his ear with a twisted tissue, earning a warning whine from Aran.
Arthit could picture himself and Kongpob in their place somehow. He knows that it hasn't been many days since he got to know his soon-to-be fiance but somehow, somewhere a part of him could picture his life with the younger male. The days they could spend as a family, filled with beautiful laughter and the warmth that would emit from their relationship.
A smile stretched across his lips, popping his dimples on his cheek. He reached out for his bag, taking out a small brown leather box from the front row. He opened the lid, leaning over to the car's window his finger caressed over the necklace with a platinum half sun and moon pendant hanging from the chain.
Arthit closed his eyes, his heart skipping a few beats as a shy giggle left his lips as he imagined the younger male wearing the gift he had bought for him. His mind ran miles with the way he could hand over the gift.
Them in the middle of the forest, all alone, leaning on a tree. The silence filled with Kongpob's innocent, beautiful laughter. The tanned skin glowing with the light rays that passed through the leaves of the tree. He could imagine himself staring at the beauty in front of him with a warm smile adorning his lips as he takes out the said box and placed it on the younger's hand who would look up at him with those charcoal eyes that could burn him with emotions.
Arthit shook his head, slapping his cheek as he came out of his daydream. He shouldn't let himself do so because he doesn't want to get teased further by any of them for daydreaming again and forcing him to voice out whether he was thinking about Kongpob or not.
He decided to gaze out of the window, focus his mind on the beautiful scenery that was outside. But all that he could think of was the face of the beautiful honey skinned boy that has captured his heart.
The journey seemed too long for Arthit despite the fact that Aran was trying to reach the place as soon as he can because of his desperate brother.
"We're here!" Aran called out after what seemed like ages catching Arthit's attention.
His eyes caught the sight of a warm two stroyed house that was not too far away from them as Aran drive into the long driveway. His eyes immediately caught on the movement of two people on the terrace. Leaning over to his bag he took out his binocular, rolling the car's window down he positioned the binocular over his eyes. Focusing it over the second storey of the house a wide dimpled smile graced his lips as he caught the sight of his soon-to-be fiance who was laughing and running behind Nai who tried to spray water over him from the water can.
Butterflies swarmed inside his tummy as he watched Kongpob rush over to the railing, gasping when he found their car. The smile that made onto the younger's lips blinded Arthit. Kongpob's smiles and laughter are the most beautiful ones he had ever seen. The innocence and warmth it holds melt everyone's heart.
Arthit placed the binocular away when Kongpob and Nai rushed back inside, probably to inform Decha and Maya about their arrival.
When the car was parked he spotted the younger's family already waiting for them at the parking space. Before Arthit knew everyone was out of the car, chatting and exclaiming about how happy they're to spend time together. While Arthit's eyes followed Kongpob who was now kneeling in front of Ryan as he talked to him, pinching his nephew's cheeks as he planted a quick kiss on it. And how Arthit wished he got one too.
"Stop staring P'Arthit! He isn't going anywhere!"
Nai's shrill voice jolted Arthit out of his thoughts.
"You'll get to see him for the whole two weeks stay! Now give your brother-in-law some attention!" Nai giggled as he pulled Arthit's hand, he glanced at his brother who narrowed his gaze at him. Sticking his tongue out at the latter he pulled Arthit, jogging towards the house.
Neen giggled at the interaction, she didn't miss seeing the pout that formed on Kongpob's face when Nai dragged Arthit away.
"P'Neen, let's go inside," Kongpob stood up, his eyes darted towards the house.
Neen laughed, "You and Arthit are no different."
"Huh?" Kongpob blinked, confused at what Neen was stating.
"Nothing my dear brother-in-law, let's go inside." Taking Ryan's hand Neen walked past Kongpob leaving the younger male to stare at her confused.
Sighing in defeat Kongpob followed Neen inside.
Soon everyone was seated over the back porch. Filling the house with chattering and laughter.
"Kong is bringing drinks, please have it." Decha stood up from his chair, signalling Kongpob to bring it over fast.
"Decha, take the seat." David glared at the latter as he pulled his and to sit back on the chair.
He turned towards Kongpob who nervously stared at him, "Kongpob, dear, put that down."
After Kongpob placed the tray on the coffee table they sat at, on the front porch, David turned towards Decha, giving him a raised eyebrow.
"We can help ourselves, Decha. We haven't come here as guests, we're here as a family. So, no special treatment for any of us." David pointed his finger playfully at Decha making them laugh.
"Sure-Sure, David."
Kongpob glanced at Nai who stood beside him, both having a warm smile on their lips. Gestures like this from David reminds them that their ideologies and society's talk wasn't all of it. David saw them as equal despite the fact that they're much below their status in society.
"Where are you going?" Nai eyed Kongpob who took out one glass from the tray and turned around to walk away.
Kongpob stopped in his tracks, "Oh, he didn't get the drink."
"Who?" A smirk formed on Nai's lips.
"H-He," Kongpob mumbled, a deep blush forming on his cheeks.
"This 'he' doesn't have a name?" Nai took Kongpob free hand in his, holding him so the latter doesn't run away.
"Can you lower your voice Nai? They'll hear you!" Kongpob whisper yelled, glancing at his in-laws who are chatted at the table.
"Ok fine, now tell me." Nai lowered his voice, wiggling his eyebrows at his brother.
"F-For P'Arthit." Kongpob bit his lips, feeling a shiver run down his spine just by uttering the name of the elder.
"There! Was that too hard?" Nai giggled. "Now go and give the drink to your husband."
"Nai!" Kongpob facepalmed before he bolted out of the place. If he stand a little longer Nai would make it a mission to turn his face into a ripped tomato.
It took almost three minutes for him to find Arthit. The elder male was still at the front door, near the luggage. Kongpob found the latter trying to take one of the luggage but he soon stopped as he sniffled into the handkerchief in his hand.
Kongpob sighed. It's good that he had brought warm water for the latter. Taking a deep breath he walked towards the elder male.
"Water?"
Arthit turned around in a flash, keeping the kerchief away as he stared at Kongpob. A small smile formed on his lips as their eyes met.
"Thank you." Arthit reached out to take the glass, he shivered when his finger slightly brushed over the younger's hand. He watched Kongpob visibly blush at the contact.
Nodding his head Kongpob turned around, walking away and it made Arthit chuckle.
Arthit's face scrunched as he left the warmth of the water in his hand, he prefer cold or normal water over hot ones. So the next option he has was to lean over to the plastic chiller that was on the floor, opening it he gathered a few ice cubes in his hand.
"When you have a cold-" Arthit jolted at the voice, he lifted his gaze finding Kongpob staring at him from the door. Concern in his eyes.
"You ought not to drink iced water."
Arthit gasped as he watched the younger male walk back inside after the small remark. A wide smile graced his lips, feeling butterflies in his stomach. He dropped the ice cubes back inside the chiller. Smiling to himself he took sips from the warm water Kongpob had handed over to him.
"Come, let's have dinner!" Decha excitedly guided Aran and David towards the dining room, all others already walking around the room, helping eachother to settle down the food on the low tables.
"Oh, all of these looks delicious!" Decha couldn't help but exclaim as he walked over to take a seat on the carpeted floor.
Decha smiled, he then turned towards Ryan taking the little boy's hand in his, "Our little champ too! Come sit!"
Ryan jumped excitedly, eyeing all the delicious dishes placed over on his plate."Wow, grandpa! We have small dining tables!"
The family laughed at the little boy's exclamation.
"Small ones specially for our little champ!" Decha placed a kiss on Ryan's forehead after letting the boy sit.
"Papa, Aunt Maya is an incredible cook!" Neen exclaimed as he walked out of the kitchen along with Maya and Kongpob carrying the dishes in hand. "The garnishing propositions are on the fingertips. I was amazed!"
David smiled wide, he pointed at Decha with a teasing smile, "Khun Maya! He's a lucky man!"
Maya smiled politely, chuckling at the remark. She glanced at her husband who smiled warmly at her.
"N'Aran, don't hesitate to help yourself." Decha pointed out, noticing that the younger male was hesitant around taking in selecting the dishes.
Aran smiled nervously, "Oh I'm fine, uncle."
"P'Neen, he's missing his daily newspaper." Arthit pointed out laughing as he took his seat beside his brother.
Aran glared at Arthit, pinching him on his thigh making the younger male yelp.
"Well, Kongpob prepared few of the dishes today," Neen added as she scouted down in front of Arthit.
"Really?! Kongpob, can I have some more of it?" David called out making Kongpob smile wide as he walked towards the elder male to serve him more of the dish he had cooked.
Neen teasingly leaned towards Arthit placing a spoon full of the dish on his plate.
"Your soon-to-be husband made this," Neen whispered making Arthit smile shyly, he subtly glanced over at Kongpob who was serving others.
"Uncle David! P'Kong added less spices for you." Nai called out from the kitchen before he walked towards Decha to serve him.
"And added extra spice for someone special." Nai teasingly gazed at Arthit.
Arthit blinked, he looked over at Neen who winked at him. He bit his lips, trying to stop himself from smiling too wide.
His breath hitched when Kongpob was suddenly in front of him. The younger was about to serve him but Arthit held up his hand.
"Aw, no thanks." There were a lot of dishes on his plate already and he's not sure if he can finish all of them.
Kongpob stared at the elder, their eyes locked. A small pout formed on the younger's lips that made Arthit's heart skip a few beats. Shrugging his shoulders Kongpob added the spoon full of the dish onto Arthit's plate before he walked away to the kitchen, nonchalantly.
Arthit stared at his plate, smiling like an idiot as he glanced in the direction Kongpob had disappeared. He doesn't care if anyone thinks he's out of his mind with the crazy smile on his lips.
Conversation topics changed quicker than lightning could strike around the dining room. Starting with conversations of "did you like the place?" to childhood stories.
The room echoed with giggles and laughter as stories were shared. The presence of Ryan added to the joyfulness among the family.
Arthit and Kongpob would steal glances as they sat opposite to eachother. When one of the dishes in Arthit's plate finishes Kongpob would stand up from the other side, serving the other once again. Even if Arthit protests Kongpob would still serve him with a whisper of 'you should eat more' before he goes back to his seat. Everyone was too busy to notice anyway, or so they thought.
When dinner was done most of them settled down in the living room. Ryan and Nai sat at the corner with the carrom board, deciding to play it. Kongpob settled beside Decha with a plate full of fruits.
"Kongpob, I have told Decha that you'll be continuing your studies in Bangkok." David took the piece of orange that Kongpob handed over with a smile on his face. "Afterwards if you wish you can work at our company."
Kongpob smiled, nodding his head. He giggled when Ryan walked over and hugged over his neck, pointing at the fruits. David reached over to ruffle his grandson's hair with a chuckle as Kongpob fed the little boy with fruits.
Taking a handful of apple slices Ryan ran back to Nai, passing him some of them they resumed the game.
"Until Ryan was born Neen used to go to the office every day. She still does, but stays most of the days at home because she gives importance to Ryan as well. I believe that bearers and women prove a better administration." David patted Kongpob's shoulder. He was impressed by the younger male. Decha had informed him about the latter s academic successes and he's proud to have a brilliant son-in-law like Kongpob.
David was startled when Aran walked to him suddenly and started whispering into his ear.
"What? Really!?" David's eyes widened at what he heard.
David glanced at Kongpob who looked puzzled, he stood up and followed Aran to the adjacent room.
"Decha!" His angry voice greeted Decha and Maya who was gathering up blankets in the room. "I heard that you aren't staying with us tonight!"
Decha smiled nervously, "We'll use the quarters nearby, you won't find any inconvenience here."
"Pa, it's all because so that we could have those three large bedrooms to ourselves." Neen walked into the room, pouting as she pointed at the elders.
"Uh-No, n-not really." Decha glanced at Maya who gulped.
David's hands rested on his hip as he stared at Decha who squirmed at his gaze. He glanced behind him to see Kongpob nervously staring at them.
"Aran," David called out, he nodded his head at his son when their eyes met.
Before Decha and Maya could comprehend what was happening the blankets and pillows in their hands were snatched off by Aran and Neen.
"Beddings in place! Make it quick everyone!" David called out as they walked out of the room towards the living area, leaving Decha, Maya and Kongpob to gasp at them.
Kongpob turned towards his uncle who smiled warmly at him. He could see the elder's eyes whelming up with tears, a sign that what they have chosen was the right decision to make.
"Grandpa, I'll sleep here!" Ryan exclaimed as he helped the elders to set the mattresses on the floor.
"Arthit, get more mattresses please," Aran called out. Arthit gave a thumbs up before he walked to the storeroom.
"David, I'll manage these you can take res-" Decha shut his mouth when David glared at him
"Aran! Please make him sit at one place." David's demand made Aran chuckle. "We'll handle this Decha, you don't have to worry."
David clapped to get everyone's attention, "Everyone, listen! Kongpob, Nai and the ladies can sleep in the other room. Others let's sleep in here."
He then turned towards Arthit who walked in with the mattress, "Arthit, put my mattress near Decha's. I'll lecture him the whole night."
Decha laughed at the other's remark. He zipped his lips when David gave him a warning look. The next moment the whole house turned dark, lights turned off and fans stopped working.
"Oh no! The lights are off!" Decha groaned he immediately turned around to check the electric panel in the basement.
"Oh, Decha! Will you just sit? It's nothing serious!" David stopped the latter, pulling him to sit on the mattress.
"But-"
"Power supply gives such challenges all the time. It's nothing too serious." David shrugged his shoulders. He smiled at Nai who walked in to place lighted candles in the room.
Arthit leaned against the staircase, immediately pulling away when Kongpob walked down the stairs.
"Can I carry some? To help you?" Arthit offered a hand, pointing at the set of blankets, a jug of water and book in the other's hand.
Kongpob smiled wide as Arthit reached over to take the jug in his hand. When the younger shifted the book in his hand to the other Arthit took it in his hand leaving Kongpob to carry the blankets.
"Every morning Lung drinks water from the copper tumbler, it's good for health." Kongpob glanced up at the elder male as they walked towards his room.
"This might be your Bpâa's book?" Arthit raised the book in his hand.
"Yes." Kongpob chuckled as he watched the other observe it.
The younger glanced at Arthit, a small smile played on his lips as he listened to the soft whistling of the elder. "Thank you, P'Arthit."
"What for?" Arthit turned to face the younger male, "Aren't your Lung and Bpâa my family too?"
Kongpob bit his inner cheek, the warm the other's words made him feel how lucky he was. To have someone like Arthit in his life.
They walked in silence until they reached in front of the room Kongpob was sleeping in, Arthit handed the book to him. Adding that he will pass the tumblr to Decha.
"Wait!" Arthit called out before he could change his mind. He took out the leather box from his pocket. He knows this isn't the way he had imagined giving the gift to the younger male but at the very moment, it felt perfect.
Looking up at the confused charcoal eyes of the younger male he smiled, giving sight to his dimples. "For you, a gift."
Kongpob gasped, he glanced between Arthit and the box before he reached out to take it with his trembling hand.
"Tomorrow-" Arthit cleared his throat, "Tomorrow, can we meet?"
Kongpob looked up, the anticipation gracing over the other's bright features made his heartbeat raise.
"If you say so then P'Neen can arrange it," Arthit said it with soo much hope that Kongpob found himself smiling at him.
He never thought that one day someone like Arthit would yearn for his presence, to talk to him, spend time with him.
"So?" Arthit bit his lips, his hazel eyes piercing into his being.
Kongpob smiled wide, without a word he turned around, jogging away to the room
"Yes!" Arthit whisper yelled with a wide grin as he jumped, immediately stopping with a hiss when the water started to spill out of the tumbler.
Stay, Day 2:
Arthit kept glancing back as he walked along with Aran. Decha, David and Maya at the front. His eyes kept making their way to stare at the younger, who was walking behind him.
"Nothing is like a mountain walk, much to gain out of little effort. Like big profits out of small capital, your knee pain will vanish in a blink." David pointed at Maya's leg.
Maya shook her head, chucking at the other's remark.
"Boys faster please!" David glanced back at his sons.
Arthit bit his lips, take a look behind him he suddenly squatted down. His fingers immediately untying his shoelace.
"Arthit, What happened?" Aran stopped in his tracks.
Arthit waved his hands, dismissing the other."Oh, you can go, I'll come along."
When Aran turned his attention away from him Arthit stood up and ran back towards the four who was walking behind him.
"He'll be here in a minute!" Neen whispered to Kongpob, she immediately laughed when she saw her brother-in-law jogging towards him. "See! I told you!"
Arthit smiled nervously at the three as he stood beside Neen, he nudged her shoulder.
"What about our meeting?"
"What's the hurry?" Neen chuckled at the other's impatience.
"P'Neen!" Arthit whisper-yelled.
"Until it's all set, do some exercises." Neen pushed Arthit forward making him stumble a little.
He scratched the back of his neck when he saw Kongpob and Nai muffle their laughter. With a pout on his lips, he jogged back towards his brother.
As they walked towards the small market at the hilltop Arthit glanced at Aran who suddenly lagged behind them. He hid his laughter as he watched him but a newspaper from the nearby shop before anyone could notice him. He never understands his brother's craze for newspapers.
"Is it the smell of freshly made Khao Pad?" David sniffled, looking around to find the place where the delicious aroma was coming from.
"Yes, it is!" Decha pointed at a street food vendor. "How about having an early breakfast then!?"
"Yes!"
Everyone hurried towards the food vendor as they took their seats on the plastic stairs placed around it. Chatterings and laughter were shared around them.
Arthit tapped his foot impatiently, he tried to get the attention of his sister-in-law but Kongpob was the one who would notice his subtle attempts to call out Neen. Kongpob muffled his laughter when he saw Arthit's eyes widen when their eyes met. He didn't want the poor guy to suffer so he himself patted on Neen's shoulder who sat beside him. When she turned to face him he pointed at Arthit.
"What?" Neen mouthed.
"P'Neen, get him to talk to Pa," Arthit whispered as he pointed at Aran.
Neen nodded her head, she chuckled at him before she stood up and walked to the other side where Aran was busy reading the newspaper. Once close Neen leaned in to whisper into her husband's ears.
"No," Aran replied without a bat of an eyelid.
Neen stood straight, her hands on her hip."Go."
Aran shrugged his shoulder as he continued to read.
"Go, Aran." Neen glared at him as she snatched the newspaper away.
Aran rolled his eyes, stood up with a sigh as he walked over to David.
"Pa?"
"Yes?" David glanced up at his son.
Aran cleared his throat, "What's our day's plan?"
"We're gonna see the vineyards here right?" The elder rechecked with Decha who nodded his head before resuming with his talk.
"So like I was saying...."
"Pa," Aran patted on his shoulder.
With a sigh, David looked up with a narrowed gaze, "What is it Aran?"
"Ryan wants to see the lake."
"What lake?" Ryan leaned backwards when his mouth was suddenly covered by Arthit's palm. He shut his mouth when his uncle glared at him.
"Can we go, Pa?" Aran asked.
David glanced at Ryan who smiled wide at him, the little boy knew something was going on."Ok, if Ryan wants to go then you can of course."
Aran smiled wide when he saw Arthit high fiving with Neen from the corner of his eyes.
"Aunt Maya," He called out politely, "Can we take Kongpob and Nai along with us?"
Maya glanced at Decha before she smiled at Aran."Sure."
"He worked out a miracle!" Arthit hugged Neen over her shoulders, all excited and jittery as he stared at his brother who laughed at him.
"P'Neen! Can you believe it!? P'Aran asked Pa!" Arthit raised his hands in the air in disbelief making Aran take a stone from the ground and throw it at him. Kongpob and Nai couldn't help but laugh at the brothers' antics.
Neen laughed, "Snatch the newspaper in his hand and in Khun Chai's words-" Neen winked at Aran, "He's the world's best husband!"
Arthit giggled, he rushed towards his brother, planting a tight kiss on his cheek."I love you!"
"Yuck!" Aran pushed the younger away, the action made everyone laugh even Ryan who watched his father and uncle.
Arthit stopped in his tracks, waiting for Kongpob to walk up to them. Nai gave a teasing smile to him, humming with a smirk he took fast steps, leaving the two to spend time together as he gathered Ryan in his arms and started to play.
With hands in his pocket, Arthit started to walk along with Kongpob. His eyes fixed on the younger as they walked through the woods, a shy smile lingering on both of their lips.
Arthit did not, could not look away from the honey skinned man who was beside him. Their shoulders brushing as they walked, none of them spoke, afraid they would break the beautiful silence that surrounded them despite the loud chattering and laughter of Nai and Ryan.
Staring at Kongpob, Arthit found himself taking uneven breathes as his eyes trailed on the glow of the younger's perfectly tanned cheek glazed from the early morning's warm light. He took a deep breath, the proximity between them letting him take an inhale of the other's scent. A scent of lilacs.
Kongpob raised his gaze, his lips quivered and a rosy dust rested on his cheeks when the warm gaze of the hazel eyes met his. They broke their stare in an instant, feeling as if a blaze had run through them.
They followed the Aran and Neen towards the botanical garden situated near the woods. Since it was still early in the morning there weren't many people present at the place.
The young couple moved to a side as they watched Aran drag Neen towards one of the vendors who was selling scarfs. They smiled as they watched Aran select different scarfs for Neen, his nose scrunching when one of them didn't suit her. The adoration that filled Neen's features made Arthit smile wider.
"It's lovely seeing P'Neen and P'Aran together this way. P'Aran is soo busy at work he hardly gets time for her. Out here they're having a lovely holiday." Arthit started to walk, the younger male tagging along."Thanks to you."
Kongpob smiled, nodding his head.
The silence prevailed among them more the next few minutes as they walked further into the garden. Arthit turned to face Kongpob when the urge to talk to him and hear the latter s voice took over him.
"Did you like the gift, Kong?"
A bright smile adorned Kongpob's rosy lips, "Very much."
Arthit released the breath he had unconsciously held after hearing the other's reply, "Actually, I and P'Neen scoured the mall for a whole day before we found this. I-I could imagine you wearing it, it looked perfect."
Arthit stopped on his tracks, noticing Kongpob's neck."You-You didn't wear it?"
Kongpob gulped, the way Arthit's face fell made his chest tighten. He didn't want to make the latter feel as if he didn't like the gift.
"I loved the gift P'Arthit, it was beautiful but may I wear it after our wedding?" The younger tilted his head, a small pout gathered on his lips.
Arthit blinked, his eyebrows raised in confusion.
Kongpob gave a soft smile, "In our town, we all live a simple life. Wearing such an expensive gift there, I would feel uncomfortable."
Arthit's eyes widened, realising what the other mean."Oh, it's ok! I understand."
With a gentle smile Arthit nodded his head, turning his face away he walked away leaving Kongpob to stay behind, confused and puzzled at what he should do.
Kongpob bit his lips, the smile on his face fell as he watched Arthit's dejected form disappear behind the large stone pillars situated in the garden. He silently stood at the place, his arms wrapped around his waist. A sigh left his lips.
"Is he mad at me?" Kongpob questioned himself with a pout.
Gazing at the direction the elder male had gone Kongpob decided to follow him and talk it out. He doesn't like when things are left unsaid and cleared off of any misunderstanding.
Kongpob made his way towards the top of the hill the garden was situated, passing gentle smiles at the vendors that were walking around the place. The chill of the morning breeze made him shiver.
"P'Arthit?" He stopped in his tracks when he found the elder male leaning on one of the pillars of the small square roof patio in the middle of the garden. Gazing at the morning sky.
"Kong," Arthit's voice was tender, sending warmth through the younger despite the cold weather. The elder hasn't even turned to face him.
"Today you spoke your heart and voiced it out frankly. Without the thought of impressing the other by changing your thoughts," Arthit turned to face the younger. "It felt wonderful."
"Maybe, it's this honesty that's to be the cornerstone of our relationship."
Kongpob gulped, stepping forward to be close enough to Arthit. He wanted to feel the warmth again, the warmth that had disappeared from him when Arthit walked away. Staring at the softly smiling elder's face he stood rooted on his spot, mesmerized at how charming the other looked with the fiery rays of the sun falling on the milky skin. The hazel eyes shone and projected more beautiful than he had ever seen.
"With the same honestly if I give you another gift, and if you think it's right. Will you...wear it, Kong?"
Kongpob blinked at the other's query. A gasp soon left his lips when Arthit turned around completely revealing a lilac flower crown in his hands.
The gesture took Kongpob's breath away. He doesn't know if it was because of the beautiful flower crown or the man who held it that made him skip his heartbeats.
Arthit stepped forward with a wide smile, gazing at the overwhelmed pair of charcoal eyes as slowly raised his hands, gently placing the set of lilac flowers over Kongpob's head.
"Beautiful." and Enchanting, Arthit couldn't voice out anymore as he took in the sight of a blushing Kongpob, clad in the navy blue sweater and a cream shawl draped over him. Wearing the lilac flower crown, looking extremely adorable and beautiful in his eyes.
"Oh!" The couple exclaimed as the patter of the rain was heard and drops of the rain fell on their faces.
A giggle erupted from their lips as they bolted from the place, skipping down the stairs as the rain poured heavily.
Kongpob removed his shawl from one hand before wrapping it over both of their heads making Arthit smile wide, the grip on their intertwined hands hardened as they continued to run. Giggling and laughing as they fastened their steps through the heavy downpour.
When they spotted Neen, Aran and Ryan inside a horsecart, signalling them to come over, the young couple stepped in with them. Neen and Aran laughing at the two drenched males were.
Arthit removed the cloth over his head after they settled inside the horse cart, wrapping it completely over Kongpob's head and neck. Trying to not get the latter sick, the action made Kongpob blush as he looked away.
Nai giggled as he hurriedly sat beside Kongpob, voluntarily pushing the other as he sat, making Kongpob lean towards Arthit's chest, his hand gripped on the elder's wet shirt as he balanced himself.
Skipped heartbeats and echoing of each other's breathing made them feel weak in the knees. Despite clutching onto eachother they felt the need to get more closer, to be Cocooned in the warmth that only they could provide.
Soo much little was said and soo much remains with them. They wanted to dance like the peacock in the rain, the happiness and excitement of mere glances and touches overpowering their senses, the proximity didn't help either. Kongpob gave up in the end, clutching onto the shawl over his head he rested his head on Arthit's chest. The rhythic beats of heavy downpour echoed in their ears along with their raising heartbeats.
Stay, Day 3
"Let's play Seven stones!" Ryan gathered up the necessary items as he rushed towards the elders.
"Yes! Let's play!" Kongpob stood up from sitting over the grass as he jogged towards Ryan. Helping the boy to stack up the 7 blocks he had brought.
"Me too!" Nai exclaimed as he followed, not before pulling Arthit along with him. Neen and Aran who was watching over them chuckled before following them as Ryan shouted for them to join too.
"I, Uncle Thit and Papa in one team!" Ryan jumped in excitement as he chose his team.
"Let's see who wins!" Nai smirked, his hands pulling Neen and Kongpob closer to him.
"Let's see!" Ryan sticks his tongue out at them. "We're going to win!"
"Let's see young man," Neen stuck her tongue back at her son who pouted.
"We should win Uncle Thit!" Ryan took hold of Arthit's hand. "You're the best player!"
Arthit laughed, he glanced at Kongpob who was staring back at him with a playful smile. He smirked back. "Yes-yes, buddy."
"Let's start!" Aran clapped his hands, signalling everyone to take their position.
"Let's play rock-paper-scissors to find out who goes first!" Neen exclaims.
Aran pushed Arthit forward as he smirked, Neen and Nai doing the same with Kongpob. The two chuckled as they stood face to face.
"Ready?" Kongpob whispered. A challenging smile played on Arthit's lips as he nodded.
"Rock-paper-scissors!"
Nai and Neen high fived as they watched Kongpob choose the rock while Arthit chose the scissors.
"We're going first!" Kongpob exclaimed as he pushed Arthit's hand with his fist, laughing as he jogged back to take his position.
Arthit chuckled, shaking his head as he walked back to stand beside his brother.
"You made us lose," Ryan pouted at his uncle who gave him a helpless stare.
"We have yet to complete the game, Ryan. We'll win," Aran wrapped his hand around his son's shoulder as they fist-bumped.
"Ready!?" Nai shouted.
"Ready!"
Nai threw the ball first, Aran immediately catching it from the other side and throwing it back towards the other team. The throw lasted for the next two times with one of the team members catching it.
On the third throw from Arthit, Kongpob jumped and caught it in his hand. He immediately positioned it at the side of his face, sticking his tongue out he aimed at the stacks of blocks. Neen and Nai cheered loudly as Kongpob made his throw.
"Yes!!" Kongpob jumped up, throwing a punch into the air as the blocks fell with his throw.
Neen immediately ran towards the ball, kicking it with her feet so it goes as far as possible.
"Catch it! Catch it!" Aran shouted in panic as Ryan and Arthit ran ahead of him to catch the moving ball.
Arthit dived into the ground, catching the ball before it rolled away further. A victorious smile graced his lips as he took the ball and stood up.
"Yes! Now hit Kong, Arthit!" Aran shook Arthit's shoulder in excitement as they watched the other team hurriedly try to place the blocks in their previous position.
"Arthit! Hit him!"
Arthit nodded his head, raising his hand to throw the ball but he halted. His eyes landed on the laughing figure of the younger male. The innocence of the laughter and glint of happiness in Kongpob's eyes made rooted him in his place.
"Hit him or they'll win Arthit!" Aran groaned, giving his brother a push on his shoulder.
"Hit Uncle Kong!" Ryan whined, he jumped to take the ball from Arthit but the latter was too engrossed in staring at Kongpob.
Arthit was brought out of his daze when the loud cheering of the opposite team was heard. His eyes widened realising he still hadn't thrown the ball.
"Gosh Arthit! Why didn't you hit him!?" Aran glared at his brother.
"Uh-Sorry?" Arthit gave a nervous smile, he hissed when he received a punch on the side of his stomach from Ryan.
"You made us lose Uncle Thit!"
"You rascal!"
Aran and Ryan exclaimed they glared at Arthit. Before anyone could comprehend what was happening Arthit was already running away from Aran and Ryan, shouting out a number of 'sorry'.
"He didn't want to hit you maybe," Nai teased Kongpob who was laughing as he watched the trio.
"Uh-Uh!" Neen whistled as she teased Kongpob who blushed at their knowing stares.
The smile on his lips never left despite his face getting warm with the other two cooing and teasing as he watched Arthit get tackled on the ground by Aran and Ryan.
"Oh P'Arthit," a giggle escaped his lips.
Stay, Day 4
Ryan laughed and squealed as Arthit tossed him on the water, he giggled when his uncle dived in to tickle his tummy under the water.
"Uncle Thit!" Ryan threw his head back laughing as Arthit suddenly raised him in the air.
"You little monkey!" Arthit laughed, cradling his nephew in his arms before splashing water onto him.
Aran chuckled watching the two enjoy themselves, playing in the river. He swam towards them, surprising Ryan as he caught him from the back.
"Oh, Papa! You scared me!" Ryan giggled, wrapping his small arms around Aran's neck.
Arthit laughed, splashing water at the two as he walked back towards the mini waterfall. Sighing in content as the water splashes over his head.
His eyes darted towards the river bank. The corner of his lips lifted as he watched Kongpob and Neen carry the picnic baskets towards the picnic blanket they had set on the shore.
Seeing Kongpob interact with his family members always made him feel warm. Excited with the feeling of accepting the fact that Kongpob is a part of their family now.
"Neen! What are you doing there?"
Arthit turned to face his brother who called out for Neen, his eyes narrowed in suspicion as he watched the elder ask Ryan to swim towards him.
"What is your Papa going to do?" Arthit stretched his arms as he pulled Ryan near him.
"Wait and see!" The little boy giggled making Arthit chuckle at his antics.
Kongpob nodded his head with a smile as Neen excused before standing up from the blanket and jogging towards Aran.
"What?" She crouched over the wooden plank, staring at her husband who was in the water.
Aran smiled sheepishly at her, suddenly pointing behind her, "Hey look over there!"
When Neen turned around Aran took the chance and hauled Neen in his arms earning a yelp from the other. He carried his laughing wife back into the water, both falling into it with a splash. Laughers and kisses being shared.
Kongpob smiled warmly at them, watching the couple laugh and tease eachother, splashing water. Sharing soft kisses.
He gulped, his arms wrapped around his tummy unconsciously, feeling the tremors in the pit of his stomach. His toes curled as he watched Arthit walk out of the water, a smirk adorning the elder's lips as he made his way towards him.
Kongpob's eyes trailed over the elder male, a batted breath leaving his lips as his eyes roamed over Arthit's torso and bare arms. The black vest of the elder hugging tight over his perfectly toned torso.
His eyes widened when Arthit knelt in front of him, their cheeks almost brushing as the elder male leaned over. Kongpob held his breath, eyes cast to the opposite side as his arms tightened around his waist. Feeling a shiver run down his spine.
Arthit eyed the younger male from the corner of his eyes, chuckling he took the towel that was placed behind Kongpob before he pulled away.
"Don't worry," Arthit tilted his head to catch the other's gaze. Winking when their eyes met, "I just came here for the towel."
Arthit smirked at the younger, making Kongpob gasp and blush as he averted his gaze once again, a silly smile adorning his lips as he covered his face. Peeking through the gap of his fingers at Arthit who jogged away with a wide dimpled smile on his face.
Kongpob groaned, yet ended up giggling."Oh, Kongpob!"
Arthit held his laughter as he walked towards the wooden plank. Drying his hair with the towel, his mind clouded with the flushed face of the younger male. If he had stood there a little longer he would have lost it and smashed their lips together, without a second thought.
"Where are my shoes?" Arthit's hands halted on his head. He had placed his shoes beside the wooden plank before he got into the water and now it's missing.
"Come on!" He facepalmed, looking around to see if it was nearby. He decided to walk back to where they had set their small picnic, to check if he had kept it over there.
But when he turned around he saw Kongpob's back, jogging away towards their picnic set up. He scratched the back of his neck as he glanced down.
"Huh?!" Arthit picked up his shoes that laid just below his feet. He looked up to find Kongpob already staring back at him, the younger immediately averted his gaze as he acted as if he was participating in the conversation between Nai and Ryan who sat in front of him.
Grinning like an idiot, Arthit pressed the shoes to his chest, hugging it tightly as he squealed silently into his arms.
Stay, Day 5
"Arthit, Kongpob and Ryan on the other side!"
"Yes! Uncle Kong on my team!" Ryan gave a fist bump to Kongpob who chuckled at the excited kid.
Arthit scratched the back of his neck, a silly smile adorning his face. He glanced at his brother who winked at him.
"Position guys!"
Running to take positions Arthit somehow ended up standing in the middle of Ryan and Kongpob. His nephew stood in front of him, both of them clucthing onto the rope. He turned his face to the side, glancing at Kongpob who hesitantly stood behind him, smiling nervously as he kept his hands to himself. Arthit just chuckled before turning his focus on the other team.
Aran, Neen and Nai stood at the other end of the rope. Aran stood at the front, Neen's arms wrapped around her husband's waist while Nai's rested on Neen's shoulders. Getting ready to start their game of tug of war.
"On the count of-" Neen shouted from the other end, tightening her hold on Aran.
"1-2 and 3! Go!"
Kongpob hesitantly placed his hands beside Arthit's waist as screams and shoutings echoed around them from both teams. The younger's fingers barely touching Arthit, he wanted to help them win the game but the raising heartbeats and hammering against his chest, the butterflies he was feeling wasn't at all a help.
"Pull! Pull!" Aran shouted as he tried to pull the rope further big Arthit and Ryan on the side wasn't letting it happen.
Kongpob bit his lips, a frustrated sigh leaving his lips. He locked his palms in the front, around Arthit's waist, but their skin barely touched as he only tried to pull with so little force on the rope. His nervous breaths fanning the back of Arthit's neck.
Arthit glanced down, smiling when he found Kongpob's hand over him. Turning the focus back on the game he grunted as he pulled the rope with all his might.
Kongpob bit his lips, puzzled as he watched the other team slowly trying to pull them along. They were going to lose the game if the others continue at the pace.
Taking a deep breath Kongpob wrapped his arms around Arthit's waist, holding him tight as he pulled him back with all his force. Not wanting to lose the game just because he has fallen head over heels on the man in front of him that it freaked the hell out of him just to hold the other close.
"Oh!"
Kongpob gasped, immediately releasing his hands around Arthit. His hand flew to his mouth, a giggle escaping his lips as he witnessed all others fall on the ground, along with Ryan as Arthit's tight grip on the rope was released.
Just because Kongpob hugged him tighter from the back, to pull him back.
"Oh, Arthit!"
Neen couldn't help but roll on the floor laughing with the others as she stared at the stunned form of her brother in law. Who still hand his hands up in the air, where he had gripped the rope. With hazel eyes opened wide in utter shock, lips parted in a gasp.
Kongpob tried his best to not laugh at the comical expression the elder male was having. Arthit was too stunned to even move at the point that he stepped forward to poke his arm.
The elder male immediately stood straight, his whole face flushed red as he realised what had happened. The loud laughter of everyone made him gain back his senses. He gulped, subtly turning to face Kongpob who was still giggling, trying to not break into a peal of laughter like others.
Arthit facepalmed, groaning at making himself embarrassed.
It was just a hug for god's sake Arthit!
Stay, Day 6
Aran laughed as he kicked the ball towards Ryan who caught it with his hands, unable to kick it back with his legs. He positioned the ball on the ground before kicking it back towards Aran.
"Good boy!" Aran gave a thumbs up, smiling wide as he watched Ryan giggle at the compliment.
He soon stopped playing when his phone started to ring in his pocket. Taking it out he sighed, noticing the call was from the company.
"A minute, Ryan." Aran smiled at his son who nodded his head.
Taking a step forward he attended the call. "Hello?"
"Yes? Zurich called?" Aran's eyebrows furrowed. "What did they say?"
Aran's face fell as he took in the information he received from the other end. "Really? Meeting confirmed?"
"No-no! That's-uhm-that's great news." Aran quickly masked his disappointment.
"Get the legal department to draw up the contracts. We'll be in Bangkok tomorrow."
With a sigh, Aran ended the call. He glanced at Ryan who stared back at him worried. He gave an apologetic smile to his son before asking him to follow him towards the back porch of Decha's house.
Seeing the worry marred over Aran's face Neen immediately asked her husband what was wrong. Everyone who was settled at the porch turned their attention to Aran who narrated with a sigh that they had to go back to Bangkok since one of their clients have set the date early for the meeting and further procedures.
"But Switzerland's clients are due two weeks later, right?" David asked, confused at the sudden change.
Aran nodded his head."Yes, but now they expect the signing to be done the day after tomorrow."
"And our entire board must be present during the signing of the contract. So we leave tomorrow."
Kongpob glanced at Arthit after Aran ended his talk, finding the elder male already gazing back at him he gave a tight smile. Their eyes filled with raw emotions.
They didn't share any words as David immediately asked Arthit and Aran to back their bags.
Maya and Decha decided to help the other family's packing and other needs, so Kongpob took it on himself to go prepare their lunch. Neen immediately offered her help, even though Kongpob protested at first.
Neen glanced at Kongpob as they stood beside eachother, peeling and cutting the vegetables. She could see the discontent marring over the tanned boy even though the latter tried to hide it behind his cheerful smile.
"Feel like time has passed soo quick. It's as if we were here just yesterday." Neen chuckled as she voiced out. The silent agreement from the younger male made her smile.
"Shall I tell you something, Kong?"
Kongpob looked up, staring back into the chocolate eyes of the elder. Her gaze was warm and soft, but it wasn't the same as how Arthit's hazel eyes would make him feel.
"This spell between engagement and marriage is amazing." A nostalgic smile formed on her lips. "These moments between you and Arthit, the spark of the first meeting and stolen glances, small talks that you share. All of it will be the most memorable moments of your life."
"Mark my words." Neen winked at the younger.
Kongpob chuckled, a genuine smile forming on his face for the first time after Aran had announced about their departure the next day.
"Uncle Kong!"
Kongpob turned towards the kitchen door, finding Ryan run towards him with his small steps.
"Uncle Thit needs water!"
Neen cleared her throat, giving a sly smile to the younger male who flushed at his gaze.
"Tell your Uncle Thit that he'll bring it," Neen informed her son who nodded his head and ran back. Turning towards Kongpob who had already moved to take a glass, she chuckled.
"Go, he might be really thirsty." Neen let herself laugh as she watched Kongpob blush mauve with her teasing words.
As soon as he filled the glass with water Kongpob immediately walked out of the kitchen leaving Neen to control her laughter. Smacking himself on his forehead a giggle escaped his lips. Taking deep breaths he made sure he was calm, not a blushing mess as he walked upstairs to the room Arthit's luggage was kept.
He halted on his steps when he found Arthit leaning against the door frame. Their eyes met and Kongpob offered a soft smile before closing the distance between them, handing the glass of water to the elder.
"You wanted to say something?" Kongpob asked after Arthit took a sip from the glass. He fidgeted in anticipation, playing with the end of his oversized green sweatshirt.
Arthit gazed into the charcoal eyes, his mind muddled with various aspects of how the younger male will consider his request. He doesn't know if it's right but that was all he wanted now.
"Kong, tonight after dinner-" Arthit took a deep breath. "For a little while, will you come to the balcony?"
"If only you think that it's the right thing to do." Arthit immediately added, nervous over something he still isn't aware of.
Kongpob bit his lower lip, staring back into the pool of uncertainty laying on the other's hazel eyes. Arthit gave a nervous smile to the younger before walking back into the room. With a silent understanding of the need to wait.
Ryan ran towards Neen, tugging on her sweater when he was beside her. "Can I sleep with Uncle Thit at the balcony, Mommy? Please!"
Neen chuckled, planting a soft kiss on his forehead as she leaned back on the sofa, beside Aran who was playing caroms with Decha and David after their dinner.
"Ok, but don't forget that we have to leave early tomorrow."
"Yay!" Ryan gave a kiss on her cheek before running back, halted on his steps when he saw Arthit waiting for him.
He took hold of his uncle's hand excitedly, "Let's go!"
Arthit ruffled his hair, chuckling, before they could walk away both stopped on their tracks when they met Kongpob, who walked towards the living room with a tray filled with glasses of milk.
Ryan gave a wide smile to the elder when their eyes met but Arthit could only share a tight smile with the other, nodding his acknowledgement as he turned around towards the staircase. Ryan immediately jumped up the stairs.
"Be careful," Kongpob called out, smiling when Ryan slowed his pace. His eyes lingered on Arthit's back for a moment before he walked towards the others who were settled in the living room.
Arthit tucked Ryan under the warm blanket. Smiling softly as he caressed his nephew's hair, the little boy was already yawning. Both of them under the shelter of the wooden bed patio.
Arthit hummed a tune as he let Ryan drift into his dreamland. While be waited, for him. His mind clouded with uncertainty, questioning himself whether he had crossed the line.
They were yet to become something to eachother, they had to wait. And that made him take a step back, rethinking about the time when he asked Kongpob to spend time with him on the balcony.
Arthit took a deep breath, making sure Ryan had fallen asleep he stood up. Walking towards the end of the balcony, leaning over the railing, his arms clutching onto the rail.
His heart falters in doubts of hope and despair. Worse was the menacing solitude he was experiencing. Arthit always loved being alone at night, so he could stare at the sky and drown in the calmness of the night. But today, he didn't like the silence. He didn't like the fact that he was alone.
Minutes have already passed and he could see the lights of each room being turned off. A defeated sigh left his lips.
His ears perched up suddenly, at the sound of the balcony door opening, ever soo softly. He turned around in a snap. His eyes widened as his eyes landed on the younger male, a blanket clutched against his chest and his other hand holding a glass of milk.
Kongpob smiled at Arthit, closing the door behind he walked towards Ryan. Arthit immediately made hurried steps towards Ryan's side.
The elder watched as Kongpob placed the glass on the nightstand beside Ryan's bed.
"I made saffron milk for everyone, I thought you might like it." Kongpob gave a shy smile, taking a seat on the bed. He reached out to caress Ryan's hair.
"It gets chilly here, in the nights." Kongpob bit his lips as leaned over to the bed opposite to Ryan's, placing the blanket he had carried over it. Feeling the burning stare on the back of his head.
"For once I thought you wouldn't come."
Kongpob straightened, hearing the husky voice. The side of his lips lifted, a small smile adorning his lips.
"Everyone was still chatting downstairs, I just couldn't leave early."
"No one knows that you've come here?" Arthit asked, worried if the other might get in trouble.
Kongpob raised his head, meeting the concerned gaze. He chuckled, standing up he walked towards the elder who was leaning on the wooden pillar. "Nai knows, he told everyone that I went off to bed early."
"If someone finds out that you aren't there, then?" The elder tilted his head, smiling back.
Kongpob shook his head with a chuckle,"Nai had propped up pillows and covered it up with blankets. No one's gonna find out."
A peal of laughter was shared between the two at Kongpob's revelation.
When their laughter subsided Arthit's felt his heart flutter, butterflies swarming in his stomach. "All of this, just because I asked you to come?"
Kongpob's charcoal eyes stared into the pair of hazel ones, the younger took a step forward. Closing the distance between them he shook his head.
"I wanted to come."
Arthit's shoulders tensed at the remark, his face turned blank as he registered Kongpob's words. The glint held in his hazel eyes intensified, feeling something stir in him at Kongpob's declaration. The younger couldn't take the piercing gaze any longer, making him turn his face away, his fingers clutched around the pillar beside him.
His breath turned uneven as he felt a warm hand on his shoulder, turning him softly to face the elder. His gaze strictly fixed on the ground, breathing through his parted lips.
"Why did I take soo long to realise this, Kong?" A whisper left Arthit's lips, his hazel eyes darted towards the younger's neck, noticing the silver chain laying over his collarbone.
"I even missed noticing that you have worn this necklace for me tonight."
Arthit's hand slides from Kongpob's shoulder, caressing all along his arm before he laced their fingers together. In a tight grip. Letting himself know that this was very much true.
"Do you know Kong?" Arthit's gaze fell on their intertwined fingers. "Since I came to Doi Ang Khang, I have been wanting to call you to this balcony. Spend time with you here."
A shaky breath left his lips."But every time, I held back."
Kongpob looked up, the disappointment in the elder's voice visible.
"I wish I had known that I had the right to call you anytime."
Kongpob shivered staring at the hazel eyes, shivering due to a reason entirely different to the cold breeze that caressed their skin.
"But when I finally came to know," a mocking chuckle left his lips, he raised their hands towards his chest. "It's time for us to part."
Arthit pulled the younger's hand, tightly holding it in his warm ones they leaned over the rail. Facing eachother, orbs filled with love and excitement.
"People spend lifetimes looking for love." Arthit's free hand raised as his fingertips brushed against Kongpob's soft cheek making the younger's heart hammer against his chest.
"Today, I look in wonder at this custom of marriage. In which love has come to me, as a gift."
Arthit lifted the younger's hand, softly pressing his lips making the other gasp. Kongpob's face flushed as he bit his inner cheek, feeling the soft, warm flesh pressed against his skin.
Lifting his gaze Arthit slipped Kongpob's palm over his cheek, snuggling onto the warmth of the younger. "Suddenly I became soo special to someone."
Shaky breathes escaping Kongpob, the intensity of the gaze, the warmth that it spread through him was making him feel dizzy.
"What I eat, what I wear, suddenly became more important to somebody else than me. Suddenly I and you are-"
Kongpob pressed his palm on Arthit's lips, eyes closed as he stared down between them. Chest heaving as he weakly shook his head.
He couldn't hold it in, it was too sudden. The overflowing emotions were too sudden for him. Whelming him up in a way no one had ever done. The words and the deep, honey voice enchanted him, throwing him in a whirlpool of the unknown. Something he had never experienced in his life.
Arthit smiled, softly pushing the hand that covered his lips. He kissed his knuckles, pulling Kongpob closer by his waist.
He was privileged, to have this very liberty of beholding the younger's beauty to his heart's content. Both inside and out. Gazing upon him in endless love. In such a short time he never imagined he would fall in love with someone, someone he barely knew. But now, staring at the soft, warm being in his arms, he could fall all over in love again with this man.
Kongpob somehow found himself sitting on the floor as minutes passed, leaning on the railing as Arthit's head rested on his lap. His fingers involuntarily caressed over the dark chocolate locks as they melted in the comfortable silence
"Kong," Arthit's fingers caressed against the younger's palm.
"How did you come to know these smallest things about me?" The elder raised his gaze, staring into the hazel eyes.
The younger chuckled. He himself wasn't sure of an answer to the latter's question. He just found himself reaching out for Arthit, trying to find anything and everything about the elder from anyone around him because Kongpob just...he just felt like it.
He felt as if he had the right to do so.
Arthit Kongpob's eyes crinkled and a small dimple formed on his cheek as the latter smiled wide at him. All the answers immersed in it, making Arthit smile back.
"By the way, how did you find out about my cold that day?" Arthit asked, a question that had been bugging him from day one.
"Whenever you get a cold, you do this-" Kongpob scrunched his nose and sniffled, imitating the way Arthit had done when he had his cold on their first visit.
Arthit raised his eyebrow, holding in the smile that was dangerously threatening to split his lips. "How?"
Kongpob giggled, scrunching his nose and sniffling again.
Arthit couldn't help but chuckle as he raised his eyebrows, finding the younger soo adorable."Do it again?"
Kongpob began again to do as the elder told but he stopped before he could sniffle again. His eyes widened as he realised what the elder was doing. "P'Arthit!"
Arthit laughed, throwing his head back at the adorable blushing mess in front of him. His arms immediately wrapped around Kongpob's waist, his face buried into his tummy as he held the latter in place when Kongpob tried to get away from him.
Kongpob stopped his movements, basking in the feeling of Arthit in his arms. He was surprised when the latter pulled away, gazing up at him. The elder's dimples in display as he grinned at him.
Arthit took out his phone from his pocket, without giving Kongpob a chance to decipher Arthit clicked a photo. And two.
"P'Arthit," Kongpob gasped. He tried to move away, feeling giddy and nervous at the same time with the fact that the latter had taken photos of him soo unexpectedly and he doesn't even know how he looks in them.
But Arthit had other plans, he turned them over. A small yelp left Kongpob's quivering lips as his back was pressed on the floor. Arthit hovering over him, his phone tossed away to the side.
"P-P'Arthit," Kongpob couldn't trust his voice, letting only a whisper leave him.
The close proximity between them raised his heartbeat, sending signals all over inside his head. He could hear the hammering of his chest in his ears, shivering under the burn of the hazel eyes.
Arthit hesitated for a moment. His eyes darted between the pair of tensed charcoal eyes and plump lips. His turmoil was answered when a pair of shaky hands wrapped around his neck, fingers threaded into his silky hair.
He slowly, steadily leaned down. Their lips brushed at first. Sending tremors through them, ears ringing with each other's heartbeat.
Arthit inhaled the familiar scent of the younger as he finally captured the rosy pair between his lips. The lilac fragrance, mixed with the younger's natural scent, had captivated his senses. One of Kongpob's aspects that he will forever yearn for.
Silence was what filled them, it was just the thudding of their hearts and slippery nibbles of their lips. The world around seemed meaningless at that point. Nothing possibly meant more than them, nothing held more beauty than the very moment.
Those warm fingers clutching his hair, the fluttering of Kongpob's eyelashes as they tilted their head, everything was it. The moment he had never known would weaken his knees.
Kongpob's kiss was like the beating of a butterfly's wings, soft, enchanting, leading into yearning for more. It was a soft yet searing kiss, under the full moon. They nibbled and sucked onto each other's lips, kissing under the open sky. Taking it slow and feathery. Testing the unknown.
Kongpob sighed into the kiss, eyes closed. His fingers caressed the milky expanse of the elder's face.
They pulled away, in need of air, feeling giddy as well as the burn of what they had started. Slowly subsidising as they took deep breaths, resting their foreheads together. The cold night breeze calming the warmth that swept up their face.
Kongpob smiled, knowing Arthit was too. He had given it to Arthit. All his rights were opened for the elder. His face, his smile, his heart. He had given Arthit the right over himself in all literal senses.
"Ryan! Get inside the car, quick!" Neen called out as she dragged her suitcase.
Arthit stared down at the driveway, leaning on the veranda.
"I got to leave," Arthit turned to face Kongpob who stood by his side, the younger smiled softly nodding his head.
"Wait a few months for our wedding, there will be no need of making excuses about water." Arthit chuckled as he pointed at the glass of water Kongpob held as he walked back to his room, gathering his suitcase and bag.
"Our engagement is in 1 month 3 weeks and 5 days. It's that far," the elder pouted.
Kongpob giggled, watching the other walk around the room, checking if he had missed anything.
Arthit took his phone, raising it to show Kongpob, a dejected look on his face."Ultimately, I can't ask you to keep this phone with you so we could talk."
"Because you'll consider it inappropriate."
Kongpob chuckled, shaking his head when the elder winked at him.
"All day chat on the internet is costly. So, like the good boy I'm, I'll write you letters!"
The younger couldn't help but smile wider as Arthit spoke. The fact that Arthit was making efforts for them, to make conversations and stay in touch warmed up his insides. He felt wanted and valued.
"And yes! I'll dial you up on the ancestral black telephone at your house too!"
They shared a giggle, staring at eachother with soo much love. Eyes soft and shoulders relaxed.
Arthit gave a small smile, nodding his head he turned around. Walking out of the room.
Kongpob bit his lips, before he lost his courage he jogged towards the elder.
"Listen, P'Arthit."
Arthit halted on his steps, turning around to face the younger who stood a few feet away from him.
"Stay away from anything cold for a few days, you just got over a nasty cold." Kongpob's concerned gaze melted Arthit's insides, the bag over his shoulder slid down. A warm smile graced his lips as he stared at the charcoal orbs.
"Not even cold water," Kongpob added, biting his lower lip.
Arthit chuckled, tilting his head he gave his dimpled smile to the younger.
"Anything else?"
Kongpob took a few steps forward, closing the distance between them. He stretched out his hand, holding out the glass of water. A sigh left his lips when Arthit's fingers brushed over his as the other took the glass from him. Taking a few sips before returning it.
"Arthit hurry! We'll be getting late!"
Arthit took a deep breath, taking control over his muddled emotions. His eyes unwavering from the man in front of him. He turned around suddenly, knowing that he wouldn't be able to walk away if he kept staring at the hopeful dark pools of the younger. Letting the rational side of his brain take power he marched his way out.
Kongpob didn't waste a second as he followed the other downstairs, halting on his steps when Arthit jogged down the front stairs, walking along the driveway. A shaky breath left his lips as he leaned on the door frame, clutching onto the glass in his hand.
Arthit halted on his steps, his chest heaving as he tried to control the burn in his eyes. He turned around, spotting Kongpob leaning on the door, staring at him, eyes sparkling with tears.
His lips parted in a low gasp, his hazel eyes boring into the younger as Kongpob slowly raised the glass in his hand, the quivering lips pressed over it. Taking a long sip of water.
The thudding of his heart echoed in Arthit's ears as his lips broke into a tight smile, overwhelmed with everything. He turned around, finding himself go weak. His steps fastened towards the car, bidding goodbye to others he hurriedly got in. Trying to keep his emotions in control.
He realised Kongpob had a huge effect on him. Whether they're by each other's side or miles away.
When Aran started driving Arthit felt a pull in his chest. An unknown force knocked onto his thoughts. He went with his instincts, hurridly taking out the binocular from his bag.
Leaning over the car's window his eyes roamed over the house, a grin broke into his lips as he placed the binocular over his eyes. A satisfied sigh left his lips as his smile stretched wider.
The sight of Kongpob waving at him with the purest and beautiful smile adorning his face as he leans on the balcony will forever be etched in his heart. A sight that he's going to look forward to until he returns to hold Kongpob close to him.
"They're here!"
Decha smiled wide as he glanced at his family members who cheered out loud as they watched the Rojnapath family walking towards them.
Warmth swept through him as he stared at the family that was cheering and singing along as the procession continued. Witnessing the Rojnapath family clad in the traditional Thai clothes, carrying all the offerings that they had to bring to the other family. Each member carried trays of offerings, filled with young betel nuts and leaves. Silver and golden bags, various flowers that adds meaning to the ceremony and many more.
Their procession filled with high key traditional songs, accompanied by the loud sounds of the Thai long drums. The full ceremony was on swing. The beating of the drums was accompanied by quite a bit of dancing from the Rojnapaths and watching David and Aran giving their full into dancing to the beats made everyone laugh as they enjoyed.
The lively celebrations announce the groom's arrival all around the small town. Neighbours and family members were present to witness the engagement ceremony of Arthit and Kongpob.
"Your son-in-law is extremely handsome, Decha!" Decha couldn't help but smile wider at his relative's remark.
"Of course, he'll be! He's the son of the Rojnapaths! He's perfect for our Kongpob!"
Decha bit his lips, controlling his emotions. All the words of his relatives were making him feel at ease with the fact that they are accepting the new family, without any differences. And seeing Arthit, clad in a long-sleeved cream traditional royally bestowed shirt, accompanied with a dusty rose silk traditional pants, with a silver cloth waistband. With the younger male carrying the offering in the middle, laughing and singing along with the family and friends.
"Swadee Kharp, Uncle Decha, Aunt Maya." Arthit waied as the procession came to an end, the Rojnapath family stood in front of the front gate.
Decha stepped forward, keeping his hands on the younger's head as he blessed him.
"Welcome to our family, Arthit."
Decha glanced at his wife, nudged her shoulders he eyed her. With a sigh, Maya stepped forward imitating what her husband had done a few seconds ago.
"Bless you."
Maya stepped aside as she watched Decha go hug David, welcoming the groom's family and friends they were soon asked to walk further towards the house.
"Now it's the door ceremony. Arthit, son, you should pass all the ten chains that symbolize the gates for us to permit you to reach Kongpob." Decha patted the younger's should who took a deep breath and gave his dimple smile to him.
"He's watching over you from upstairs," he whispered in making Arthit chuckle.
"Go Arthit! You can do this!" Bright shouted from beside Aran, making everyone laugh.
"We're here with you! Go on!" Neen chuckled as she patted Arthit's shoulder.
Arthit nodded his head, he felt extremely nervous not knowing what to expect. He had only witnessed it during Aran's wedding and he was a part of doing the challenges with his brother according to the requests of the ladies, the gatekeepers, that held the chains.
Now, looking ahead he could see 10 chains, each held by two ladies or little girls. The strings were of five silver and five gold chains.
"I'm ready for this! Arthit makes it fast, I want to see my son-in-law as soon as possible!" David teased his younger son who turned towards him with a stare of betrayal.
All the family members cheered as Arthit walked forward towards the first set of silver chains held by two little girls, smiling wide at him.
The custom of refusing access and demanding more money or gifts in its playful manner was indeed entertainment for both the groom and the guests.
"Here you go little ones," Arthit kneeled in front of the girls, passing an envelope containing money to each of them. He ruffled their heads making them smile wide and wai at him before they moved to the side, earning cheers from the guests at crossing the first gate.
Crossing the first few gates were easier than expected for Arthit, he just had to give away the envelopes that contained money or gifts that they carried to the gatekeepers as if was mostly children who held it. But he did get asked to do 10 push-ups with his friends by one of them which he gladly did with Bright and Tootah whining at the fact that they had to exercise.
"Scream that you love P'Kongpob five times! Let the groom hear it!" The young girls who held the seventh string giggled as they pointed towards the second floor of the house, where Arthit knows Kongpob is watching over them.
"Give it your all Arthit!" Tootah shouted along with the guests who squealed, encouraging his friend who chuckled at their antics.
Arthit took a deep breath, clearing his throat he raised his head, staring at the open window at the second storey, he could see the shadow of the younger male from the white curtains. "I love you Kong!"
"Louder Khun Arthit!" The girls shouted back.
"I love you, my Kong!" Arthit shouted out loud with a wide smile as the guests screamed and squealed at the way he called Kongpob.
"Can you tell us what makes Kongpob special in your eyes?" One of Kongpob's aunts who held the chain asked with a teasing smile as the latter moved to the next gate.
Arthit nodded his head, a warm smiling decorating his lips. "Everything about Kongpob makes him special. There's nothing less or nothing beyond that makes him special to him. He himself is a gem that I had the privilege to treasure."
A warm smile took over the elder's lips as they heard Arthit speak. The youngsters and friends cooed and squealed at the answer.
"Sing us a song that reminds you of Kongpob!" The next set of ladies exclaimed."You can just sing the first few stanzas if you don't know the full song."
Arthit nodded his head, thinking for a second before a smile adorned his face.
Glancing nervously at the guests he took a deep breath, glancing up at the window.
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you
You'd be like Heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
At long last, love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you
Arthit's smile widened when he saw the side of the white curtain being gripped by a palm as the shadow leaned on the window frame.
Pardon the way that I stare
There's nothin' else to compare
The sight of you leaves me weak
There are no words left to speak
But if you feel like I feel
Please let me know that it's real
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you
"Go Arthit! Go! You did it man!" Arthit's friends shouted at the top of their lungs as the latter ended the song. Receiving huge rounds of applauses and giggles from the guests.
Taking a deep breath he watched the silver chain drop, making way for him to walk forward. Waing he made his way towards the last gate.
"What is something that Kongpob treasures?" One of the ladies asked with a soft smile on her lips.
"Family."
"How so?"
"I have seen it, the way he attends to everyone's comfort even before they could voice out. Kongpob always gave priority to his family and loved ones, helped them when needed, giving their comfort and happiness the priority than himself."
"Arthit! You passed!" Neen and Aran whistled as everyone cheered when the last gate was removed, giving access for the groom to walk past it.
"That was really something," Arthit took a deep breath, still filled with nervousness and excitement.
Soon Arthit was asked to stand on a wooden slate, the tradition of washing the groom's feet was done. A symbol of washing away not only the dirt but of past sins, and a cleansing process before embarking a step into a new life.
The Rojnapath family was then asked to come inside, the large living room of the house was set with new sofas on either side of the large table in between them and other items for the engagement ceremony. The offerings and other gifts the groom's family has brought was placed on the table.
Taking away the offering that Arthit had held, Decha replaced it with a bouquet of magenta lilacs and white roses.
"He's upstairs, in his room."
A wide grin graced Arthit's lips, he nodded his head frantically before waing and making his way upstairs with hurried steps earning teasing from his friends and family.
Arthit stopped in his tracks when he met Nai who was leaning on the closed door of Kongpob's room.
"Hey, there brother-in-law!" Nai reached forward to hug the latter which Arthit returned in equal enthusiasm.
"Impatient are we?!" Nai giggled as he pulled away, be could feel the excitement of the elder male just from staring at his face.
Arthit chuckled, scratching the back of his neck. "A little, I guess."
"Why are both of your answers the same?" Nai laughed.
"Ok! I'm not delaying it further! He's waiting for you inside! See you downstairs P'Arthit!" Waving at the elder Nai sprinted away, making hai way downstairs.
"Oh god! Give me strength!" Arthit took a deep breath before he reached over to grab the doorknob. His hands trembled as he twisted the knob, softly opening the door. His eyes were cast down as he stepped inside, holding his breath he looked up once he was inside the room.
"Hey."
Arthit gulped, the air he had held released out in an uneven set of breaths as his eyes widened, staring at his Kongpob.
"H-Hey," Arthit finally found his voice as he walked towards the younger male who was seated on the chair beside the window.
He knelt on one knee as he stood in front of the younger. A wide smile broke into each other's lips as Arthit handed over the bouquet to Kongpob.
"For you, my love."
Kongpob blushed, hiding his wide smile as he stared down at his lap. Gasping when he felt Arthit's hand rest on his knee.
His heart and body was frenzy after hearing all that Arthit had said earlier, downstairs. All these days they had relied on the occasional letters they would send eachother and the once in a while calls Arthit would make on the telephone. And now staring into the pool of hazel eyes, right in front of him, his emotions stirred once again.
A soft release of breath left the elder's lips as he reached his hand over to cup Kongpob's cheek. The soft, warm skin made Arthit feel the urge to glide his lips over it.
"You look beautiful." Kongpob looked up at the elder's whisper.
Arthit smiled back. The sight of Kongpob, clad in the traditional engagement outfits, just like his made his heart skip a few beats. Both of their attires were exactly the same, except for the fact that Kongpob's shirt was pure white with a red rose on the side of his chest.
"Thank you," Kongpob leaned over to place a tender kiss on the Arthit's forehead, earning a soft sigh from the latter. "You look extremely charming too, P'Arthit."
They giggled as they rested their foreheads together for a moment before they pulled away. Arthit stood up, placing his hand out for Kongpob to take it.
"As much as I want to stay with you in this room, alone, our engagement is taking place downstairs. I guess we're needed there?" Arthit pouted making the younger male laugh.
"Let's go," Kongpob giggled, nudging the other's shoulder. He smiled when Arthit held his hand tighter before they walked out of the room.
Their hearts hammered in each other's chests as they walked down the stairs. The chattering of the guests and the laughter of children echoed around the house.
"The couple has arrived!" Nai's squeal gained everyone's attention as they turned to face the couple that walked down the stairs with shy smiles on their faces.
David and Decha stepped forward, directing the couple towards the stage. With a tight press on their intertwined hands, the couple parted, taking seats on either side of the table beside their family who was seated on the sofa on the sides.
Once everyone was settled the official ceremony began, the two families exchanged greetings. Arthit's family handed over the offerings and gifts to the Suttilaks.
Arthit and Kongpob stole glances at eachother, smiling as they witnessed their family perform the ceremony.
"The Khan Maak Man should be passed on now." The eldest from the Suttilaks stood up, informing the guests.
Huge round of applause was given as the elders of the two families stood up, Arthit was asked to move to sit beside Kongpob on the other side. A large bowl filled with gifts and the dowry was offered to Decha and Maya, as the guardians of Kongpob, by David.
Maya gave a puzzled gaze at Decha at the amount of dowry they had received, the gifts along with it were quite expensive. But Decha didn't give a glance to his wife, planning to continue with the ritual with a smile on his face.
"That's too much," Kongpob gulped as he whispered, he felt uneasy with the amount of gifts and money that was on the tray.
"Trust me, it's not." Arthit's hand slipped over the younger's waist, pulling him closer. Sending a shiver down the younger, the place where Arthit's palm rested burned with warmth.
"But-"
"No Kong, it's the least we could give for taking away their prince with us after our marriage." Arthit smiled, his dimples in display, making Kongpob's fingers itch to poke it.
After the gifts and dowry accepted are placed onto a red silk cloth. As per the tradition the eldest of the Suttilak family and Decha, in the position of Kongpob's father, inspected the contents of the Khan Maak Man they had accepted. An act of counting the money was made before the silk cloth was tied around the gifts, making a bundle out of it.
The eldest Suttilak stood straight, giving a thumbs up with huge smiles as an indication of the dowry being accepted. The guests cheered as the two grooms were given the bundle on a gold plate.
Arthit and Kongpob held it on either side as Maya was asked to stand beside them. Since Kongpob's parents passed away Maya stood by them to carry the dowry in the position of Kongpob's mother.
Maya received it with a tight smile, nodding at Arthit politely as she carried it over her shoulder according to the tradition before placing it aside safely.
"All the elders and family members please gather for the tying the Sai Sin."
The table containing the gifts were moved to the side as the couple were made to sit on their knees in the middle. Their shoulders caressed as they stretched out their right hands.
David who stood beside Decha nudged the other to make his first move. Despite an initial argument of letting the other go first Decha finally gave in and walked towards the couple.
Kneeling in front of them he took two white threads, the Sai Sin, in his hands before tying them around their right wrists.
"Stay blessed, the bond you have created is soo special that I find myself repeating in my heart that this is it. That you both are in safe hands." Decha gave a teary smile, he leaned over to place a soft kiss on both of their foreheads.
Kongpob bit his lips, stopping himself from letting his tears fall. He was happy, overwhelmed and grateful for the love Decha had always provided him. His Lung gave him a family.
David took over Decha's place, he tied the strings on their wrists before reaching over to Kongpob and wiping his tears away with a warm smile on his lips. "We're all here for you both. I can say your love grow stronger as time passes. Soon both of you will tie the knot and embark on a new journey. I wish you all the happiness, sons."
The ritual carried on for another hour or more as all the family members and close friends tied the threads. Kongpob did feel disappointed at the fact that Maya had just tied the threads over their wrists and muttered a 'bless you' before walking away. Nothing more, nothing less. But the assuring smile Decha gave made him smile at ease.
Another chance he got from the ceremony was to get to know Arthit's friends. The elder male introduced them to him and Kongpob could say the group was indeed lively. He liked their presence even with the short time they spend talking. They bid byes with the promise of meeting again during the wedding.
When the Sai Sin ceremony was done the couple were asked to leave the threads on their hands for the next three days for their good luck and blessing.
It was already half past 2 in the afternoon by the time the ceremony was done. All the arrangements were made for the family to have their lunch.
The couple and their close family sat around the round table that was set in the backyard. Other tables settled close by for other members and friends of the family.
"The wedding will take place on 9th July. 6 months from now." Decha announced after Somsak informed him about the date the monk from the temple had passed to the latter.
"6 months is too long! But I accept," David sighed with a pout making the others chuckle.
"Sorry to say this Uncle Decha but we just want our Kong to come to Bangkok soon," Neen giggled and Decha laughed at the remark nodding his head.
Arthit glanced at Kongpob, he intertwined their fingers under the table. When the younger looked up he smiled warmly at him.
"6 months, I have to be patient," Arthit whispered making the other giggle.
The elder smiled warmly, staring at his giggling finance. His nose and eyes crinkled adorably as he smiled. "I'll miss you."
The smile on Kongpob's lips fell, he bit his lower lip. Arthit and his family were leaving after lunch, they have to reach back to Bangkok. The next time they would arrive at Chiang Mai will be at their wedding.
Kongpob stared down at their hands, his eyes lingering at the white threads. The first step to their wedding.
"But don't worry, I'll write you letters like last time." Arthit raised their palm, planting a soft kiss over it, making the other gasp.
Kongpob's charcoal eyes glazed with unshed tears as he looked up at Arthit. A whisper left his lips, "And make calls."
The elder chuckled, "Yes, and make calls. I will, I promise."
"I'll wait. Wait for you." Kongpob didn't mind that they were seated to have late lunch together and that people might see them being touchy, he leaned over to rest his head on Arthit's shoulder.
A tear slid down his eyes, the overwhelming warmth that emitted from the elder male and the soft caresses on his hair making him realise over and over again that this was true and that he and Arthit are going to get married.
Just 6 more months. They could wait, the long-distance was hard but the small period of not seeing eachother was worth the lifetime they're going to spend together.
