Jessica couldn't believe the messages just kept coming in.
Initially, securing guests for their show had been a challenge.
Now, people were actually approaching them, all thanks to Laura.
Jessica exclaimed, "Laura isn't just a traffic magnet. She's a veritable dam of viewership. I was shortsighted."
Brandon chuckled. "It doesn't matter if Evan doesn't participate this time. We have a whole lineup eager to join. Clinging to Laura's coattails is always profitable."
The staff felt energized, as if they were seeing a huge bonus waving at them.
Clinging to Laura was like holding onto the golden key to viewership.
Setting his phone aside, Brandon let it buzz with incoming messages from various agents, increasingly at ease. "Let's just sit back and let the situation unfold."
Meanwhile, Laura was on her way to buy groceries for her dad, oblivious to the online frenzy. She pondered how to spend the 4 dollars the production team had given her.
It was enough for groceries, but providing a nutritious meal for the dads was a challenge.
Raising her hand, she piped up. "I have an idea!"
Curious, everyone looked at her. "What idea?"
Laura raised her 4 dollars, her voice childish. "My teacher said unity brings great strength. We each have 4 dollars, but individually, we might not buy much or get a balanced meal. What if we each buy different ingredients and combine them into a nutritious meal? Wouldn't that be better?"
The production team was momentarily stunned.
Shawn's eyes lit up.
Bella clapped her hands, going with the flow. "That's great! I can use my 4 dollars to buy a bunch of chicken legs. Shawn can buy potatoes. Aaron can get some spices. And we can make a big pot of curry chicken. It'd be nutritious because chicken has protein!"
Phil furrowed his brows. "But won't the dish be too simple then?"
Laura nodded. "It would be simple, but if we aim for nutritional balance, 4 dollars won't stretch far enough, or there might not be enough food for the dads, who I guess eat a lot. If we split the money to buy both vegetables and meat, we can't buy much meat. But if we pool our money, we can buy lots of ingredients, so all five dads can have a full meal!"
Shawn grew more interested. "Laura, I didn't realize you were so clever and had such great ideas."
Aaron, sitting beside her, his eyes sparkling, commented, "Laura is amazing!"
Bella also applauded. "That's our Laura!"
Laura blushed, scratching the back of her head. "If everyone agrees, then let's decide what each of us will buy."
Shawn volunteered. "I'll buy the heaviest. I'll get 4 dollars worth of potatoes. Aaron can buy carrots, onions, and milk, and Phil can get cucumbers. We'll make curry chicken, just one big portion, and use the remaining money for apples."
Bella analyzed, "Although my dad eats little at home, he's been a bit tired these days. And since there are five dads, they really do need more food. So, we should try to make two dishes, and if possible, add some fruit."
Aaron raised his hand. "If we don't have enough fruit, we could make a smoothie!"
As everyone agreed and got more excited about the plan, a staff member raised their hand to interject, "Wait, I said before that you can't communicate with each other about this. You're breaking the rules."
Laura, calm and composed, countered, "Sister, you said earlier that private communication at the market would be against the rules. But we're not at the market yet. We're just discussing what each of us will buy. Once there, we'll each make our purchases independently without any interaction. How could that possibly be breaking the rules?"
The staff member was taken aback.
Shawn gave Laura a thumbs up. "Laura is awesome."
Bella covered her mouth, giggling.
Aaron nodded vigorously. "Laura's absolutely right."
Phil chimed in, "Yeah, we haven't even gotten off the bus yet."
The staff member reluctantly agreed. "Alright then."
The chat exploded: [LOL, Laura really knows her stuff.]
[I came here just for the fun, but after seeing Laura, why do I feel so inadequate? Why is my son so behind at the same age? He throws a tantrum if he doesn't get toys, yet Laura is here on a show! Why, why, why?]
[I know everyone's here for the drama, but let me plug our Laura here. Don't be fooled by her young age. She's a stress-reliever, not spoiled at all, knows her manners, loves the young and respects the old, and is full of clever ideas. Watching her is like reading a feel-good story that just pumps you full of dopamine. You won't lose out by stanning her.]
[Long live Laura!]
[I didn't want to stan her. She's like a truth mirror in the entertainment industry.]
[I can't stand it. All these fanboys and girls of a four-year-old, are you Laura's hired trolls? You start smearing our idol before anything concrete has even happened, wishing for his downfall, right? Looks like it's not just Laura's trolls here but enemies pretending to be bystanders wanting to smear our idol, right?]
[Evan's fans will never give up! And our idol would never do such things! Those manipulated images are all fake! If you don't need your eyes, donate them to someone useful!]
[Are people seriously not seeing that it's a photoshopped image?]
[Uh, I just want to ask. Are Evan's fans brain-damaged or blind? You keep saying it's a photoshopped image, so why not show the original to prove me wrong? No original image, but still claiming it's photoshopped. What are you even talking about?]
[There's no original. They better hurry up and photoshop a so-called 'original' image to save their idol.]
[Still whitewashing your idol, huh? Your idol's sexy lips were kissing a rich old lady, haha!]
[So many people on the live-streaming channel.]
[I stan Laura because she's the industry's truth mirror. At least the kid won't cause a scandal.]
The heated discussion in Laura's live-streaming channel undiminished. Meanwhile, Evan, unaware of the hatred surrounding him online, continued to carefully maintain his public image.
Their vehicle trailed behind Laura's bus, waiting to see if Laura and the other children would pass the safety test.
As the youngest there, Evan's radiant smile contrasted sharply with his usual haughty demeanor.
His fans dominated the chat, with hardly any negative comments visible. All praises were about his good looks.
Even normal comments from other dads' fans quickly got buried.
[Look at the online comments, you silly boy. You've been backstabbed by a cunning kid.]
