Celia huffed and puffed as she hoisted the carrying pole onto her shoulders, hailing a cab to the Graham residence.
There was a bit of a hike from the gate to the mansion, and with every step, her irritation seemed to grow. What's their deal anyway? Who even cares about these people?
So what if a four-year-old girl got her butt seen, and now the whole thing had blown up into such a drama? Talk about being overdramatic.
Pulling out her phone, she quickly dialed Carla. The second she answered, her voice was already trembling with suppressed tears, "Mom, I can't stand it here anymore. I want to come home."
There was a moment's pause before Carla's sharp, caustic voice cut through from the other end, "Come home?! What home do you have to come back to?! Your dad passed away, and there's still talk of your grandpa's inheritance yet to be settled. Besides, I heard you've also got a great-grandpa! If he kicks the bucket, you might get a slice of that wealth, so just stay put and wait it out!"
Celia felt the sting of injustice, "But these people... they look down on me, act all high, and won't even speak to me. They think I'm dirty."
She recounted the entire ordeal with Laura, sparing no detail.
Carla scoffed. "I thought it was something serious. Rich folks are all like that; every inch of their skin is worth its weight in gold, unlike us with dirt-cheap lives. If that little girl is adopted too, just copy her, do whatever she's doing. See how crafty she is?"
Celia rolled her eyes, muttering, "No way, I'm not like those scheming types. I'm straightforward."
Carla was exasperated. "Then just ignore her, hit the books, and keep aiming higher. If I were your age and had your opportunities, I would be making 20 billion dollars with no problem, and I'd have everyone wrapped around my finger! All that drama with Laura wouldn't stand a chance against me!"
Carla had then said, "Mom made several calls to your Grandpa Albert today, practically forcing them to throw a banquet for you. I even got him to invite Sebastian to be your tutor. Haven't you always idolized Sebastian? You'll get to meet him tonight."
Celia shrieked with excitement. "Really?! Will Mr. Sebastian Fuller even agree to it?!"
Carla replied, delighted, "Well, the Graham family is loaded, and Sebastian is all about making bank. Why wouldn't he agree?"
Celia grinned from ear to ear, finally feeling a weight lift from her shoulders. All she wanted was to be Sebastian's student, to become a master composer at the top of her game. Tonight was going to be her moment to shine!
Celia swaggered into the house with his carrying pole, casually planting his hands on his hips as he commanded the servant, "Go get someone to buy me the snazziest suit they can find! I want it in black! Something classy, you know?"
The servant was momentarily speechless.
In the blink of an eye, it was night.
The Graham residence lit up marvelously, where the manor spanned over a grand 20,000 square feet, with a 1.5-acre estate that epitomized opulence.
Laura stepped out of the car wearing a lilac puffball princess dress, her eyes nearly popping out at the sight of such a grand estate of the Graham family.
She turned to Zayn's cousin, "Zayn, is this where your grandpa lives?"
Zayn nodded indifferently. "Yeah."
Clifford's family lived there, including their grandpa and Grandpa Albert. Though they all had their places on the side, they mainly chose to live together in the old mansion.
Dexter didn't fancy living with them, which is why he moved out at a young age. The place was also not to his liking. But, catching Laura's awestruck gaze, he asked, "Do you like this kind of house?"
Laura, taken aback for a second, nodded. "Yeah, it's beautiful! I love it!"
A determined gleam flashed across his eyes as he took one long look at the mansion, "Good."
Laura swept up her dress and made her way to the manor when a familiar voice rang out behind her, "Disciple!!"
She turned around. Tyler was standing by the car, energetically waving at her, "It's been a while, Disciple!"
Joy lit up Laura's face, "Master! What are you doing here?"
Tyler ran toward her with a grin, closely followed by a man in a white suit, Sebastian. Both approached her, their eyes full of affection.
"I checked with Zayn about where you were, and I came especially to see you. And since Mr. Fuller wanted to meet up with us, I went ahead and mingled a bit for you. And here I thought you didn't miss me at all!" Tyler pouted, pretending to sulk.
Laura laughed joyously, "Not at all. I was planning to come hang out with you! Just tomorrow!"
Tyler put his hands behind his back, his smile playful, "Then stop planning, come hang out with me right now, I'm here!"
Sebastian rolled his eyes subtly, "Don't scare the kid. Could you at least act like a mentor should?"
He looked at Laura. "You don't even text me, we message you, and you reply with an answer. I'm not thrilled."
Laura quickly admitted her fault with a cheery smile, "I'll pay more attention in the future!"
Sebastian's expression softened instantly, "Good."
Upstairs, Celia peeked out from the second floor in a sleek black gown, her blood boiling with excitement when she saw Sebastian's familiar figure.
Here they come. Her mentor is here! But her brow furrowed when she noticed he was talking with Laura.
Celia frowned. Always the angelic bitch, trying to cozy up to Mr. Sebastian Fuller. She raced down the stairs in her slippers, dashing straight to Sebastian, "Mentor!!!!"
Sebastian turned his head, slightly puzzled by the noise. Celia pounced like a dynamic leopard, grabbing his hand, "Mentor, hello, I'm Celia Graham. My grandpa hired you to be my tutor, right?! I'm the student you're supposed to teach! I've admired you for the longest time, and I'm thrilled to meet you in person. This party was thrown just for me, so please come with me!"
Sebastian frowned lightly, "Thrown just for you? That's not what I recall. Isn't this Laura's gathering?"
Celia and Laura were puzzled.
Sebastian withdrew his hand gracefully, "I'm flattered that you admire me so, but unfortunately, I've already taken on a disciple."
Celia was utterly confused, "But this is my banquet. What does Laura have to do with it?"
Laura was just as bewildered, "It's mine, though."
Celia's breath hitched, and she turned to look at her, a sudden thought climbing within her. She reached out and pushed her, "Who says!!! Are you trying to steal my limelight?!"
But Tyler reacted faster, sweeping Laura up.
Laura was utterly confused.
With Laura in his arms, Tyler gave a stern warning to Chris. "What kind of manners is this? Attacking a guest right out of the gate?" He turned to Laura, "Come on, Laura, I got a luxury cruise ship banquet just for you!"
Everett, enjoying the debacle from the sidelines, chimed in, "Let's hit the road, brothers."
Laura was totally confused.
Arriving at the sound of the commotion, Vince was initially ready to greet Tyler with a smile, but his expression changed as he saw them turning in the opposite direction. His puzzlement was clear, and he called out, "Mr. Larson, Mr. Fuller, Ms. Yale, Mr. Smith, where are you all heading?"
Tyler was fuming with anger without looking back. "To a place where my disciple is treated like the treasure she is! And another thing, don't let me see your ill-mannered daughter again!"
Vince was taken aback, "Ill-mannered daughter?" His gaze fixed blankly on a defiant Celia, and suddenly his head buzzed as his anger raced to the forefront. "Her again... Steve! Get this arrogant child shipped back home in a helicopter, now!!"
Celia was utterly bewildered.
