Laura looked at Albert in bewilderment. "But are you sure you can manage this?"
Albert calmly assured her with a glance. "If I say I can do it, then I can do it. I'm starting the group now."
He opened Twitter and put up a post clumsily: [Hello everyone, I'm Laura's grandpa. I'm looking to start a Laura fan club. Anyone interested in joining?]
Almost immediately, several comments popped up beneath the post.
Albert, surprised and excited, clicked to read them.
The comments, however, weren't quite what he expected: [LOL, Laura has grandpa fans now? This is hilarious!]"
[Learned something new today! Next time I'm starting a fan club. I'll pose as Laura's grandpa too!]
[Dude, this isn't cool. We already have a support group for Laura. Using your status as an elder is not fair.]
[You sure know how to draw attention!]
[LOL, the official fan club better sort this out. This is clearly a scam!]
Albert was flustered, thinking to himself, 'Why do they think I'm a scammer?'
He leaned close to Laura and started a video selfie. "Laura, say hello to everyone."
Caught off guard by the selfie, Laura reflexively smiled and greeted, "Hello, everyone."
Albert didn't show his face, just revealing a snippet of his suit.
He sent the message with a video added: [Does this make it believable now?]
The comment section went quiet for a moment.
[Did you kidnap our Laura? Tell us!]
[Where did you get this video!? Are you really related to Laura, or are you just trying to make money off of us?]
[Dude, is this some AI face swap? If you really want to join a fan group, we can give you the link. No need to go to such lengths.]
Albert, bewildered by the misunderstanding, could only sigh.
Beside him, Ambrose couldn't help but laugh at the spectacle.
Hahahaha!
It wasn't just hard to be recognized as Laura's grandpa. It seemed becoming her top fan was going to be an equally daunting task.
He was in stitches.
The next morning, while it was still dim, Laura was quietly returned to the military barracks by Bert.
When the door knocked, Laura opened her eyes, and she saw a cameraman lifting his camera.
Groggy and disoriented, she looked around, slowly coming to her senses.
Bert helped her get dressed and, with a gentle smile, teased, "Laura, aren't you going to say good morning?"
Sitting up in bed, her hair a tousled mess, she looked into the camera and smiled sheepishly. "Good morning, everyone."
Bert chuckled affectionately, feeling as if he was dealing with his own daughter, and helped her off the bed. "Go wash up. I need to stand guard."
The comments exploded with enthusiasm: [Good morning, Laura.]
[The first rays of the morning sun are all for Laura! We love you!]
[Did you guys see the way that trainee daddy looks at Laura? So indulgent!]
[I've been meaning to say this, but I totally approve of this handsome soldier.]
[Are you guys over Daddy Robert? Because I'm all for Daddy Robert!]
[Wait, why do they both have the last name Yale? Are they related?]
[LOL, what are you talking about? Laura's family members are either rich or Nobel. None of them are in the military.]
[It's a pity. If only Laura had such relatives, it would be perfect.]
[Stop it. Laura is perfect enough.]
[When will Laura apologize to our idols? When will she apologize?]
[Laura isn't going to apologize, right? Laura isn't going to apologize, is she?]
[Why are you all starting the day with such negativity? Why should our Laura apologize? Just because of Evan?]
[After yesterday's surveillance incident, Laura just casually slanders our idols. Now, she thinks a simple 'good morning' will smooth everything over? If spreading rumors is that easy, I could do it too.]
[I'll say it again. Laura definitely didn't spread any rumors. For all we know, the surveillance footage could have been deleted by someone. Can't you see how disappointed Laura is?]
[Can't see it. Your Laura is an actor who's famously good at it. Pretending is nothing new for her, right?]
[Girls, don't bother with these fools protecting their idols without using their brains. Let's just sit back and wait for them to be proven wrong. I believe Laura would never lie or deceive.]
After brushing her teeth, Laura walked with the production team towards the cafeteria.
Outside, the dads were still standing at attention.
She paused to watch.
The early morning sun bathed the scene in a pleasant glow, a gentle breeze carrying the coolness of early autumn. Bert stood tall and at ease like a sturdy tree, unlike the other dads who seemed to struggle with the discomfort.
Suddenly, Bert noticed her.
Her face lit up, and she waved energetically. "Daddy!"
Bert couldn't help but smile as a response.
Evan, witnessing the scene, rolled his eyes in annoyance.
Last night, he'd checked his phone and discovered that he and Laura were neck and neck in online support rates.
He knew he had to do something to increase his popularity and get back at this kid.
After Laura had eaten, the dads finally finished their drill and entered the cafeteria to eat.
All except Bert seemed visibly tired, each supporting their backs with their hands.
Laura watched them closely.
The staff from the production team approached and asked, "Do you think being a dad here is hard?"
Laura nodded seriously, while Bella responded with a bright smile, "It's tough, but it's fun."
The staff explained today's task, "Today, the dads will continue to learn how to be soldiers, but you kids need to run errands for them. We will give each of you 4 dollars to buy ingredients for their lunch. You can buy anything, just for the main dish. We've got the seasonings covered."
The dads looked surprised.
Were the kids really being sent shopping?
Bella and Shawn readily agreed while Aaron and Phil appeared hesitant, "But we don't know how to shop."
Shawn confidently stepped forward. "No worries. If you don't know how, we can help. Bella and I will show you."
Laura also raised her hand eagerly. "I know how to shop too."
Everyone turned to look at her in surprise.
Derrick teased her, "Laura knows shopping. Aren't you just in preschool?"
Laura proudly placed her hands on her hips. "I've learned!"
Derrick and Carter chuckled, turning to Bert. "Trainee daddy, how does it feel having such a daughter?"
Bert, usually stoic, softened his expression as he saw Laura's enthusiastic response. "Feels pretty lucky."
The group laughed. "Indeed, she may be young, but she's surprisingly reliable."
The staff handed each child twenty dollars. "You need to shop alone for your dad. You must split up."
Aaron, clearly disappointed, timidly asked, "Does it have to be this way? What if I get lost, won't my dad sue you?"
The staff reassured. "You won't get lost. Our cameraman will follow you. Don't worry."
The children looked at each other, their confidence wavering.
Even the usually confident Bella and Shawn felt a bit uneasy.
The staff added, "If you don't want to go, that's okay. But then your dads won't have lunch."
Everyone quickly changed their minds. "We want to go, we all do."
The staff happily led them away. "Then let's go, say goodbye to your dads."
The children reluctantly bid farewell to their dads.
Laura grabbed Bella's hand, turned her head towards Bert and shouted, "Daddy! I'll bring back meat for you. You have to stay safe at home. Don't go off with strangers."
Bert looked puzzled.
