Yvonne clutched these girls as she ran. "We can't solve it anymore, we have to hide away."
These girls were fearful, as they rapidly nodded in agreement. "Let's hurry away. We're no match for them, better to stay hidden."
It was all too frightening. They could pull off experiments and their body was strong.
Reaching the entrance, Everett turned to Laura. "Shall we head out now?"
Laura pondered the time for a moment. "We've not heard from Phoenix yet. Shouldn't we check on her?"
Affirmed with a nod, brimming with energy, Everett carried Laura on her back and bolted towards the rooftop.
By this time, Carol had managed to recover from the electric shock, weakly gasping for air while leaning against the wall.
No wonder Joshua turned mad from being shocked by her. The pain was indeed intense.
Carol looked expectantly at her assistant, "Have the kids been caught?"
With a serious expression, the assistant shook his head and presented the tablet to show her the feed, "These children created an elephant toothpaste, completely overwhelming the bodyguards. Our lab personnel are not trained in self-defense. They were no match for Everett so we didn't win."
Carol thought, 'Not even able to handle a sixth-grade kid? They are so useless!' Carol grabbed the tablet to watch the scene.
Carol saw that the children meticulously set their traps. While making the elephant toothpaste, Xander was even calculating the formula.
Carol was infuriated by the scene.
Carol adjusted back to the live feed. Laura and her companions were already making their way to the rooftop.
Standing up decisively, Carol snarled, "These turds can't even catch a few kids. I'll do it myself."
Laura arrived at the control room on the rooftop. Two bodyguards were sprawled on the floor, seemingly knocked out by Phoenix's ferocious beating.
With extreme care, Laura pushed open the door to find the room overrun with people. Phoenix, in a white lab coat, stood in the middle of the control panel, scratching her head in frustration, "How do I do this thing?"
Laura blinked and stepped in, "You haven't got it open yet?"
Phoenix was surprised and happy to see Laura, "How did you get here? Did you evade those people?"
Laura nodded and rushed to her side, "What's wrong with you?"
Frowning in annoyance, Phoenix admitted, "In fact, there's not even a USB port here. I can't do it."
Without any hesitation, Laura approached the control panel. Indeed, there was no USB slot. But that didn't mean a virus couldn't be introduced.
Laura pulled out the keyboard and with skilled, little fingers, began to type rapidly, logging into a hacker website.
On the hacker's homepage, a bunch of the internet users were lingering in the chat lobby. Here was the chatroom of the League of Legends.
[Rabbit is coming online,]
NyanCat asked: [Is Rabbit coming online?]
DogeCoinKing replied: [What? Rabbit is coming online after almost a month!]
LokiTrickster said: [Rabbit, are you coming for the game now? I'll come to be with you right now!]
PixelPainter said: [Rabbit, our Cyberpunk superstar, has finally logged in. Knot, you better show up. Your goddess has arrived.]
Tyson sat in front of his computer, slurping down his takeout spaghetti, when he saw a bunch of people calling him out in the chatroom. He scrolled his mouse wheel up, his eyes suddenly locking onto a name on the screen. 'Laura is online?'
He wanted to say hello but thought, 'Is that too obvious?'
He bit his lower lip with a spark of inspiration, and he started to type out his greeting.
Knot said: [?]
Others all replied: [?]
NyanCat said: [From the enigmatic question mark sent by Knot, I sensed his longing to speak with Rabbit. Yet shy to start a conversation, he resorted to a lone question mark to convey his central thoughts.]
PixelPainter said: [Aren't you thinking too much? Our top player, Knot, why would he want to talk to Rabbit?]
NyanCat replied: [You know what? Knot is cool and has never spoken one word till now. This time it's a question mark and next time, it'll be actual words.]
Knot replied: [...]
PixelPainter was surprised to say: [God! He spoke. It's six dots this time.]
Tyson was speechless and thought, 'I just wanted to say something to Laura. Even the spaghetti lost its flavor.'
Suddenly, a private message alerted with Tyson.
Rabbit said: [Hello, may I borrow your virus for a spin? Send it to me right now to snatch the data here and I'll come back later to purchase the antidote from you. But you can only give it to me, okay?]
Tyson was surprised and thought, 'She came to me.'
Tyson nearly spilled his spaghetti. Hesitating for a moment, he replied: [OK.]
Laura was thrilled: [Thank you so much. Please send it over, but could you promise not to open the file?]
Tyson thought, 'If I were a bad boy, I would open it. But I wasn't.'
Without hesitation, he replied: [I won't open it, but you mustn't ask anyone else. They will definitely take a look.]
Laura replied: [Yeah. I knew that. So I came directly to you. I trust a top player like you would keep his word. Thank you. I'll compensate you for your help.]
Tyson didn't say another word but sent over a link.
Laura clicked, and her screen went dark in an instant.
Suddenly, the door was kicked open.
Carol burst into the room with a ferocity that could silence the storm, "Laura, I almost fell for your trick. We don't have USB ports here and your drive can't plug in. You can't release any virus."
Laura looked at her and asked, "Are you sure about that?"
Pointing at the screen, Laura declared, "It's already started."
Carol's pupils shrank suddenly and she signaled to shut it down, "Come on! Turn off the computers."
Her bodyguards sprang into action.
Just then, a deep male voice resounded, "Stop."
Carol shuddered, turning around.
Joshua stood holding a gun and said to Carol, "Hands up and squat on the ground."
Carol sharply inhaled, while her bodyguard, flustered.
Carol mocked, eyeing the muzzle, "Do you think you can scare me with that gun? Are you kidding me?"
Joshua shifted the gun aim to the ground.
Carol shuddered all over.
With firmness in his eyes, Joshua pressed the gun to her forehead, "Do you believe it now?"
Carol looked at him in astonishment yet calmly, "I can give Jasper and Zayn to you right now. Leave Laura to me, and the rest of you can go."
Joshua's lips curled scornfully while the gun was still at her forehead, "I came to rescue Laura. You keep them, give me Laura."
Xander, Everett, and Jasper were all confused.
They exchanged glances, asking, "Uncle Joshua, do you need us to disappear right here and now?"
Joshua, in frustration, "No need, you're the bonus in rescuing Laura, a buy-one-get-four deal."
Zayn, Everett, Jasper, and Xander were all silent and said to Laura, "We are grateful for you." Laura didn't know what to say.
