"we're making chicken curry and rice." Bakugo said as he laid out all the ingredients on the counter that he had gotten for the recipe.
y/n carefully examined each of the ingredients laid out before her, taking in the various components needed to prepare the dish. despite the recipe sounding quite simple to prepare, it called for a surprising number of elements, "we're using white rice right?" she asked.
Bakugo tilted his head slightly, then leaned against the counter slightly as he grabbed a bag of white rice from the cupboard, "does it matter?"
"yes, i don't like the texture of brown rice."
the crimson eyed boy shot a quick glance at the girl, then rolled his eyes in obvious frustration, "what does that even mean, texture doesn't matter as long as it tastes good." he stated as he washed the rice.
"so if you ate a meal with great taste but horrible texture you'd still like it?" y/n asked, her voice laced with skepticism.
Bakugo, who once again rolled his eyes, looked at her e/c eyes in exasperation, "yes, that's how it should be, flavor over texture any day." he said confidently; clearly he wasn't taking any other answer.
y/n frowned at the boy and took out a pan from the cupboard, "well clearly you're not a picky eater, texture had always been something that bothered me, whether it was the chunks of fruit in yogurt, or the way celery felt in my mouth. it's just always been something that bothered me, kind of like how some kids get bothered by a tag in their shirt or pants."
y/n expected at least some ounce of understanding from the boy even if it was a curt nod of the head, but as usual she shouldn't have expected him to be nice.
"that's dumb." he stated bluntly.
that earned him a series of hits on the back of his head.
"h-HEY, knock it off!" he yelled trying to swat away her hand.
"YOU WILL LEARN TO RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS, I DIDN'T WISH TO BE A PICKY EATER!"
Bakugo grunted and grabbed her wrist tightly, clearly annoyed and annoyed with her behavior and hitting, "ok ok!" he groaned in frustration,"just stop fucking hitting me!"
"i don't think i've ever seen Bakugo surrender so easily." a voice echoed from behind them slightly startling the already angry Bakugo.
he whipped his head around with a prominent scowl on his face to see Kaminari who almost instantly regretted his decision and ran behind Mina who was also with him.
"stop being a fucking pussy!" she yelled, shoving him away as she leaned against the counter with a wide grin, "soooo... what're you guys making?" she said wiggling her eyebrows suggestively seeing Bakugo's grip on y/n's wrists.
"yeah what're you guys cooking, it actually smells pretty good this time, unlike when Mina tried to make that cake." Kaminari said as he got back up from the floor only to be shoved down once again by Mina causing him to fall back onto the ground.
raising an eyebrow, y/n just laughed at her two friends, "Bakugo's teaching me not to be a bitch and try new foods." she stated nonchalantly as she tried to help wash the rice, only for her hand to be shoved away by Bakugo's.
ignoring the two's bickering, Mina picked up one of the spices on the counter reading the label out loud, "cumin, i think my mom uses this stuff a lot in her cooking."
Kaminari rubbed his head and looked at the label, "you mean cumin? (pronounced cum-in ๐Ÿ˜ญ)
even Bakugo looked at the golden haired boy with a look of disappointment.
"no that's not.." Mina rubbed her temples and sighed in frustration, "come on, we're going back to Kirishima."
Kaminari still as confused as ever quickly followed the girl his voice trailing off but still audible, with questions like, "it's pronounced that way, i swear!" and "Are you mad at me again?"
y/n giggled at the two students turning her attention back to Bakugo, "they're so funny."
"clearly you have no sense of humor." he said in an agitated tone, he then started to season the chicken with various spices. "go cut up some carrots for the curry, and remember to cut AWAY from yourself, i'm not taking you to the hospital if you cut your finger off."
y/n feigning offense rolled her eyes and pulled out the items that she needed. after a couple minutes of working she washed the carrots and set them in front of Bakugo, "did i do it right?"
Bakugo paused from cutting the chicken up and picked up one of the carrots which was cut very poorly, "what the fuck are these? did you cut them with your eyes closed?" he grumbled but then noticed a cookie cutter in her hand. "did you?..."
she stared at him for a second before looking at the cookie cutter in her hand, "can i not use this?"
Bakugo's eyes widened as grabbed the cookie cutter out of her hands, "how does this even happen?? i literally showed you how to cut something this morning and you do something like this?!," he took a moment to calm himself down, his fists clenched making his knuckled white, "no you can't cut carrots with a cookie cutter, or any vegetables for that matter."

as the evening wore on, the two worked diligently on the meal, each task a careful effortโ€”whether it was adding spices to deepen the flavor or chopping vegetables with precision, they focused on at least trying to get the food on a plate.
y/n admired the work they had done together, the steaming rice, the curry covered chicken that was probably too salty due to the fact that y/n nearly dumped a pound of it in the curry, but other than that it looked absolutely delicious.
"this was so much fun Bakugo! i can't wait to do it again, since tomorrow is the weekend we can spend the whole day cooking and baking together!" she said with enthusiasm, he honestly was surprised, before this point she seemed to almost try and actively avoid their cooking activities, but now she was looking forward to their next meal together.
"yeah whatever dumbass." he said bluntly, but his tone had a slight tinge of warmth.
he handed her a bowl, and she tasted the curry. the instant the flavors hit her tongue, her eyes lit up, and a soft smile tugged at his lips as he watched her. her cheeks puffed with food, her hair was a wild mess, and some flour on her shirt that she had spilt earlier thinking that it was an ingredient in the recipe.
"Bakugo... how has this been gate kept from me for my entire life." y/n asked still stuffing the home-cooked meal into her mouth. she was quick to absolutely demolish the food on her plate along with Bakugo who mixed some chili oil into his to make it hotter than it already was.
as she finished her bowl, face relaxed and eyes tired, she turned to look t him with a warm smile, "thank you, for cooking with me Bakugo."
the boy glanced over at her seeing her of sleepiness and a full belly of food nearly made him melt.
dammit why am i feeling like this?
"whatever you damn extra, its not like i had fun or anything." he grunted standing up to put both their bowls into the dishwasher.
and yet not even he could deny the small blush that appeared on his face.
