Way's voice was drowned out by the voice of someone Babe knew. He turned towards the sound, before realizing that Charlie had just run up the stairs panting. And other people seemed shocked to see him in disarray. Different from people who previously wore neat suits from head to toe. Plus she styled his hair. Charlie's change in appearance makes Babe forget himself for a moment.
"Follow me."
Charlie didn't mince his words, without greeting Way who was standing next to him, as a tall figure walked over and held his hand, helping him walk out through the back door of the VIP zone and leading him to the waiting room above. Rather than standing there as the focus of other people's attention to gossip.
And Way could only watch the back of his close friend in the arms of a tall young man disappear behind the door with eyes that were hard to read.
"Fuck."
Babe cursed under his breath, annoyed because his head was filled with the smell of alcohol. Even if Charlie found a cloth to wipe it with. This only helps reduce the wetness, doesn't make the smell unpleasant and the sticky feeling disappears completely.
"I like drinking, but that doesn't mean I want to shower in it" Babe grumbled as he repeatedly rubbed his hair and neck with a towel.
"So, you want to take a shower?" Charlie, who was standing behind him, asked.
"No, I don't want to shower here. I'd better wait to shower in my room."
Charlie didn't answer. He just stood there quietly looking at Babe's back facing the glass window, the other person didn't seem to be thinking about anything other than being annoyed at being doused with alcohol.
But in Charlie's eyes, he didn't think that the liquor was important to Babe at the moment.
"Are you okay?" The tall figure walked up to Babe and said in a calm voice.
"Okay, what the hell? Do you want me to take a shower and see?"
"I mean what did that person say?" Babe was surprised when he heard Charlie's question. Her beautiful face was still as smooth as before, and she chose to continue wiping herself calmly, without thinking about answering Charlie's question. "If you're not okay you can talk to me.
"Or if you want to cry, I will stay with you."
Charlie's words were very arrogant in Babe's eyes. Babe lowered the hand holding the towel to wipe his head, before turning to face the tall young man. He stared at the other person's face, while the person he was staring at just stood still, not saying a word. And even though today the Charlie in front of him was dressed nothing like the Charlie he knew, the innocent eyes behind the glasses still looked the same. It's not different at all.
"Don't act like you know!" Babe said quietly as he raised his fist to lightly hit his broad chest.
The little fist continued to pound on his chest. And it seemed to get stronger according to Babe's mood, but Charlie didn't even think about stopping anyone else. He just stood there and let Babe hit his chest because he knew that the pain in his body wouldn't be as painful as Babe's heart felt right now.
"You think you know me well?" Babe's voice sounded stronger. But at the same time, it feels very weak. "Do you think I will care about this matter? How could you say that I would cry because of being scolded by someone I don't know?"
"Does a stupid bastard like you have the right to look sorry for me?"
The force that pounded on Charlie's chest started lightly, then gradually increased in strength until his body shook with the force. And finally it gradually became softer, as soft as Babe's grumbling and cursing.
"If you think you'll see me cry, you're dreaming."
"I won't cry..."
The shaking voice ended with Charlie's hug pulling his body for cover even though he didn't ask for it. His slender hand was still holding the towel. Meanwhile, that beautiful face rested on the broad chest of the boy who was born many years later. But on the contrary, he was very happy because the young man hugged and comforted him when he cried.
"Yeah, I knew you wouldn't cry."
Charlie said in a soft voice. With warm palms that slowly rubbed Babe's head. He did it in silence, as if he didn't notice the soft sobs and tears falling on his chest, because he didn't think Babe would like it very much. If he said, he didn't see Babe crying
"I know you're upset because he poured alcohol on you," continued the young man in a calm voice. "Then, we can stay like this for a while."
"I will accompany you until you forget your anger."
After that, only soft sobs came from the people in his arms. But Charlie's only job now was to hug the other person, pat him gently on the head, and not say a word that would make Babe feel uncomfortable. Even though in his heart, he had many words he wanted to say. But he chose to save it for now, because it might not be the right time.
Charlie's thoughts were currently on Babe. He kept thinking that if he had come to him sooner, something like this might not have happened. He shouldn't have let the people there hold him back this long. At least if he was there, he wouldn't let that guy talk bad about Babe like this.
The guy didn't know anything, but said those words as if he knew everything about Babe. How could he say that Babe became what he was today just because he was born a rich man's son? That bumbling bastard didn't even know what Babe was going through. A person who almost starved to death but was saved by a rich man.
Listening to it sounded like luck, like a reward had fallen upon him. But in reality, who would have thought that Babe wouldn't take part in the race because he had enough money to buy a supercar worth tens of millions? Babe started racing using cheap Japanese cars from a used car repair shop with monthly installments, because after leaving that house in high school, he had no money at all. The only thing Babe knows is that if he can win the competition, he will earn a huge amount of money. Enough cash to support himself at that age. And Babe tries everything to get the former captain of X to accept him into the team, even though he doesn't have a car yet.
The car that Babe used years ago to compete against the number one team was borrowed from the team captain. It is the cheapest and lowest specification car in its class. And if Babe loses the game, he must return his vehicle and leave the team immediately.
But it just so happened that Babe won that day.
Until finally he became the Pit Bebe he is today.
Since this is so annoying, what right does that person have to think that he can belittle other people's efforts? In his opinion, why could he think he knew better than him? Even though in his head there were only guesses.
The fact that Babe had been cared for by that man for years may have given him something that many people never had the chance to accept. But if it was said that Pitbabe became King because of his father's money, he would deny it wholeheartedly.
His idol is much better than that.
Babe is the best. He was talented in ways that losers couldn't compare to.
"P'Babe" Charlie softly called to the person in his arms after feeling like the sobs had subsided for a while.
"Ugh" Babe's muffled, nasal voice was good evidence that the other person had literally just finished crying, and he hoped he never had to see Babe cry for this reason again.
"Do you still want to go for a walk?"
Even though his head still smelled of liquor, Babe chose to nod as a light answer, meaning going for a walk with him would make other people feel better than going back to the room to take a shower.
"Do you still smell of liquor?"
"Yeah, it looks like you're drunk too."
Babe sighed softly at Charlie's sincere answer. But even though the smell of alcohol on his body was a bit disturbing, he judged that the current atmosphere was not good at all.
The white Ferrari they borrowed from Way tonight looked quite useful. Because the roof was open, they could lie down and look at the stars quietly without having to stand up. The soft pillow is perfect for taking someone on a date to a quiet place. Just the two of them.
But that doesn't mean what Babe and Charlie are doing right now is dating.
"Is it normal that there are always so many stars here?" Charlie asked while looking at the sky casually.
"I don't know. I've never been here at night."
"I don't think you've ever asked anyone out here."
"You asked me, I won't ask you out."
"Yes, I believe..."
Charlie's smooth reply made Babe chuckle, it was true he had never been there at night before, as he thought it might not be his style. Even though it was not far from the race track and his friends often camped here because it was peaceful and cool, he always refused because he didn't think sleeping in a tent would be as comfortable as sleeping in a bed.
"So, shall we try it?" Bring Babe.
"It means?"
"Let's do it."
"Even doing it in bed is difficult. Please don't try to cause more pain."
Babe is upset because he was suddenly rejected. And no matter how stubborn he wanted to be, he was able to judge for himself that having sex in a car under these conditions was probably not a good idea. His body wasn't ready to do it normally. Hence, he had to put the idea aside.
But if you go out and don't do anything. Isn't this more like a real date?
"Why are you dressed like this today?" Babe asked after they lay in silence for a while.
"There is a little work at home. So you have to dress neatly."
"At home? Wearing a suit like this?"
"My dad is pretty neat. If I have something to do, I have to wear a suit." Charlie answered in a calm voice. "Dressing like this, it looks strange, right?"
"Oh, yeah. It doesn't seem like you at all," Babe answered honestly. He had to admit, the first time he saw Charlie in a full suit like this, he felt like this wasn't the Charlie he knew at all. If it weren't for those innocent eyes and awkward attitude, maybe he thought Charlie was someone else.
But having said that, Babe will have to get used to it when he gets home. Charlie seemed to have to act more neat and serious than usual. With this whole suit and the perfume he was wearing today, if he had seen him from the start, he would have thought this kid probably came from an upper-class family.
Now he was starting to feel like this wasn't right. From his experience of living in a house with rich people, what Charlie did seemed quite in line with their habits. So now he thought maybe Charlie was a bad kid who ran away from home like him, because as far as he could see, he didn't think Charlie would get along with the people in the house at all.
"I don't like it either. I like to dress normally."
"But did you know that the more you dress like this, the more like my bodyguard you are?"
"Or should I dress like this from now on? So that other people won't dare to mess with you."
"Every day seeing you with me, no one dares to mess with me, that's enough" Babe's mouth curled slightly as Charlie laughed happily. It seems like he acts like Babe's bodyguard too often, causing other people to be a little afraid to approach Babe. But that shouldn't be a problem. After all, keeping Babe safe is of the utmost importance.
"So that's not good? You're safe with me, right?"
"Oh that's good!" Babe answered casually "Recently, I feel like my senses are not good. I don't know what's wrong."
"Maybe you're stressed?"
"I don't know, but this has been going on for quite a while."
Charlie turned to look at the side of Babe's face with a feeling he couldn't explain. Maybe there were too many feelings piled on top of each other, but overall it felt a bit worrying that Babe's abilities would suddenly decrease like this.
"Now, whoever is following me, I don't know. I have to smell it carefully to find out what it smells like. When you showered in my room, I couldn't sleep because the sound of the water in the bathroom was so deafening. But these days, even though you wake up and shower first, I sleep soundly as usual."
"And do you want to go back to normal?"
"I don't know" Babe answered. The other person's face looked like he was thinking about what exactly he wanted it to look like. "Actually, the advantage is that I can understand things faster than other people. Like when there's danger, I'll know about it first."
"But sometimes it's annoying. Because I know too much, I can find out things I don't need to know. So it's annoying."
"So now I think it might not be a problem. Besides, you're with me a lot."
"Now you are faster than me."
Charlie smiled slightly when he heard that. If Babe sees it, it doesn't matter. He can be trusted because Babe's safety is his job.
"Yes, sir, you don't need to worry at all. If something happens, I'll take care of it before you know it" said the child in a cheerful voice like a child who promised his mother that he would be a good child for a whole week or something.
"But today you let that bastard throw alcohol at me."
"Sorry, I really didn't arrive on time."
Babe laughed at Charlie's wry smile. He also felt strange because now he found the boy's stupid face less annoying. At first, he was irritated by whatever he did, Charlie also seemed clumsy and he didn't pay attention to it. But now he often felt lonely and annoyed because he hadn't seen the child's face for a long time, and at that time he felt like he was at his craziest. This gentle face made him very cold.
Saying this made him remember the time he jumped out of the car during the race. At that time, he almost fainted. But when he heard Charlie's voice, he felt like he couldn't lose consciousness yet. If he fainted, Charlie would definitely cry, especially when he opened his eyes and looked at the stupid child's face with tears streaming down his cheeks like that. Strangely, the pain in his body seemed to be lessening. Maybe he was so upset by the tantrums and crying that he forgot about the pain.
"Charlie," Babe called softly to the boy.
"Yes?"
"When you said you would be king in my place..."
"You have to do it."
Babe suddenly said that matter-of-factly, but the relaxed expression on his face and the way he looked at the twinkling stars in the sky made Charlie realize that Babe really meant it. Maybe it might be a matter of prestige. And sometimes he felt like there was something more to it. But whatever the real reason was, he was determined to do as he said.
Although it was much faster than expected.
But someday he'll have to be like Babe.
"Yeah," Charlie answered with a smile. "I'm starting to get better. I'm going back to training."
"Actually, you can practice from now on. I'll have Way prepare it for you."
"No, I'd rather train with you."
"How can a student choose his teacher?" Babe chuckled. He thought Charlie didn't want to train with Way because the two of them weren't that close. Even though he knew Way wasn't thinking anything, a child who was often scared like Charlie wouldn't feel at ease. "With so many things like this, when will you be good at it?"
"If you teach me, anyway, I'll master it."
"But I don't have the money to pay you tuition..."
"You don't need to give it to me. What I got today is very valuable."
Babe turned to look at the young man lying beside him before discovering that it was someone else lying there, staring at him in the first place. Charlie smiled a little, looking at him like he always did. He didn't know how that kind of smile was called. Maybe it's admiration or goodwill, or maybe it doesn't mean anything special. It's just that this child is a stupid child who always smiles.
And strangely he secretly hoped to see this stupid smile for a long time.
When he saw that, Babe smiled back. The stupid boy seemed to have his sympathy. Charlie leaned slightly, before leaning towards the person sitting in the driver's seat. A big hand gently cupped that beautiful face, and then kissed it gently. He simply pressed his lips to his partner's, grinding them gently, calmly and without violence. Because that's the feeling he most wants to convey to Babe right now.
Only a few seconds had passed, Charlie broke the kiss. The tall figure gently stroked the older man's clear cheek with a smile before sitting back in his own chair as usual. Meanwhile, Babe, who was following the action, felt something strange appearing in his heart. Just when he saw Charlie looking at him with a smile like that, he suddenly thought that kissing was not enough.
When he thought about it like this, Babe didn't hesitate to encourage himself. He didn't make the mistake that Charlie did just now. And of course, that includes kissing. They both closed their eyes and gave each other the kiss they wanted. But the strange thing was that no one thought to attack like they always did. They were just touching each other on the outside, it was the softest, most lasting, most incredible touch they could ever remember.
And even though he had pulled away, Babe still found it strange.
Charlie bent down and rested his head on Babe's shoulder, while Babe just sat quietly, letting his tall figure rest on the slope of his shoulder without any defense, because at this moment he felt unconscious, as if the smell of alcohol covering his body made him drunk. His heart was pounding like never before. It was so fast that he felt it was too tiring. He will hyperventilate. Plus, his face felt hot until it spread to his ears. It looked like he was drunk, but he wasn't. It doesn't matter whether he has a fever or not.
What is this?
Why is it suddenly like this?
No matter how hard Babe tried to relax his breathing, the lump in his chest still kept pounding like that and wouldn't stop. It was so loud and powerful that he was afraid that Charlie, who was lying on his shoulder, would hear it. The slender hand then quietly raised itself to rest on his chest, as if ordering him to stop being a nuisance.
The silence that enveloped him made Babe feel even more hopeless. He thought Charlie was just lying on his back like no one else, but he couldn't take it anymore. This strange symptom does not go away. And why is he the only one like this? Did Charlie not feel anything at all?
When in doubt Babe needed to find out, his other slender hand that was still free slowly reached out in front of Charlie's face, before he placed it on his broad chest, where he thought that was where the other's heart resided and soon after touched the entire palm of his hand. He realized that he wasn't the only one experiencing this feeling.
Charlie's heart was also beating fast.
It was beating as fast as his heart.
Even if he wanted to know, when he found out, he didn't behave properly. Babe was silent for a moment, startled by the unfamiliar feeling. The slender hand that was pressed against Charlie's chest moved to pull him because he felt that it was getting strange, but before Babe could take his hand back, Charlie, who had previously been sitting still, suddenly raised his hand and grabbed his wrist, before taking it and returning it to its original position.
"How do you feel about it?" Charlie asked softly. The other person's voice sounded perfectly normal, while Babe felt like he was going to lose his mind. "Is it beating as fast as yours?"
Babe didn't know what to answer.
He really didn't know.
"Why is it like this?" Babe asked in a soft voice. That doesn't sound like normal behavior for someone like Pitbabe.
"I don't know," Charlie continued to answer calmly. "Have you ever been like this before?"
"And have you?"
"Never."
"Is it true?"
"Yeah, this is the first time."
If it's Charlie's first time, he may be desperate to seek answers from someone else. But if this was really the first time, why was Charlie still so calm? Why isn't he nervous? Doesn't he think that it's strange at all?
"But this isn't my first time," Babe said after beating his own heart for a while.
"Is it true?"
"Yes"
"So, when was your first time?" Charlie asked like a child who was curious about everything. "And who is the person who makes you beat like this when you are with him?"
If the feeling now and the feeling he remembered were the same feeling would it be that weird?
"I felt this way when I first realized that I liked racing cars."
His heart, which was already beating very fast, pounded even faster when he said those words. He found it both strange and embarrassing. But at the same time, he was irritated by Charlie's constant silence. The other person didn't say anything.
"Charlie..."
"But I only felt like this when I met you."
There he is. Just one sentence that came out of Charlie's mouth made Babe feel like the door in his heart was open. The dust and cobwebs stuck to the door were swept away, before a bright light came out from inside.
Babe grabbed Charlie, who was leaning on his shoulder, and made him sit up straight. He then sent one of his plaster-covered hands to cup the young man's cheek and then lowered his lips to kiss him for the third time since they arrived here. He kissed and sucked it slowly, because in this situation his heart was not calm and too much force could make him dizzy and faint. This kiss alone had made him so bad that he could barely hold it in.
If the stars were watching, would they know the difference between this kiss and the previous one?
"Charlie..."
Babe's voice calling Charlie was very soft. The reason is, their faces are only a few centimeters apart.
"Yes?"
"This is our first kiss."
And even though the stars didn't know any better, he hoped the stupid kid would understand why he called this kiss as their first kiss.
