Two years flew by, and Emma and I welcomed a beautiful baby girl into our lives.
She was absolutely precious. Emma would always say her bright eyes and delicate brows were the spitting image of mine.
At our daughter's first birthday party, I spotted Celine.
She stood outside the hotel, her gaze fixed on me through the window. There was something heartbreaking in her expression—if you looked closely, you could see the sunlight catching the tears on her cheeks.
I turned away, focusing instead on our guests.
Emma, ever attentive, slipped her hand into mine and whispered, "You must be exhausted. Why don't you go upstairs and rest for a while? I've got everything under control here."
I rested my head against her shoulder. "Just being with you is all the rest I need."
She laughed softly, and for a moment, we just stood there, wrapped in each other's arms—until my dad called Emma away to check on our little one.
Later, when I went upstairs, I glanced out the window. Celine was gone.
I didn't know when she'd left, and honestly? I didn't care.
Because for the first time in a long time, I was truly, completely happy.
