Celia was moved to tears by a comment that read: [Nothing much, just got everything taken away by a rich, angelic bitch girl, you know? She played all her cards, but I didn't want us to end up hating each other too much. Anything she wanted, I let her have.]
[You've had it rough, but if it's yours, you should be claiming it back! Think about it. You're living a life straight out of a novel! From rags to upper-class society, isn't that where you use your skills to show them up? You can't let that angelic bitch look down on you. You can't give up now!]
Inspired, Celia wiped away her tears, pulled herself up, and stood tall. From a destitute family environment to this life of luxury, all her old friends said she was living the female lead's life, and having a future and shining bright! It was time to take back everything that belonged to her!
In the corner of the room, Emma watched Celia, puzzled as to why she was squatting under the sofa, crying and then cracking a devilish smile. Weird, she thought.
Meanwhile, Laura had just arrived at the estate's go-kart track, stepping into a racer's jumpsuit with excited eyes, exclaiming, "Wow, this looks like so much fun!"
The massive go-kart stretched out before her. Zayn, dressed in a black and white racer's suit with a helmet tucked under his arm, looked lazily over at Clifford. "So, what's the plan? Racing or something else?"
Clifford couldn't keep the pride out of his eyes as he stood there in his racing suit, his belly noticeably sticking out. "Zayn, you look like you know what you're doing, all professional-like, but you've never actually raced one of these go-karts, have you?"
Laura frowned and shot Clifford a dark look, "Are you picking on Zayn again?"
Clifford's bravado faltered, and he lowered his head, "Sorry, Laura. My mom said since it's your first time, those of us who can drive should let you win."
Surprised, Laura said, "Let me win?" She put on the safety helmet with a cool demeanor, "I never need to be let!" But as the helmet clicked into place, her vision blacked out, and she looked around, "How do you open the visor on this thing?"
Clifford was lost for words.
Zayn couldn't help but suggest, "...Is it possible you've got the helmet on backward?"
Jasper remained silent, while Xander couldn't resist a jab, "You sure you don't need any head start?" Everett, unable to contain himself, burst into laughter.
Laura quickly adjusted her helmet to reveal a pair of bright eyes and declared in a childlike tone, "No need! I don't care what place I come in, but if you guys go easy on me, it's just not going to be fun!"
Zayn raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement twinkling in his eyes as he glanced at the others. Xander shrugged helplessly. The kid sure had a lot of rules.
So they decided to secretly let her win. The group exchanged glances before each chose a go-kart and got on.
From a higher vantage point, Tyler and Sebastian watched, feeling good about the scene. "Go for it, disciple!"
Laura, looking the part, slipped on her gloves and waved, "I'll do my best!"
Sebastian cleared his throat and announced into the microphone with a deep voice, "Attention all racers, the race will start momentarily." A safety trainer quickly showed Laura and Zayn where the brakes and the accelerator were.
"Three, two—" Sebastian began to count.
"Hold on!!" The door to the truck burst open, and Celia entered, lugging her long dress, panting, "I want in too."
Laura was astonished.
Celia, holding up her gown with one hand and eyes fierce, declared, "Since I'm a part of the Graham family, I also have the right to grab what I want, right? I see no problem with me joining the race. What do you say, Laura?"
The entire training track fell silent.
Laura stood there, her eyes wide and mouth agape, "This isn't my place, so asking me is pointless."
Without missing a beat, Celia stepped onto a go-kart. Her gown, a bit too revealing, nearly caused a wardrobe malfunction, exposing her pale legs for all to see.
Everett, scandalized, covered his eyes and shrieked, "My eyes! I've gone blind!!!"
Jasper turned away, disgusted.
Xander watched on, a shiver running through him, as he pitched in, "Could you put on some pants before coming here?
Celia let out a cold laugh, "Is that necessary? Did I have a slip? Besides, I'm wearing jeans underneath." With that, she briskly lifted her dress, revealing the denim shorts underneath instantly!
Zayn closed his eyes, turning away, not wanting to catch even a glimpse of her, and muttered bitterly, "This is bad luck."
Everett clutched his chest, "Lady, put on some pants, will you? Aren't you grossed out by yourself?!"
He turned his gaze to Clifford. Clifford shuddered under his stare and spoke up, "Exactly, you've sullied our sight enough already, and you're still flaunting those less-than-fair legs of yours? Have some decency, put on some pants, and come back, will you?"
"Am I not wearing pants?" Celia asked, incredulous. "I'm not as delicate as some people here. I have denim shorts on underneath. You might as well pretend that's what I'm wearing!" Having said that, she turned her gaze towards Laura.
Laura ignored her completely, turning instead to Tyler and waving, "Mr. Tyler Larson, snap a pic for me, will ya? I wanna post this on Twitter!"
Tyler responded eagerly, "You got it, disciple!"
Celia rolled her eyes. Did Laura completely tune out what she said just now?
Jasper got it too, showing his distaste, "You want to make an impression on Laura, and she couldn't care less about you. But congrats, you've succeeded in grossing us out."
Taking a deep breath and gripping the steering wheel tightly, Celia snapped, "Cut the crap! Let's go for a team race. Draw teams randomly."
It was then Laura noticed her, "Team race? Cool!" Seeing that she agreed, the boys had no choice but to swallow their displeasure.
Celia smirked, "Laura, whoever ends up with you as a teammate is plain unlucky."
However, five minutes later when the draw was over, Celia looked at the colored strip that matched Laura's and freaked out, "Why am I on the same team as you?!"
Laura was just as surprised. Not that she cared who she teamed up with. On the contrary, Celia's fuming was somewhat amusing to her. She could tell she wasn't Celia's favorite person, which made the more Celia lost her cool, the more entertaining it was.
With a mischievous smile, Laura mimicked, "Why am I on the same team as you!"
Celia shrieked, "You'll slow me down!"
Laura shot back, "No, you'll slow me down!"
Celia, "You!!"
Laura grinned playfully, twirling the strip as she said, "I honestly don't care who I'm teamed up with. I'm just here for a good time! If you're so eager to be the champ, go ahead. I'll be right here waiting for you to carry me to victory!"
Celia, choked up yet sneering, retorted, "Fine, watch me take down these guys. You'll see what real skill is. Slow us down all you want."
Having said that, she carelessly flipped up her skirt and plopped down into the go-kart. The boys had already expertly turned their heads away. It was quite the sight for sore eyes.
Laura blinked in surprise, "You're not wearing any safety gear?"
Celia scoffed, "Those who truly have skill never wear safety gear. I don't need it." The female lead surely never wore any protective gear.
Laura nodded in agreement, "You look like you've got the chops. I guess I can just kick back and chill."
Celia sneered, "Just wait and watch."
