The bodyguards, wielding electric batons, chased after them in a hurry. "Don't run! Get your ass over here!"
Jasper dashed ahead. "The door's over there."
Xander rushed to the front and stepped back a few steps after turning the corner. "There are people ahead, we're surrounded."
Laura furrowed her brows, calmly surveying her surroundings, and suddenly spotted a storage room for experimental supplies.
She pointed to it. "Hide in here."
Jasper quickly turned the lock. "Locked."
Zayn calmly pulled him aside and said, "Let me handle it."
He took out an outdoor tool from his pocket, extracted the thinnest auxiliary tool, and inserted it into the lock. With a click, the door opened.
He coldly tossed his head and said, "Come in."
Jasper was stunned.
Everett was left dumbfounded.
Xander was also amazed.
Laura said, "Wow, Zayn, you're amazing!"
The group hurriedly entered the laboratory and decisively locked the door.
Jasper looked at Zayn in shock. "How could you pick a lock? What did you do before your father took you home?
Zayn remained expressionless. "I was transferred to several other orphanages. I didn't like those places, so I picked locks and ran away."
Laura furrowed her brows. "Zayn, you've had it tough."
Zayn's gaze fell lightly on her. "If I hadn't done that, maybe I wouldn't have met you."
He was sent to Laura's rundown orphanage as a troubled child.
Laura chuckled at his words. "Then you weren't that miserable after all."
Zayn's deep eyes flashed with tenderness, but he maintained his serious expression. "So I don't see picking locks as something embarrassing."
Laura smiled with delight. The more she looked at him, the more pleasing he seemed.
Zayn was her coolest friend.
Jasper frowned. "Stop flirting and focus on finding a way out. We're trapped here."
Laura was taken aback, listening to the commotion outside the corridor. "We can wait for Phoenix to come to rescue us."
Xander interjected, "Rather than relying on others, why don't we rely on ourselves? Don't we have a bunch of chemicals here?"
Laura looked at him, surprised.
Xander stood tall in front of a pile of storage items, pushing his glasses up. "Perhaps we can use a chemical reaction to do something."
Everett patted his forehead. "Sulfuric acid."
Zayn slapped the back of his head. "Nonsense! We're trying to escape, not harm anyone."
Everett winced and held his head. "Ouch! Of course, I won't use sulfuric acid, but we can use water to pretend it is sulfuric acid and scare them."
Laura nodded eagerly. "I'm the best at acting. Let me handle it."
Xander's voice was serious. "Thank you for volunteering, but that won't work."
He scanned various chemical substances with sharp eyes. "They're not fools, and they're familiar with this place. They must know whether there is sulfuric acid or not."
As he spoke, his gaze locked onto a certain spot. "Hydrogen peroxide, when mixed with a catalyst like potassium iodide, decomposes into water and oxygen. When a large amount of oxygen meets soap solution, it forms foam, also known as the famous chemical experiment Elephant Toothpaste."
Laura nodded repeatedly, pretending to understand. "Oh, I totally didn't get that."
Xander was speechless.
Xander looked at the hydrogen peroxide in front of him. "Let's find lab coats to wear. I'll calculate the ratio, and you guys prepare the experimental equipment."
Without hesitation, Laura jumped off the table, raising her hand in a childish manner. "Yes, sir. What should I do?"
Xander replied, "Sit on the table and wait, don't move."
Laura blinked in confusion.
The bodyguards outside couldn't find anyone. 'They were there just a moment ago. Do the kids vanish into thin air?'
They looked around the rooms. "They must be hiding in one of these rooms."
The captain's face turned cold. "Search. If there are no keys, break the locks. Locks can be replaced, but we must find the children."
They immediately started searching.
The captain, Alex, strode directly to the laboratory door and turned the handle.
It wouldn't budge.
He immediately pulled out his gun, ready to shoot the handle off, but then he saw the handle turn slightly and the door opened.
Alex took a few steps back. Laura, wearing an ill-fitting protective suit, looked at him through the crack in the door. "Sir, we'll go with you."
Alex was puzzled. "Why suddenly obedient?"
Laura lowered her head, looking pitiful. "We've thought about it. Hiding isn't a solution, so we've decided to cooperate."
Slowly, she walked out with her hands raised in surrender, approaching Alex.
Alex looked at her in confusion.
Zayn, Everett, and Jasper also raised their hands and walked out of the room wearing protective suits.
Xander came out dragging a rope, looking listless.
A glimmer of interest flashed in Alex's eyes. "Are you kids wearing protective suits because you think you can escape our pursuit?"
The adults laughed heartily, mocking them, "Kids are naive."
Alex smirked, his gaze landing on Xander. "What are you holding?"
Xander met his mocking gaze with a blank expression. "A contraption."
"Contraption?" Alex looked puzzled.
Xander smiled faintly, then suddenly pulled the rope tight in his hand.
Alex was taken aback, looking into the room, only to see a large bucket on top of the tall experimental equipment suddenly overturning, pouring an unknown liquid into a large iron barrel in the middle.
In an instant, pink foam erupted like a volcano, surging towards the doorway.
Alex exclaimed, "Run!"
Everett carried Laura and ran, followed closely by Zayn and Jasper. But the adults couldn't dodge in time and were instantly engulfed by the foam. "Damn it!"
"It's so hot!" they screamed.
Laura, wide-eyed and startled, leaned against Everett's shoulder, watching the gush of pink foam as if it were a dreamlike scene of clouds and mist.
The pink foam engulfed several people.
Someone tried to chase her but slipped and fell flat on their face.
The corridor was in chaos.
Xander took off his protective helmet and glanced sideways at her. "Is it beautiful?"
He deliberately chose pink.
Her eyes sparkled. "Is this the elephant toothpaste? It looks like foam fireworks."
Xander nodded. "Yes, a simple experiment."
She couldn't take her eyes off. "When I grow up and study chemistry in the future, I will definitely remember this day."
Xander looked at her.
Laura smiled and said, "Elephant toothpaste is a foam firework made by my brothers together. I will never forget it. Thank you."
Xander's heart trembled, his cheeks even hotter. He turned away in embarrassment and smiled, then managed to stay cool.
Zayn looked at Laura dissatisfiedly and pinched her mouth. "Shut up!"
Laura was confused. 'Did I say anything wrong?'
They hurried past Yvonne, who was trying to chase after them, and then looked back and saw the adults at the laboratory door slipping and unable to get up.
Yvonne's mouth twitched. "Elephant toothpaste?"
'I'm right not to pursue them just now.
'These lunatics even made elephant toothpaste to protect themselves,' Yvonne thought.
