My heart hammered against my chest as Dawn and I went to the Great Hall.
We were greeted by prominent people, which were composed of nobles, alphas, Elders, and others from the different packs and kingdoms who had managed to join the important event. They looked dignified and regal. They emitted power just by standing there.
And I could not help but feel small whenever they happened to look in my direction. As if they already knew me. Then, their eyes rested on the mark on my neck. The more they watched it, it tingled.
I wonder what kind of rumors had reached their eyes?
A shiver ran down my spine.
Regardless of what they would think of me, their opinions no longer matter.
'You are definitely right,' Sunflower commented. 'They do not know the real you, so why would their opinion matter? Besides, when did someone's opinion matter to you?'

"They looked at me as if they knew I had seduced the alpha king.'
Sunflower rolled her eyes at me.

I cleared my throat.
Dawn and I sat on the empty table. It was nearly full, which meant we were waiting for some more visitors and for the ceremony to kick in.
I wonder how the queen will carry out her plan.
'How can I say no to the alpha king?' I retorted. 'You ordered me to come here, so here I come, Your Majesty.'
"You have the choice to say no.'
'I don't want to receive more punishment from your mate.'
He sighed. The queen asked the alpha king about something.
'Join me. Sit next to me.'
'So that the queen will kill me?'

The dress was an off-shoulder with a high split in front, with the color red complimenting my skin. I let my hair down to add some badass look. And people sure looked at my directions.
'No, thank you. I am fine beside Dawn.'
Someone nudged me. "River. Do you want some drinks?"
"Juice will do. Don't bring any more food. I am still full."
Dawn gave me a little salute. "If some jerk tries to annoy you, call me, and I will kick his balls." My mouth curved into a smile, but Dawn's eyebrows furrowed. "I am not kidding. Use our mind link to contact me.
I do not want to let my guard down knowing you may be...." She glanced at my tummy.
"I'm not pregnant."
"It's better to be safe than sorry, okay? Wait here. I will be quick."
I nodded, and she left the table.
Boredom was killing me.
